Watching forum drama be like
I know this is several pages old...but this is still killing me..xDD
I mean, They were partially right, the tiger+all gorillas pull is the normal pull since the dungeon was released, and healing DOES take priority over dpsing....
..but they just completely lost me at the mention of "CDs are for healers who can't handle their job" xD O.M.G. This is just way too perfect..*cries tears of laughter and deep, deep pain*
I needed this laugh. You sir are a comedic genius.A couple of weeks ago i met a mentor. No, THE MENTOR.
I got to do The Vault for MSQ progression. I did watch a guide beforehand, because i play tank and i don't want to get lost to mechanics and sudden adds. As soon as we load in the dungeon, i mention, that i'm new.
And then it started... This MENTOR marked all the priority targets, put ground markers to show me where to position pulls, gave me a couple advices on how to better use my skills, explained all the mechanics for first boss. When we got to the second boss, i ran headfirst and pulled it (because 90% of the groups i played with did want a tank to rush to the boss, turn him around and bend him over)... And then i notice that MENTOR and his friend are locked out.
"You rushed too fast while he was typing to explain mechanics, lol" - said that friend. I apologized for being too hasty, and mentioned that i did watch a guide, but i don't mind advices. And then that run (or, should i say, "lesson"?) proceeded as smoothly as ever possible.
Yes, THE MENTORS are real, i know that now.
On the other side, yesterday i got in the Vault with a mentor.
Cast: me as DRK, mentor as WHM, one BRD and one DRG. No "new player" message.
And so the show begins. After the initial buffs all went well until first pull. I used Salted Earth twice. Yes, the damage output was, well, not spectacular. At least my HP was OK all the time and enmity was high enough to not lose mobs. Yes, it was not so fast, but at least everybody is alive.
So with that humble pace we got to the first boss. That battle took very long time, but, at least we did not wipe, so it's OK. While we are checking the spoils of battle and roll for loot i did check the gear on DRG and BRD. Mostly 54 NQ items... with a couple of Ironworks jewellery. On both of them.
Well, i'm very patient person, so i decide to finish that run regardless of circumstances. Maybe they are just not so lucky with drops, whatewer.
At the second boss we wiped twice. First time because WHM got in AoE, second time because WHM got in AoE while rezzing fallen DRG, who decided to puch boss in the face and got smashed by his Overpower-like move.
And, finally, we arrived to the famous Ser Charibert and his fancy Horse Circus.
Initial rebuff, ready check, and then that mentor showed his knowledge. "Turn the MP song on" - said he to our BRD. And BRD rocked for him alone. Because there were no other characters who benefit from MP song, except Ser Charibert, who was apparently pleased with reduced DPS. We start to pound the boss, i'm trying to mitigate damage with all the skills at my disposal, somehow (very slowly) we get through orb phase. And then something hit the fan. My health is getting dangerously low, i chug on potions and look for healer. Where is our WHM? Oh, he is playing with horsies. And then i got a big flaming spit in the face lose my remaining 200~ HP.
Second try. All is the same, WHM is amused with horsies, but manages to survive and rez me after my arse is burned with another flame spit. Grit, Darkside, chug Ether, Provoke, Unmend, Dark Arts, enmity combo with Bloodbath... And then i'm alone, because, you know, hugging horsies is fun.
XXXth try. Living dead is indeed useful skill. If only a could somehow heal myself to full... Because, you know, we are here to play with horsies.
And, finally, united we stand strong before loot chest. I gave my commendation to bard. He died less than others and his songs did rock.
57 minutes of lvl 57 dungeon. Not bad.

'Hey, why is that shield not going up in Keeper?'
Thoughts a second before everything stopped moving. 'Oh god, don't tell me the PS4 of all things has connections issues now. Or is it PSN,' I wonder as nothing moves, all of a sudden it DOES, and we're all dead on the floor...
"Connection with the server has been lost."
"The lobby server connection has encountered an issue."
The hell? The only times I got lobby server issues on PS4 was back when Sony royally screwed up something and my PSN connection was so bad I had literal stop-motion lag or couldn't move on bad days.
Got back in. Moogle has a 300 people queue by the time I get in, my friend's got 700.
I'm all alone in Keeper. All alone. So it was the Chaos Data Centre belly up, not my PS4, the connection, or the PSN, huh.
We down Middy with no issues after that, but that certainly makes for a... memorable run for the newbie healer, pfahaha.-
AS I WAS WRITING THIS I GOT KICKED OUTTA MOOGLE AGAIN. LET ME BACK IN I DON'T WANT TO NAP UNTIL THE LIVE LETTER AT 6-30 IN THE MORNING PLEASE

This sounds like we might be living in the same cultural sphere... Sounds way too familiar.Maybe it's a difference in culture.
If someone in my culture asked to be recognized for their hard work, they will be seen very negatively by their peers. [...] When someone says "You did a good job!" [...] it is socially acceptable to say "No no, I didn't do very well at all."
You are right on that, mate. As soon as the boss transforms I just throw a succor out and then keep it up for everyone. The most we ever have to do to worry about poisons is sometimes grab a potion for a tank whose shield fell off at just the wrong time. And since its just one person, I can do the runing to the chests on my own while throwing on my Bio, Aero, Swiftcast Shadowflare, Ruin II etc... so no real DPS loss at all. It's so nice being able to do that.
Now for my own story of the day:
Well, I've been having those won't-move-out-of-aoe BLMs in Hullbreaker lately.
Ex roulette today: Sohr Khai for once. Party has a WAR BLM NIN(I think) and me on SCH. I'm preparing to watch the BLM get Mogcanes, Holy Breaths etc to the face based on recent experiences. I was worrying too much.
This turns out to be the fastest Ex run I've had in weeks. Hraesvelgr goes down around the 14 minute mark. And we could have been even faster, as the WAR didn't always use cooldowns for the bigger pulls. (still survived like a champ and I had NO trouble whatsoever keeping him alive with roused Selene and shields, even with the frequent Deliverance use, it just would have afforded me even more time to DPS :P) Everyone performed really well.
Such a nice run.
Speaking of Aurum Vale, I was helping my boyfriend level his MCH and I was the healer. Now, on the first and third boss, I always stand next to a fruit so I can quickly grab it as soon as I have the proper stacks.
On the second boss, the nin who has 1 stack grabbed the fruit next to me. As soon as he did, I got a second stack. So I had to run across the room to get one but died in the process. As expected, we wiped. Nin yelled at me.
On the third boss. Oy. The nin stands in the gold bile and keeps stealing the fruits I'm standing next to so I have to run to grab one when I have the proper stacks. When he died, he yelled at me again. This time, he died because he's in the puddle and I was running across the room to get a fruit because he took mine. My boyfriend told the nin to chill and it only happened because the healer shouldn't have to run across to get a fruit when I'm standing next to one in the first place. At the end, the tank apologized to me about his friend's behavior.
made me pull my hair.
Amdapor Keep (normal) on an alt
tried to do a semi speed pull. Not a full speed pull since i figure pple are not used to it in this half forgotten dungeon.
Somehow, someway the whm always got 1 aggro for some reason.
They didnt use regen on my while i pulled so im not sure why. And im pretty sure i got the pulled mobs.
I did notice the whm actually STOP and start attcking the mob that was attking him/her than pull it to me.
I tried to go bk and get aggro, got all aggro, whm still attking, aaanndd wipe.
Tried another semi speed pull.
Stops halfway with a decent size pull.
Whm runs ahead of me and aggros the next batch, i run to take aggro, whm runs around, we wipe.
I get blamed >.>
the melee thought i was running around not knowing where to go ;/
Didnt wanna point fingers at what the whm was doing, since they were quiet, so i just started pulling smaller groups
