I really hope you reported that monk to a GM. Sending you uninvited tells outside of the instance is definitely harassment. Especially since it wasn't even your fault that the instance was abandoned, or the mechanic failed. I don't understand these people that are so against healer DPS. What are we supposed to do then? Stand there picking our noses while we wait for someone to take damage? Sorry, no.

To those who answered my questions about WARs and Butcher's Block, much appreciated. I will practice rotating Eye > Path or Eye > Eye if I ever come to the point where I'm close to ripping aggro from an MT. My WAR may be 60, but I haven't played it all that much, so I have plenty to learn when it comes to it. :3

I did however ask an officer in his FC to pass him on a link to the log and the suggestion that he does his homework before he gives people stick. Otherwise yeah, he's either going to fall out with an FC healer or hassle someone who won't hold back on reporting him.

It's a shame as the BRD was even playing foes for me despite no proper caster, was a nice run otherwise <3

Not by much, the difference between just repeating eye-eye instead of eye-bb is 20 potency. The problem is if the MT is either a PLD or DRK they'll need to swap from their dps combos (which don't have any enmity multipliers except for a small one on Savage Blade for pld) to their enmity combo regularly to keep the lead and for both of them the loss is much greater than what a WAR gains from eye-bb. PLD lose a lot of potency switching RA to RoH, the direct potency loss on DRK is small but more importantly they lose the MP they would've gotten from Syphon Strike if they have to use their enmity combo instead of DPS combo.

Though all of this is assuming the person tanking is actually trying to maximize their DPS instead of just spamming their enmity combo over and over.

If there's so little incoming damage that both tanks are in dps stance and the WAR generates more enmity, wouldn't it make more sense for the WAR to be MT? Why limit what either tank can do?

Because pld and drk do more dmg as mt as opposed to ot. They have skills that proc off of blocks and parry which amounts to extra damage that cannot be triggered if they are OT

I have the pony so it doesn't effect me but I don't think its fair. :/

If they want the pony, why don't they just make a farm for it and Lootmaster that, if they are hellbent on Lootmaster being a thing? It's definitely not like people don't still participate in pony farms--I saw one for Shiva's pony last night while looking for something to do in PF. Get enough overgeared and skilled players and you skip basically everything in Titan Ex. Even most of the landslides. It's basically a joke. But seriously? Lootmaster WT parties so they can have the pony...Wow.


My story is a PotD story. Been a while since I've been in PotD, since I got so burnt out on it back when floors 51-200 were first released, but I've been running it again with my friends to level up my last few jobs, or just to have some fun. However, last two days were the first time in a while I've ventured in solo.

Now, I'm all for doing what the majority wants. Majority want to speed run? Okay, that's fine. Majority want to explore? No problem. I'm down with that, too. I'll basically do whatever the majority decides they want to do, and have no complaints over it because I honestly don't care either way. I had a group this evening that was the latter while running through on my DRG (I'm awful at it, but trying to at least level it to 60 before Stormblood; maybe if I get brave enough, I'll venture into dungeons, but for now, PotD only XD). The other two still had regular padjali weapons, and were exploring all of the rooms. I'm totally fine with that; it doesn't bother me at all. But, of course, there has to be one other person (with max aetherpool) making a big deal about others wanting to explore, and look for silver chests.

Majority want to explore? Deal with it. I don't care if you hover around by the portal while everyone else explores. You can do that; just stop complaining in chat about it, please. Same if majority want to speed run. Don't just make a big deal about it when people that don't have max aetherpool want to look for chests, or if the hoard is on the current floor and someone would like to find it. Just grinds my gears a little bit. If you really just want to speed run for exp, you can always jump in with a premade. I know the opposite holds true as well, but when 3/4 people want to explore and look for upgrades, just let them do that. If you don't want to, then you're free to leave, and rejoin in 30 minutes hoping for a group that shares your speed run mentality.

This wasn't even on floors 1-10 or 51-60, but on some of the middle floors (31-40). Let people that want upgrades get them; they can't progress in a matched party otherwise (actually ran into a player who said they'd been stuck on floors 31-40 last night as well, because people made such a big deal about them looking for silver chests that they hadn't been able to get decent enough upgrades to progress). Just...ugh. It really irritated me. :/


I did forget to add how a friend and I did Floors 1-30 tonight before he had to log off (he has to adult tomorrow morning at his job), and it seemed like I was triggering every single landmine and alluring trap on each floor. Every time he'd be like "Goddammit, Hyomin, I swear if you trigger another trap ONE MORE TIME!!!" And I would just respond with "I CAN'T HELP IT. MY CHARACTER IS LIKE A BEACON FOR THESE THINGS." That and "So, I should activate Blood for Blood each time I run into an Alluring Trap, right? ;D" since he was on his AST. XD

There should be an achievement for triggering every trap on a PotD run. XD Title of "Trap Magnet." Because that would be my character. Landmine, Toad (ugh, every time), Alluring, Pacification/Silence, she triggers them all. lol We ended up having a SMN for all three sets of floors (they're on our server), and they were probably like "I don't know what is wrong with these two people, but I'm going to stay FAR AWAY from them." XD

If you're MT your default stance should be tank stance, if you're OT your default stance should be DPS. If you're MT and I can rip aggro off you when I'm OT and in DPS stance then you need to turn on tank stance or stop being MT, just like if any other DPS threatens to take your aggro. Your job is to hold hate, use your tools to do so. Whats best for your party is for the MT to hold hate so the DPS and OT tank don't have to hold back just so you can turn off tank stance. Also, War's highest DPS chain is Butchers block alternated with Storm's Eye for the debuff, so no we won't stop using it.

... don't give advice when you clearly don't know how to OT. Warrior alternates Butcher's Block every third combo because it's a raid DPS loss to force either of the other tanks to use their enmity combo just to offset your aggro climb. Insisting they stay in tank stance throughout is just plain silly. If I'm on Dark Knight and pull, I do one Power Slash combo and drop Grit-- two if I have a geared Black Mage/Monk. If you pull hate off me as a Warrior because you're BB spamming, congratulations, you're now the main tank. Don't like it? Don't be a selfish Warrior.

Leveling Roulette as DRK drops me into Titan normal. Cool, a nice quick one. I noticed we had a sprout MNK and WHM, and a bonus. The other DPS was a MCH. Okay, so I paused before pulling.

"Do I need to explain anything?" I wrote clearly in party chat.

"not for me" the MCH replied.

From the sprouts?

Nothing, of course. Zip, zilch, nada. Not a single peep of response. They could've taken 5 seconds, at the very most, to type "yes" or "no" in response to my offer of explaining the mechanics. I would've even accepted an emote of nodding or shaking their heads.

So, fine. Fine. I pulled. And naturally, the WHM died to the first Landslide that targeted them. We wiped, reset. I pulled again, the WHM repeated their mistake, we wiped again. Still not a single word from either of the sprouts. The MCH offers basic instructions like "Cancel your spell and get out of Landslide".

Third try. WHM survived Landslide, died to Geocrush, wipe us again. Finally, they write a single word: "why". Through an immense exertion of willpower, I managed to refrain from screaming. We cleared it on the 4th try.

TL;DR: Wiped 4 times on a simple trial because newbies couldn't be bothered to respond to an offer of mechanics explanations and advice.

No. Wiped 4 times because that WHM was a moron. You don't have to study rocket science to figure out Titan's landslide, especially not if you have already been hit by it.
