This isn't exactly a horror story, but it is something that struck me as odd. I joined an in-progress PotD on the first set of 10 floors (around floor 6 or so), and there was an Archer in the party who didn't so much as unsheathe her weapon -- no weaponskills, no auto attacks, nothing (she was running around and opened a chest, so she wasn't AFK). After a couple of floors of this, I asked why, and received an oddly aggressive response from our Pugilist (along the lines of "because eff you that's why," but far sassier, which made me wonder if they had kicked the missing party member for asking the same question and if I was about to get the boot myself), although I think she was just cranky and was mostly kidding. The Archer never said a word, but she did start actually killing things, so it was fine in the end... It wasn't a big deal on that set of floors anyway -- a PUG, LNC, and AST are plenty to wipe everything out -- but it was really just a head-scratcher.

Dusk Vigil. Level 51 dungeon. Level 60 SMN. On their relicquest. Not knowing bane. Not keeping dots up on bosses...

And I've seen a LOT of those kind of people lately - I do all my dungeons with said friend, but every run, no matter the level, we'll get at least one person that kills me a little inside - did the overall skilllevel in the playerbase really decrease THIS much?
yeah. Yeah it has. The worst thing for the game was giving potd exp

My friend met a muti 60 player with a premade grouping in ARF.
She asked the MCH what they where doing because she suspected they where not aoeing but was not sure. It was slightly stressing her healing in the way it was not allowing her to dps enough to make the stuff die at an appropriate speed. She got no answer and watched the mch a bit and noticed single hit rotation despite 5-10+ monsters. So she commented stuff was dying too slow causing her to heal too much just because the MCH is not aoeing. The war was answering for the MCH and this alone is irritating.

The war was talking about how it is not worth it for a MCH to AoE because it is only 120 potency ....

@Vidu, For getting those random people that seem not be skilled, did they happen to be one job 50+ while the other is is 15 that unlocks the job? There is a lot of rush levelers lately that got no clue how to play

Technically this is Tales from PF, but oh well.

Started a Sophia Ex party to grab a clear for a friend, I went as WHM. Specified a quick clear, no bonus, all in English. It takes a little while to fill up (it was pretty late) but we eventually get in. Before we start, MT asks DPS to call out numbers.

    Silence.

Tank asks again. Cue a second long, awkward silence. Feeling nervous at this point and noticing the smattering of highlighted Ds and Fs, I use auto-translate to ask if anyone speaks English. Only one responds.

    "Nein."

Great. Despite a fluent German speaker among us and repeated auto-translate, communication stagnated after this, so the rest of us eventually decided to just give it a shot. As long as we stick signs on, they should follow, right? (The naivety!) We start. All goes well until about ten seconds in, when the head appears, and three DPS go flying off. We bring them back quickly, in time for the next stage where they all get zapped by Thunder III during Execute, and another flies off from Aero. Another ress, and soldiering on, we keep them alive until the adds phase... where they all start attacking the /first/ and /third/ Demiurge, get confused by the second, and knocked off by the positional attack from the first. At this point my desk had a permanent welt in it from my head. We didn't even make it to the first scale tilt, as the rest of us soon jumped off in abject hopelessness.

We reset. Tank goes "yeah... no" before leaving.

I can only /yes in agreement.

That BRD story summed up my thoughts on people in the game right now.

You can't say anything and if you do you're called a fu**** elitist.
These people just need to get votekicked or something, this is getting ridiculous.

INC before white knights bashes me: "let him play the way he wants to", NO this is not playing the game, it's expecting a carry and being a d*** to other people

As a WAR main, having swapped from WHM main, I understand the plight that some healers just aren't ready for big pulls in Expert. I always like to ask the healer what their comfort level is, especially with this set of them. And I always state the healer's name, so that the DPS knows I don't care about their opinions.

So I get Baelsar's Wall, which I had healed myself the first day and had issues with. I forgot to ask, oops. I pulled the first pack. The BRD with us decided he would pull the next one before we killed the first mob. Okay, maybe the group can handle it, so I pull a few.

    And we wipe.

WHM says they can't handle the bigger pulls. Their gear is near minimum for the dungeon. Okay, I back off. BRD started whining that they need to learn how to heal or leave. I told him to calm down. He pulled a second set of mobs, and warned him that if he pulls more, he's tanking it.

So we go through the dungeon, slowly but surely. No more troubles, until after the second boss, when I realize he's stopped DPSing, not even autoattack. I make a comment about it, he states the WHM isn't DPSing. I once again tell him to calm down. He continues to not DPS, but he does pull another set of mobs.

I go to initiate vote kick, we got loot. Like, chest before the boss loot so it's fresh. He's not rolling. I politely ask him if he's going to actually do something in the boss fight. No response.

I say to the other party members "mind if we hold off on the pull for a couple minutes? I don't like carrying assholes." They agreed. So we sit in a group and wait. Loot drops. BRD immediately says "GIT GUD" while I go to initiate the vote kick. We kick him, get a BLM that's VERY happy that we're at the final boss, and we kill it.

Honestly, if I would've gotten that player while I was with friends, I wouldn't have even votekicked. He'd either leave or wait until near about the time the dungeon timer ran out.

Just because you're decked in full Alexander Savage gear doesn't mean I have to respect your call. Am I an asshole also? Yes. Yes I am. But I'm not wasting my time pulling multiple groups just to wipe repeatedly because a healer can't handle it.

Did a late night queue into Dun Scaith last night since I hadn't gotten any drops I wanted this week. Oh boy did that quickly escalate into a disaster.

Between two groups, I saw not one but three wipes to Proto-Ultima.

I stuck it out with the initial group for only so long after attempting to explain mechanics for the third boss, though only about half the group seemed to pay attention. What eventually caused me to leave is when the Warrior criticised our White Mage for priorizing non-Summoner DPS over tanks to raise and was immediately vote dismissed. Said Warrior wasn't rude or antagonist just obviously frustrated as had now wiped a total of five times (the aforementioned two, another two on Scathach and one final to Diabolos). I was relatively patient with that healer until then because she admitted to being new to Dun Scaith despite the fact she died to virtually everything. Not even highlight mechanics of the raid but simple things or just not listening to advice in the chat. But when the Warrior got dismissed, it irritated me since they stuck through all this mess without so much of a negative word and knew what they were doing to boot. The White Mage did claim it wasn't her who issued the dismissal but the timing seemed a bit too fishy.

And... none of these people had bonus?

    That's the really scary thing...
