Complaining about Castrum reminded me of one of the earliest runs I ever did there.

A long, long time ago, before the time of 3.2, I was a little WHM, decked out in a mix of job gear and Dzemael Darkhold/Aurum Vale drops. Mainly because I didn't have anything better at the time. Still, I knew that was serviceable gear in there. So I landed in Castrum, with a SCH co-healer that had better gear than me, but not exactly overgeared either.

Despite this, the tank decided to pull everything from the start to the first boss, without waiting for people to turn off searchlights. I had honestly never had to deal with a tank doing this sort of pull before, not helped by the lack of warning. Naturally, we wiped.

And boy oh boy, did this tank get salty about this. It started small, like yelling at us healers to wake up. I responded by snarkily apologising for not being psychic. The SCH didn't say as much compared to me, but it was clear they thought the tank was being stupid as well.

But anyway, I suppose since I was the more vocal of the healers, this tank started attacking me personally, accusing me of leaving the SCH to heal everything, despite the fact that I had clearly been throwing out heals to anyone who both needed and deserved them.

It finally reached a head when they called me a "faggot WHM not doing his job". My, it's been a while since I've had that insult flung at me, but then again, I do try to make it a point to avoid playing with 13-year-old boys when I can.

Anyway, when that popped up, I didn't even have to initiate the vote-kick against them. After they were gone, the rest of the run passed perfectly peacefully.

Somehow I always end up as a healer in Gubal HM without a tank. This time, the tank left because he apparently had been called to work right after the first pull.
It wasn't anywhere near prime time, but me and the drg and nin decided to wait patiently nevertheless.
A tank showed up right when we were about to 3 man the final boss. We finished the dungeon within a horrible amount of time, but my AST ego rised to new levels.

One time a few minutes after the pull in A8 normal my pet bird got into an accident. She was bleeding and needed immediate first aid, which I explained to the group albeit while panicking pretty badly. I told them to kick me if we wiped, but a few minutes later I came back into the room with a very angry but patcheduptothebestofmyabilityat3AM bird and the group had obviously already wiped once and pulled again without kicking me. I explained I done what I could do for now and to res me back up so I could finish the dumb fight and log off. One tank there though really wasn't having it with me, he apparently seemed to think I was faking a emergency for a carry through A8(NORMAL). He berated me for not just opening up the duty menu and clicking the leave button post pull when it doesn't work and going all "yeah sure" when I said I was grateful to everyone for being patient with me and that I think I'd caught the problem fast enough that she'd be good until the vet opened.

The vet bill was $300 but she's doing great now. It just still kind of hurts that I was doubted like that when I was doing my absolute best to communicate a issue with the group in a bad irl situation.

I didn't know you couldn't leave post pull. I thought you could. Hell how does that explain all those people who leave AV at the start? Either way noone believed you cause of bad people using excuses like that. Sadly that's why they acted like that. Not fair sure but good people will always fail due to horrible people ruining everything. In short, this is why we can't have nice things.

In Trials and duties like Alexander, once the boss is pulled you can't leave duty; you just can't during combat and once, say, Garuda is pulled she automatically counts as engaged for all 8 people. You can in case of a wipe and everyone and everything resets to be beginning.
As for AV leavers, dungeons too can be left as long as you aren't in combat. That's how they leave at the beginning, often before the walls are even down because that'sjust how leaving works. Also, as long as they don't participate in combat but the other three are, they can leave as well. It's basically just a check of "Is there something engaged Y/N? If N, able to leave duty; if Y, unable to leave".

If people had indeed wiped and then pulled again as Texa said in their post, then they would have been unable to leave duty, since they'd be counted as engaged in combat.
(I'm also really happy to hear the bird's better, that's just one of the worst emergencies I can think of :c)

On topic, had just about the raddest Vault ever while trying to scrape together as much lore as I could without that Infernal Lorevomit Hell Facility, tank and dps were taking their first-timer dps friend through and they joked about stuff so I piped in, got called a good healer and when I said I was from a different server than them the tank went all joke-y and tanked the second boss almost completely in deliverance, and then pulled the last trash packs in chains, it was a lot of fun to heal through ngl.

Went into Pharos Sirius the other day for 50's roulette with the wife and a FC mate on DRK, get a random bard who wants big pulls. It's our DRK buddy's first time getting PS in queue, so, only his second time here period. Eh, we decide to roll with it and pull big. DRK pulls everything up to the staircase, bard dies. I miss a heal, DRK dies, wipe. Round two, wipe on Symond because adds don't die and we were too clustered for the corrupted crystal. We don't wipe again for the rest of the dungeon, but that bard was plinking every single mob even while the DRK was still pulling, which got him a fair bit of hate every pull, and he died a time or two before I could top him up. There's a subtle distinction between doing big pulls to clear faster and doing damage recklessly before the rest of the party is ready. Also, I don't think he played any song other than Swiftsong. I don't think any of us gave him a commendation.

Weeping City yesterday with some friends. One of our DPS died at one point and after that, it was just a downward spiral of badly timed revives and 1 hits that slowly just turned into this. She pretty much said to just stop reviving her :P

Heh, we all know these storys of the "I'm an AST and the other AST keeps overwriting my card" type, right? Today, during two runs of A9 on BLM, I've seen the other side of this scenario. In both runs, both healers were ASTs who kept feeding me with the best cards they had, unfortunately cancelling each other out in that progress. I had an arrow or balance for 90% of the time, the other 10% were the aftermath of overwriting cards rather than playing them in succession... nevertheless, the ASTs took very good care for me and made me a very, very happy BLM, until they took so good care for me that they neglected the MT who died, making the boss turn around to me. Then... I was a very dead BLM

Had Castrum run. We get to the last boss and we were clearing the giant adds right outside the last boss, the giant cleaved me and smacked me against the last boss, and eventually locking everyone out.

No one noticed I pulled the last boss and my keyboard was on the fritz at the time. We wiped when my cohealer lagged. We just all laughed at it.

I love getting goofy parties like that. I don’t feel bad for goofing off.

I go in, ask for a status report and am told the tank is new.


I summon garuda, and head toward the group, they were at the pack in the first room, they were fighting out in the hallway.
But, I notice the tank pops back in at the entrance as I am running off...

I join up and help kill that group off... And the tank is gone...



Welp, chicken nugget tank time!


We head on through the dungeon, a couple slip ups here and there, titan died on the first pack without heals from the healer (sustain and physik wouldn't cut it XD), but after sorting targetting out we manage to start making progress.
First boss goes alright, healer got hit with the cone attack after he goes to a side, but lived and we finished the boss off.

My dps is horrible as I'm doing much more micromanaging than I'm used to trying to keep hate on everything with pet commands and swapping enemies.

We come up to the corner before the second boss... and we'd thought it strange... But I ask to hold a sec and check the menus.
Since our healer is party leader I explain how to go to the duty menu for controller users, since our helaer was on console, and explain how to add menbers since it didn't seem like we were looking.

And we start searching! Yay....


We continue on, rest of the dungeon goes fine and we get to the final boss.

We step inside the area and I say...
"Watch us get a replacement tank just as we seal the boss room off XD"

Do a ready check, sent Titan in.
It engages, and we start in, boom big cone... I move titan to the wall and say in party chat...
"cleaves >.<;"

And then we get our replacement tank...
Me: I called it!
Dragoon: God damn it.
Dragoon: You did.
Me: Totally called it!


Along the rest of the fight the dragoon expresses his feverent hope that the fight doesn't have an enrage.

After one of the jumps titan isn't attacking for a bit and I had to send him after the boss again, probably some controller fumbles on my part.


A little later the Dragoon manages to take hate and keep it off titan for a while...
At least until he gets cleaved to death and the boss goes back to titan. XD

But he gets raised and we continue on to win the fight, our replacement tank standing at the boss door watching.
