Oh god, I'm so embarrassed. Tried doing Castrum on my alt, to finally get him closer to 3.0 and therefore machinist...

Yeah, so backstory, I went to bed at 4am, and jolted awake at 8, leaving me kind of in a fuzz, but I've run Castrum so much and brought another alt to Heavensward before, it's not that big a deal.
50 minute queue.
Right as I decide to tab back in and withdraw, shut down the laptop and try taking a nap, it pops. Well, no biggie, I'm skipping cutscenes as fast as I can.

Connection with the server has been lost.

Yeah, the wifi, and shortly thereafter, electricity, died in this house. I tried again and again to log back in before my lights flickered out, and just decided to roll back into bed. I JUST got woken up again by the lights in my room coming back to life.
Well at least I got some more sleep, I don't feel like I'm in cotton candy hell, mostly.

For a change of routine, I queued into Leveling Roulette as DRG.

"Anything but Vault," I think to myself, "because I still haven't done my level 58 DRG quest and I have no idea how to play DRG at post-50 levels and I honestly haven't touched the damn job in months. Anything but Vault, and come to think of it, please let this be a pre-50 dungeon. PLEASE."

So of course, RNGesus being what it is, guess what dungeon I land in? Out of all the other dungeons I could've landed in, the ONE dungeon I hoped I wouldn't land in, because of course.

Anyway, despite my horrendous DPS, and despite the fact that I was figuring out my rotation while in the middle of fights, we managed to beat it while only wiping to Charibert once. Props to the SMN who did all the damage I couldn't.

Just wanted to share a positive run I had.

Did the Lost City of Amdapor for the first time the other day. I did research on it beforehand to try and minimize mistakes.

It went very well. The only time we ran into trouble was when one of the DPS pulled one of the mimic chests and the tank wasn't fast enough to pick it up. We ended up wiping and the tank apologized. No biggie.

We ended up wiping on the last boss because we didn't coordinate where the doors were. Next try the ranged DPS and the healer marked the doors and we got it down.

As a new player, I half expect that the blame would go to me or that the wipes would be my fault. But there was none of that. There was no blaming of anyone for the wipes. We just communicated and improved upon our attempts. It was a very nice run.

Im glad you had a positive run. When I was still a sprout I had the pleasure with queuing with this wonderful tank that was wearing lv 1 gear ( I think chocobo outfit was one of them ) Anyway I was a WHM and that run made me quit healing for a while, I tried really hard to keep him alive, but he never changed gear. After like the 5th attempt he finally changed his gear and we made it to the last boss only for him to leave without saying a word.

Never ran that dungeon anymore until months after that incident. Im pretty sure he didnt use defiance either, but I was a scrub so I didnt know WAR had that.

Level 50 roulette dropped me into an in-prog Hullbreaker Isle that apparently hadn't gotten past the first pull in 10 minutes.

The tank was a level 60 WAR... wearing level 60 slaying accessories. Doing huge pulls of 10+ mobs, that they somehow kept losing aggro to the healer, and to me, on, causing wipes.

Then blamed the healers. Plural. 2 of them joined and quit before we got a WHM that was willing and able to put up with this crap. I've never been so grateful that I queued as BLM for anything before. I did everything I could to help, throwing out Apocatastasis and Eye for an Eye, and it still almost wasn't enough.

Somehow, I'm not entirely sure that a WAR that's idiotic enough to spend millions on ilvl 250 HQ crafted slaying accessories and try to use them for tanking, has enough know-how to cast aspersions upon a healer for not being able to keep them alive in stupid pulls.

An extremely stupid one from me last night.

2 am. Extremely tired and running PoTD as nin on 41-50. 1 tank and 2 other dps.

I start running from the group and going into the rooms with chests to be "quicker and helpful". I die because second wind sucks there and 2 trash were on me.

get a raise by the smn. I laugh it off and say "lmao not the brightest moment in my life."

my dumb arse runs into another room on the next floor that's full of enemies. like. brimming. I look in the inventory and think "OH WOW! A thingy that turns everything within range into a mimic or plant! I'll use that and pull them all!!" NOTE: my team was still a few rooms down....

So sleep deprived, poor judgement me does the thing....and the they only stay like that for a minute...and i die.... and I kill everyone except the tank.

Jaw still dropped, i was dismissed without a word.

still cringing. never running that late again. I felt terrible because i was THAT GUY.

TL;DR I should never go in dungeons tired unless I want a free kick.

What is it with people now days? I did a 60 roulette and for Lost city. No big I love that dungeon, sadly the healer DCed on the first boss. I didn't know this until after we killed it and I go and mention this. I mentioned this as everyone else was pulling and going like a DC didn't just happen. The Black mage goes " SO?" I explain to him we have no healer and he instantly starts insulting the healer, and reported him/her for harassment. Like SERIOUSLY? Things happens, storms, crashes, COMCAST. All of those don't mean harassment. So ofcourse cause I'm a moron I tell him off. He then goes to tell me " it doesn't matter what I put. I just wanted them gone. They shouldn't play an online game if DC is an issue" I lost it at that moment.

Like seriously? I hate self entitled pricks who think only their time matters, or only their connection. Whats funny is I know for a fact those same people won't and can't live up to my insane standards of anything. But if I started doing what people do I'll be cut and jumped on in seconds, yet people run around like their crap don't stink. Yes I'm a full believer in treating others as you want to be treated. Things happen, just cause someone DCed doesn't mean they did it to ruin your day.. get your head out your butt and grow up. But what can you do, this is the net and people will continue to be morons thinking they are god's gift to the world cause they are safe behind tv screens. :/

Signed up for mentor roulette in progress and got a 3-min in, Haukke Manor. They were already at the first door to unlock, which is very fast. My guess is the tank who dropped was inexperienced and couldn't handle such aggressive dps and a SCH who spent the entire run in Cleric stance but I was quite happy to burn through everything in about fifteen minutes. Left me plenty of time to sign onto my alt and get in a leveling roulette over on Gilga, which blessed me with Aurum Vale, the most experience I could get for my lvl 47 AST. That one was quick and smooth as well, so it was a bit of a shock when the ninja dropped without warning in between pulls right near the final boss. But I got very close to 49 so that was great.

Also can I ask a question thats been digging in my mind the past week I was put on punishment from the forums? Why do healers complain about healing? I've seen a few post of healers of various classes complain that they had to heal. I'm not saying they are wrong, but why complain about healing when that's the main function of your class? THat's like me complaining I have to DPS as a DPS? Am I missing something?

Personally, I really enjoy healing, but if all I'm able to do is stand around healbotting because the tank or party requires healspam, that's boring. I far prefer runs that allow me to do a bit of dps or act more strategically.
