A tale from raid finder, not duty finder, but really, what's the difference..?

So, once upon a time, a little Sera decided to farm Sophia EX for the bird because she heard in 3.5, we'll get the pony aequivalent of Kirin for the primal birds.
The farm parties on her server were all worse than even clear parties
(today I have met a BLM that managed to deal a whoppin' 176 DPS to her over the entire fight..xD),
so in her plight, she looked to the raid finder for hope...and the raid finder delivered
For a few hours, all went well. Until this fateful run:

My memory is sh*t, and for some reason I do better looking for the visuals of my mark than their number.
So I always make an effort to pick someone that stands out to me
Fingers on 1-4, so I can hit the appropriate number right away as soon as numbers are put up on tanks/healers >:-D
This time, my healer of choice got the 4 assigned, and I hit 4 faster than ever before, so fast, that I hadn't even activated the chat yet...meaning now I suddenly had pulled Sophia with a beautiful Blizzard III (which is on hotkey 4..xD).
Sophia was not amused and killed 3 people before the rest jumped off and I had caused the first wipe.
I apologized and explained and all while the party joked around for a bit, luckily no one got angry or left ^^;

So we started again, properly this time, and it went fairly well until the first white/blue circles....in which me AND someone else stood on mark 4.
Balance wasn't kept in the world (where is The Avatar when you need one..) and sh*t exploded in our face and led to another wipe
Turns out, since I used the HOTKEY 4, my claim of mark 4 never actually reached the chat, and in all the joke spam and apologizing, someone else claimed her ~_~
So yay for wipe 2 which was ALSO my fault..xD

After a bit of discussion they decided to let me have mark 4, and 3rd try started. We wiped because the others messed up where to run, and we went right into 4th try afterwards.
All went well (some deaths, but that's the norm, I mean, at least I didn't mess up anymore..xD) until 17%, when my awesome brain said: "Hey, everyone is running to the edge, so there must be a tilt coming. But you saw no tethers, so who are you to just trust the other 7(!) people (well okay, after the last wipe where all 7 ran into the wrong direction a bit of mistrust was maybe justified), you'll just keep standing here right in the middle and- Ehm. And fall off. Yeah, well. You had it coming, you know?"
After that, I didn't recieve a single ress until the fight was over. It felt a bit rude, since except for the double-error in the beginning, I hadn't messed up any mechanics at all..?

In the end, BLM staff dropped and I got it...I bet some people hated me for real at that point xD
Still ended up getting some commendations, so either people just really don't care who they give it to, or they didn't hate me after all? ^^;;

I was totally a fool in the Halloween event quest last night. As first run, I didn't notice the "Saint" bar right hand. I thought it was just seconds' delay for every single punishment. After opening a wrong chest, the saint points ran out and we failed.
When I got what happened I was pretty pretty sorry for the whole thing. I should be more careful with every first try, or it would bring others' effort to naught. ;_;

It's a "Sanity" meter; representing how "sane" your party is. Lore-wise, when it drops to 0, your party is so terrified you're incapable of continuing, so they bring you outside.
Honestly, I'm glad I read over all the information provided by the Harlequin Guide (when you ask for it) before entering my first time; it pays to be prepared when going into a unique instance. We did still end up running out of sanity, but that was mainly due to people learning how to avoid detection. It was fun, anyway.

I confess that I was a bit too nervous last night. Seeing everyone ran away smoothly, I thought they were all familiar with it and I had to catch up. How silly! It was just the first day of the event...

Just got out of a pretty epic Final Steps of Faith. The WHM d/c'ed before the add phase, leaving an AST solo-healing the entire fight. It was going well up until the final phase. The AST was doing their best to keep everyone alive, but was running dry on MP. We had a BRD... but he was also dry from keeping Foe Requiem up for the casters. Nidhogg was at 6%, two people dead with one person d/c'ed... and he casts Akh Morn. Everyone stacks up, but the AST has no where near the MP to heal through it, leaving all but the two WARs dead on the floor.

The WARs proceed to finish him off alone, and it wasn't even close - both were still over 15k HP when he went down.

Adding another story:
I just had the closest call I have ever had with Hallowed Ground.
I was in Titan HM for a FC member's MSQ. Sometime after the heart phase, I notice that my health is getting dangerously low and I hit Hallowed Ground. Half a second later, Mountain Buster hits me (and is blocked with my shield, -30% damage) leaving me on 36 hp. Luckily for me, HG then decided to activate before the auto-attack that hit 0.1s later.
Sad thing is, despite having two WHMs in the party, all the healing I got during HG was a single Cure II with 2s left; neither of them used Benediction at the point it would have had the most value. By the last 5% of Titan's health, everyone but myself, the other PLD, and the MCH were dead. We manage to finish him off with me desperately spamming Stoneskin on myself and barely surviving to the end.

I need on every single piece of gear available to me, mainly for GC seals. If they needed the gear so bad, they could go on that job next time. It's not your responsibility to ensure all their alts get gear.

On the same coin, I once had a lvl 60 MCH need a drop when I was a 57 bard in Vault. No need to be greedy, roll "greed" as... that's what it is for seals.

Admittedly, maybe a system where if the gear drop is worse than what you you cannot "need" it would be nice.

Just had a PotD run as an Ast, along with a tank, whm, and arcanist. The tank used a rage pomander and I figured I'd throw an aspected benefic shield on him, thinking I was in nocturnal stance. A few seconds too late I realized that I was actually in diurnal, and thought "I hope this regen doesn't come back and bite me in the arse."

Then the tank runs into the middle of a room with 10 mimics in it, and since he was a manticore, there was nothing he could do to save me. o_o

Let's just say it was the fastest death I've ever seen in there (to actual mobs. Landmines are another story). And I have no one to blame but myself. Thank you for the raise, df whm.

You should see when two People trigger two Traps at the same time that Spawn around 8-10 Monsters if not even more in the other Rooms, and you just have used Aspected Helios in Diurnal before that...

The Monster List gave me a Clue what happened and my Husband Ingame literally yelled "I PREDICT A DEAD HEALER IN THIS GROUP"... Stupid Fortune Telling is costing me my Life eventually : o

LOL so I had a herp/derp moment. Ran Sohm Al as my WHM and was explaining stuff. No problem, but then I glanced and saw I was sitting in the AOEs. Was kind of embarrassing when I died 10s into the fight...

I had the craziest BLM with me in Xephatol tonight. Even with Smokescreen and Quelling Strikes, he was ripping hate from the tank. And he wasn't a bad tank either. Everything was just gone. The first boss was at like 30% when he went up for the first time and didn't even get to do it a second time. Second boss only did his push back ability twice. And the third boss only summoned Garuda twice. I forgot to look at the time, but it had to have been under fifteen minutes.

Hoo boy, this is a fun one. Late night mentor roulette because I'm bored. Final Steps of Faith with newcomers. Meh, it's got Echo now, no big deal. Go over the basic stuff and we pull. End up dying during adds because some DPS were dead going into it. First-timers, it's to be expected, not a huge problem, but a vote abandon goes out. Of course I vote no, as does the rest of the party. Second pull, the NIN in the group proceeds to immediately AFK. End up not meeting the DPS check and wipe. The NIN announces afterward that he fully intends to AFK until he's kicked and that he has the game running on PC while playing PS4 and that he refuses to play with a "fail group." Guess the mystery of who wanted to abandon was solved.

Majority of the group tells him to just eat the penalty, but he's in this for the long haul, sub-30 minutes left on the duty timer and he's still AFK with the group debating on whether to kick him or let him throw his tantrum. i personally want him to eat the penalty, but another party member has a replacement on standby and just waiting for the kick. I decide to bite the bullet and convince everyone to vote yes just so we don't fuck the first-timers over. He's kicked, replacement DPS arrives, and we proceed to one-shot him afterwards.

I get it, wipes happen, and sometimes you don't want to deal with it, but don't be a dick and try to hold a group hostage and fuck over people who need a clear for story progression.
