Actual response "Bosses only". the blm starts to try and help as well. Says hes a drk main. So he tells him listen darkside and grit go together. you need to have them on at all times. His response back was no i only use it during boss cause of mp issues

Once again no response. Now we start to notice that he isnt the best of tanks. Doesnt tank aggro with adds or anything. ok fair enough just got drk and is learning it ok we get it. The first thing he told us is that he doesnt want to take the time to redo his hotbars.

Oh dear... what lvl? I mean yeah, when you first get darkside it's like woah wait where's all my MP going!? But my bf explained to me you spend more MP taking it off and on and to just leave it on and remember to use some MP regain abilities (tbh not even that many...)
Completely understand why the BLM was upset too, it's painful when someone's doing something on your main you know is so wrong... and the hotbars. Really? As HyoMinPark already said, yeah maybe it's a pain but he's gonna have to edit them eventually! >.<


On a confused note for my own story, a little while ago had a WoD run (can't actually remember which of the three but one of those) with 2 bards, one sang Ballad constantly and the other sang Foes. I told the one singing ballad that they didn't need to do that unless (mainly) the healers needed MP. They said they were only singing it for the other BRD to keep Foes up. Just shrugged it off as it seemed to work out but... it was a little odd. Is that what should be done with two bards? Not professing to be a brilliant bard but thought I knew my songs by now so this confused the hell outta me!

No, there's no reason for the second BRD to play Mage's so the first BRD can keep up Foe's. If Foe's falls off, give your MP a little time to regen, and then turn it back on (what I do). Or communicate with other BRDs. I have done 24-mans before where the bards all communicated Foe's usage. That way it can constantly be up (granted, if there are enough bards). Usually, I wait to see if anyone plays it pre-pull. If they don't, I stand outside the boss room and pop it on. If they do, I watch the boss, and when it falls off, I pop mine on. (Think I may make an alliance macro to alert other BRDs when I have Foe's up, so we aren't all playing at the same time.)

Playing Foe's doesn't lower your DPS, but Mage's and Army's does, so by that bard playing Mage's for the other, all they were doing was hurting themselves. And they are best reserved for when people need MP (healers) or TP (DPS--but tbh, I rarely have to play Army's at all since most DPS I run into can manage their TP).


On another note, actually wiped on Echidna in VA last night. Yup.
B and C tanks weren't controlling Dexter and Sinister. Tanked them right next to each other, actually. .__.

Oh thank god I was worried I just wasn't getting some new thing lol. I do the same as you, use Foes at the beginning, as MP regens see how the healer's doing, if they're fine pop Foes back on again with what little I have or once MP is full (if i'm doing a lot of dodging :P). Really I just wasn't sure 100% if the boost for the BLM's damage would negate the BRD's damage drop or not, so gave up on trying to advise :/

No worries! Foe's comes at no cost to a bard (except their MP, ofc ;p), so there's no worries about a DPS loss while using it. :3

Tbh, if a bard ever looked at me and told me to play Mage's for them so they could play Foe's (or another song or whatever) longer, I would probably be so dumbstruck I'd end up in an AOE and tank the floor. (Suddenly I'm reminded of that time a scholar told me I needed to be playing Mage's for a DRK...while he used Darkside...and that time a PLD demanded me to play Mage's so he could Flash-spam some more...)

(Granted sometimes I am on auto-pilot/have DPS tunnel vision in some instances on bard that I forget to turn mine on if I'm with a caster. XD So that's why I try to do it pre-pull now because I'm always focused on my DPS or my opener when we're on a boss. XD)

Did a run of Aurum Vale the other day.

On the first boss, the Machinist DPS kept running and grabbing the fruits closest to the boss. So me, a melee DPS, had to keep running far away to grab the fruits. I guess it's not a huge deal, but it was getting annoying.

On the next boss, the tank wasn't avoiding the swipes at first and kept taking unnecessary damage.

On the last boss, the Machinist wasn't even touching the adds. I couldn't kill them fast enough by myself and they kept going after the healer. We eventually wiped because the healer ran out of MP. We killed the boss on the next attempt though.

Man I'll never have that day where I can tell someone off just of how they come off to people, I'll never get that chance to give back what some of these " pros" and badases give out to people everyday. You don't ducking need to attack someone who's new to a fight cause their new. Why don't people instead of insulting people how about oh I DON'T KNOW. HELP THEM! OH but thats not my job, I"m trying to relax, watch a video be pro like I am. blah blah boohoo blahh. I'm so sick of people and their crap acting like their shxt don't stink. Man I just want ONE day... just ONE. But it'll NEVER happen cause good people always lose and shxtty horrible people always win cause LIFE. :/

I had a really nice A11N first run on the first week of the patch!

Apparently a couple of mentors (tank & healer) were running it for the loots together. So the healer suggested kicking my tiny BLM potato behind when I got locked out of the boss fight because of watching the cutscene. But luckily I wasn't kicked. Group wiped, I joined the second pull. Our off-tank was also new and made some mistake with the add or somesuch. Group wasn't able to recover and there was a second wipe. The main tank mentor went all ape-poop on the off-tank and the mentor-duo tried to votekick the off-tank out. Vote didn't pass and eventually we cleared. And of course the only tip about fight mechanics from the mentors came when I asked if there's anything I can do when I get marked for prey.

This is why mentor status should be the HARDEST thing to get in the game. You should only have it if you're the VERY BEST AT EVERYTHING. And after being testing to the extreme so people don't get dick mother buckers like the ones you seen in your group. I'm serious, the mentor system as it is now is gucking STUPID and needs to be changed FAST. Yes I'm misspelling those words on purpose as I was banned once for saying them. Which ofcourse kills my point as now it looks stupid but I think you get the idea.

Also, yeah, atm it's not exactly hard to get a mentor buff; I'm 822/1000 dungeons off of having it, but I'll easily obtain 1000 just from leveling my other classes via dungeon spam. POTD doesn't make it any harder, either. You could level up 60 from just doing that and never learn your class, or even read your skill spells. I know this because I leveled a tank to 50 and didn't look at any spells past maybe lvl 40 until I had to do HW content.
Imagine people doing that, but with lvl 60 content ...
