Went into leveling roulette last night with a couple of friends, and we get Sastasha. Brand new sprout marauder, first time message, and obviously skipped the Smith's lessons given their crappy gear and lack of the newbie ring. After a couple of pulls, it's pretty obvious that the tank doesn't really know how to tank, but none of us know much about warrior tanking to help the newbie, so we just sort of adapt and overcome to finish the dungeon. I look the tank up, and they're on my server. I try to PM them some advice about going through the new adventurer lessons, but they never respond, possibly because of PS4 with no keyboard...? I thought that it might be a trial account at first, but then I remember they were playing as an au ra. Dunno, but I hope they took my advice.

Could be they ignore tells due to RMT spam? I know personally I definitely would've missed something like that.

Early tanking is a bit of a crapshoot anyway, though. Yeah probably could've used some pointers, but at least early on is nice that, while learning, the party is still able to pick up the slack without much trouble. At least that's been my experience. And even with poor tanks, it can be kinda fun/interesting to have to adapt in different ways to adjust. I recall healing, hm... want to say Toto-rak possibly, with a PLD that never used Flash, and never cycled targets. As soon as I would heal, I'd have aggro on anything the tank wasn't targeting. An inconvenience, sure, but once I realized it would be a consistent problem, I just decided to sleep those off-targets at the start of the pull, let the group pick them off one at a time. Turned out to be a rather smooth run. Far from ideal, but fun nonetheless.

I had a PotD party yesterday that consisted of 4 DPS. Not one word was typed during the entire run and it was one of the smoothest 4-DPS runs I've ever seen, even though I died once.

Everyone worked together really well, never split up for no reason. Whenever we wanted to just sneak past a mob and not fight it, nobody went over to start smacking it. The other DPS were 2 MNKs and a NIN, and they were really good at stunning annoying attacks, too.

That's an example of a silent run I like, when the party is so good that they can perform flawless teamwork with complete strangers.

I thought HoN was now required before doing first dungeon?

No the MSQ brings you to HoN but it's optional to do

They should make required, as well not letting you disable active help unless you have a toon at max level.

I always turn around and sidestep or back into it if my group is slow.

What I mean is,The cast was finished at the moment I landed so there's no way to avoid that,Guess the timing is just bad.

So, I learned something new in Neverreap doing a 60 roulette last night....last boss I went to circle around one of the wind crystal things near the edge of the platform, when I ran right off the edge. Had no idea you could run off the edge in there....derp

Reminds me of a VA run I had a day or two ago. We had a total of 10 casters, one bard and one machinist. They got some serious use out of their Foe's Requiem and Promoted Bishop Autoturret.

You know that huge unavoidable AoE that knocks you back? Yeah that's intended to throw you off the platform :P
But really, you've been lucky to never see someone just wander off the edge or something like that. And hey, now you know.
