I have to vent about this run, I just did not have the patience to deal with these people... I queued for Leveling roulette for the 100 Esos, I have quite a bit of patience when it comes to newbies and how they deal with mechanics... but even before the pull, my patience was just immediately draining. I got Brayflox's Longstop, so we spawn in, the barrier disappears, I cast Protect... Paladin then proceeds to cast Protect afterwards too... okay, I mean it was up anyways but no big deal, better a PLD who knows about Protect than one who doesn't. So then on the first pull, he Shield Lobs and runs to the single mob and just wails at it, along with the Dragoon and the Bard, so now I have to heal so I start using Cure on him... I've grabbed aggro on two mobs. At this point, the Bard begins to sing Mage's Ballad, even though I am at nearly max MP, but I deduced that the Paladin has no clue how to AoE aggro, so back to my main point.

After the first group of mobs are dead, I try typing to tell him to apply Sword Oath and use Flash but he just goes and pulls the second set, I immediately follow and start casting Cures on him again, and again, I've grabbed aggro, but THIS time, it's on two Colibris and a Galago, so I'm taking about 300-400 damage every now and then, I went down to 104 HP and barely saved myself with a crit Cure II. At this point I am fuming to my SO on Discord, because the Bard is gimping their own damage for nearly no gain, and the tank just has no clue how to play his class. He applies Sword Oath after the second set of mobs just as I tell him to, then I tell him he has to use Flash to aggro mobs, got no response from him. After that, the bard jokingly says "no more songs xd", which to me is a little bit douchey considered I am helping the Paladin. We finally get to the first boss after the Bard was running around kiting a mob, and I stood there trying to heal everyone. At this point I was contemplating just up and leaving the dungeon, but I just went through with it. The tank pulls the boss and ignores the adds that are with the boss. I end up aggroing two of them, while the Dragoon tanks and takes down one of them, while the Paladin is just dancing around with the huge pelican. The Bard, meanwhile, stood behind the barrier line and got themselves locked out, they literally stood still and just did damage from behind the line, then when the barrier went up, they acted surprised... please, that purple line has been there since Level 15 and it's hard to miss...

At this point, I am at my wit's end... I have dealt with a tank who does not know what Flash is. A Bard who seems to think "I have a brand new shiny ability, I should use it instead of reading the tooltip that comes with it!", along with thinking "Ooh there's a line on the ground, and the boss is on the other side, let me stay on this side." I should not have to explain a mechanic that has existed for nearly 15 levels now. Fair enough about Flash and Mage's Ballad but they didn't listen to what I told them, so at this point I just posted a huge paragraph about how you should read your tooltips and how you should pay more attention to your surroundings, and then left. I just couldn't deal with the stupid there.

A story from a while ago:
Got Darkhold in leveling roulette. In my party was a summoner. Sorry, no, an arcanist. A level 48 arcanist.
When the tank asked him to stop his carbuncle from knocking back mobs all the time, his response was to unsummon the pet entirely.
When asked why he hadn't unlocked summoner yet his response was "I don't want to waste my time." To this day I am still confused by his reasoning.

Something I am not proud of is my alt character which I was leveling a MNK on for sole purpose of unlocking all zones/flight paths and leve NPC's (originally intended to be a pure DoH/DoL character), I leveled it all the the way to 60 without even unlocking a single 50+ job skill. It simply slipped my mind to do so because in no dungeon (MSQ story dungeons/trials) all the way up to 60 did I struggle to do sufficient DPS to clear the place in a reasonable time, not a single person ever commented on the fact I was not using a single 50-60 MNK job skill.

I don't use the MNK anymore (don't like playing MNK in general) since hitting 60 though because it served it's purpose which was to unlock HW, the flight paths and such. I would certainly have never tried doing the hard 60 content on it without picking up the job skills post-50 but I just find it funny that I forgot to pick them up and how no one ever complained about it. If someone had complained about it I may have gone off and picked them up but since no one ever did and I was able to clear all the content required without problem and in a timely manner so I forgot to pick them up. I was not carried either and my DPS was on par with most other DPS I came across even without them.

Second time tanking Aurum Vale. Let the party know at the beginning. Start pulling mobs carefully in the first room. Notice we're getting a lot of extra mobs running at us, go WTF? and realize the SCH is running around pulling half the room. We wipe (with aggro largely on me). Second try. SCH immediately pulls a mob, also attracting attention of the Nix. We wipe. Third try. "Please don't pull for me, it doesn't help" I ask.

For the rest of the run things go a bit smoother. I notice things getting pulled still ("I just asked you not to pull". "It was the pet." I don't recall if SCH pets can aggro new mobs on their own but they certainly don't run in spurts across the entire room on their own like this SCH's was!). Get to Coincounter, things are going OK. SCH and NIN both get hit by the big AoE, SCH doesn't heal either of them up enough and they both get hit again and die. "GG". BLM and I finish Coincounter off the last 50%.

Rest of the DF was just more of the same.

I guess it probably boils down to the Monk's main rotation doesn't really change from 50-60, you just get additional skills to your off global cooldowns. So unless the other party members know what to look out for they'd probably never bat an eye at you not using forbidden chakra and elixir field etc.

And from what little I've read of that character, they've been more than a little disruptive.
Yeah, harassment, threatening, and refusing to do the run, sitting there until the timer runs out... They been reported many many times over the past year or more. They even grab that there untouchable on the forums, and how there views are valid and everyone else that isn't top notch sucks and should leave the game.

This isn't a bad story it was a good experience actually I que'd up for lvling roulette on my Drk to get some fast Esos before work and I got into a group with all sprouts in Satasha normal and I asked them how they liked the game. They responded back with it's pretty fun just want gear and get their mounts which I said it was soon to not spoil anything. The healer made mistakes and got locked out but we were talking the whole time and they learned from what I taught them about throwing some DoTs out when you can in Cleric Stance, showing them how to tank and set up positionals for their Mnk in the party.

It was a great feeling to have all the positiveness in the group most dungeon groups don't talk at all these guys were talking a lot and asking questions about later gameplay. Sucks they weren't on my server or i'd invite them into my FC was awesome teaching people about the game and communicating effectively by saying "DPS the clams when they're open!", marked adds for them and everything wish I had runs like this everyday.

I actually had a couple of similar experiences in leveling roulette this week. Had a gladiator who was only using his riot blade combo so he was having issue holding aggro. I just assumed it was because new tank vs over geared people until I noticed that I kept seeing the animation for riot blade. I even went and changed the combat log to only show allied actions to make sure that was right. When I asked why he was only using the Riot Blade combo, he said because he thought it did more damage. As I was typing out the differences between riot blade and savage blade he actually read the skill descriptions of the two and realized his mistake. He then started using his savage blade combo and was doing better at holding aggro. I made sure to send him to the hall of novice as well to at least get the ring and help him out with some pretty simple basic stuff.

Next was Halatali. Still a gladiator, but his issue was more of the new player vs over geared issue, though he still did good at holding aggro. I decided to check his player info and noticed he only had gladiator leveled, and on a whim checked the sprout pug as well, same issue. So at the end of the dungeon I asked the two if they knew about cross class actions. The pug was just an alt on a different server while the gladiator was completely knew and had no idea about them. So we took a couple minutes of me explaining cross class actions to the tank, which classes he can pull from when he becomes a paladin and what levels in each he should get. Despite knowing them, the pug stayed around as well and when I told the tank about the hall of novice, they didn't know it was a thing and decided to go there as well for the leveling ring.

My finally one was in Satasha which also had a gladiator tank. He was doing ok during the run, lost aggro here and there, being the only one not synced. So at the end of the dungeon the tank asks me and I think it was the healer who was still there, might have been the other dps, if there was anything he was doing wrong that was causing him to lose aggro so much during the dungeon. We explained to him that it was more of a gear issue, couldn't really critique him as I wasn't giving his rotation much attention. Just like the other two, after talking, I tell him about the hall of novice for the ring and than I spent some time talking with the other person after the tank left.

It's definitely nice when you run into people that actually accept the help you try and give them, or go out of their way to ask for ways to improve themselves.

If everyone did play perfectly we wouldn't be able to have this entertaining thread anymore

WTF happened to Ramuh HM? I've been spamming trials for poetics and the last 10 times I've done it, people are just eating the orbs whenever they pop up so when someone finally does get tethered, there are no orbs to eat. I asked someone not to do that and the dummy replied "does it matter?" Yes, you imbecile, it clearly matters because the NIN I'm tethered to is literally killing himself because he won't stop attacking and I can't break the tether BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY ORBS TO EAT.
