A while back, two of my buddies and I decided to do a roulette. We end up in Sastasha (woohoo) with a tank who's new. I'm guessing this tank was a child or something, because he didn't do anything the whole time accept attack 1 enemy at a time. My rogue friend ended up being the tank the whole instance, while my hunter friend would take off anything that tried to murder me. (I was the healer) And then we have the supposed to be tank just hitting 1 guy in a corner. It was honestly a good laugh XD Was pretty fun too running in circles with all those enemies after me. Wasn't a horror thing for us, but thought I'd share anyways.

I have a feeling those 3 were together. They were probably just having fun in their own way.
    When leveling my tank to 60, my friends always purposely attacked whatever I wasn't attacking. But it was their way of "training" me. Now I'm always constantly paying attention to every enemy always tabbing to each one after every 1 to 2 attacks... @_@;;

Ran Cutter's Cry two separate times as AST - the first time, the DPS was very low for the Chimera. One of the DPS used a level two limit break, but the boss still had a lot of health left. Finally, it died after what felt like an hour. (I'm going somewhere with this, I promise) I ran it again later and when we get to the Chimera, one of the DPS was in a cutscene. Instead of waiting, the tank decides to pull the boss. Naturally, they get locked out. Ironically, the boss went down much faster with one dps than two.

In other news, I ran it again later on when I finally got Spread. I have mouseover macros for Draw and Royal Road, but I forgot to make one for Spread, so I ended up using a Balance and Bole on myself. GOOD JOB

Yesterday went into Mhach as tank. To make it short, not even one wipe also not even 1 gear piece or ANY item for me at all.

Well I got my coin so I'm still happy.

I made pretty much the opposite experience in Mhach yesterday. Joined in progress on my BLM as I already had coin and matter, only the loot was left, it was the third week of desperately trying to get the caster robe. It was the third run of Mhach that day, previous parties were full of mages so I lost the caster robe twice to them ;_; This time it wasn't better, a BLM and two SMNs, and when I joined group B, the alliance chat was literally flooded with people flaming. I learned that the raid just wiped at Ozma for the third time, that they managed to get the boss down to 14% in the first try, but after that, all the good players left.

Okay, a challenge. I accept it.

Try #4. I get a meteor marker, place it on the side platform left of us, while group A places theirs right of them, making it stack with mine, at the same time, group C places theirs too close to our platform. Group B gets literally annihilated. Our healers get raised, pull out raises to the summoners and then ENTER CLERIC STANCE. A lot of raising later our group finally wipes on the Atomos thingy while A and C are already dealing with the Ozmashade. People start releasing, after the Ozmashade phase, our dead bodies get teleported to our platform, other people die, I get a raise from another group's healer, accept it without noticing that everyone else is dead, so I'm the last man standing and get shot down by Ozma LOL.

Our tank starts spamming vote abandon. I mean, really spamming. When it's declined, they start another one, a total of four times, but it never gets through, and they don't leave either. Some people... but nevermind.

Try #5. This time group C gets wiped for whatever reason, so they're not available during Ozmashade, a shitload of people gets gaoled, we somehow don't manage to kill the Ozmashade before Doomsday smashes us. I really like the look of FFIX's Doomsday, and the FFXIV one isn't less impressive. I was actually kinda happy to have had the chance to see it. Yes, I'm crazy.

Try #6. Several people in our group die due to healers addicted to Cleric Stance (#selenedoesallthework), but people finally place the meteors right and we kill Ozma. Phew. Someone opens our chest... Yafaemi Jacket of Casting!!! And I won the roll against three other casters :') Feels so good. And looks swishy as shit, I love it!

It was my very first dungeon, Satasha. The entire run was a pain - the tank couldn't hold aggro on more than one mob at all times. Needless to say, whenever I healed I got aggro. It wasn't that big of an issue though, I could heal through the damage from the mobs and was lucky I didn't get too many interrupts so it was fine. Besides, the tank was a sprout, I was a sprout, we're both learning so no problem. That's until we came to the last boss. Said boss spawned one helluvalot of adds and, again needless to say, one heal and I grabbed the aggro. Now, these adds were a lot stronger than the random mobs in the dungeons so I found myself getting my booty kicked. I ran up to the tank, running around him and somehow finding the time to yell "TANK HELP ME" in chat. No response. I die, tank dies, DPS dies, my very first dungeon ends in a pathetic wipe. So I say, "Tank could you please take the adds off of me, I can't heal when they're attacking me."

To which the tank, the gladiator, the big hulking mass of armoured Roegadyn, answers, "We have no tank."

Yet again needless to say, my first dungeon experience in FFXIV wasn't exactly a good one.

Okay, that makes sense. I figured this would've been like my Dzamael Darkhold run that went south, resulting in the other guys making a beeline for the exit without even grabbing loot, like "Get me outta here! This tank sucks!" Now it's like "Hey, you had aggro trouble and you couldn't handle all the extra monsters we pulled for you because you kept running out of MP. Good job, man!" Huh?

Haven't quit a duty in a long time, lucky I guess. But the other day I just couldn't be arsed and took the penalty.
Levelling roulette on astro, got Sastasha with a fresh DRK. We pop, he goes "fresh DK, no idea what the skills do". I was typing some advice as he continues "and I don't read the tooltips cause Im a dumbass". I cancel what I was typing, and two groups of mobs later that he facepulled and didn't even attempt to tank while I was getting beaten up I say "gg" and leave.

Some days ago I tried DF for Titan X since I still have the kettle quest hanging there. Bad idea.
Only 3 players knew what they were doing, me included, rest no idea and a drg and whm said they were new. Fair enough, explanations were given, spots were marked, there we go. I think the first try we didn't even make it to second set of plumes, but no worries, we try again. We all were new at some point and I have no problem with that. The amount of medica2 spammed was a bit worrying (both whms were spamming everytime the GCD was up) but meh whatever. We try again.
Adjustments were made, we kept wiping but overall improvement was made. Except: my fellow blm was all the time near the far edge which caused the plumes to spread everywhere since melees also weren't always cluttered in one spot. I advised him to stay with the group and explained how the plumes worked, he said it sucked but ok, he'll stay with the group. The other problem were the whms. One complained he always was out of mana so I suggested to not spam medica2 when people were full hp, to only use it when needed, and another player suggested again (this was said on every try) for the healers to stay away from the group for gaols. The whm that said at the beginning she was new, complained then asking how she could medica2 when she had to stay away. I said "if you really insist on spamming medica2 you can do it from the edge, it will reach everyone", which it does when Titan reduces the ring, and really before that you don't need such a spam.
Try again, apparently deaf ears for the whms since they kept doing their thing. The new one even spammed medica2 before pull and regened both tanks, I think she did it out of despise, and god how I hate the sound of medica2. Again we wipe, it's a mix of freeing the healer first from gaol, then the dps, ppl getting knocked off with landslide, plumes again everywhere, gaols too close together due to whms coming in to spam medica2; we made it a few times to heart and even once to egi adds with half of the party dead. Then the new whm gets advised to stay at Titan's arse when he lifts the leg. What does she do? She goes to the other side, to the leg that's down and gets knocked off. Le sigh.
20 minutes left, and vote abandon pops up. I think I never clicked "yes" so fast. I swear I went that night to bed still with the bloody sound of medica2 in my head.

Got kicked for the first time in over two years from Keeper of the Lake for AOE'ing mobs of 3+ as a BLM. And I quote from both the healer and the tank... "BLM's don't AOE. They are for single-target only. You need to learn your class". The other DPS and I thought this might be a lame attempt at humor. It was not.

What kills me is that the tank was obviously extremely new (at least to tanking) based on his gear. But the healer, if I remember correctly, had the Archmage title.

And as a healer, most guides are from a tanks perspective, and I have to rely on my knowledge of my skillset more so than a video.
Don't worry about it for dungeons or for normal/hard content - going in blind is fine if you're observant, or just reading a quick text guide. Being well prepared or frustrating people is more a thing in extreme/savage content, which you shouldn't try unless you really want a challenge and feel comfortable with your job.. Which might take awhile after you hit 60. Extreme/savage can be extremely frustrating and difficult without a "static" group.
