I give up with you people. Forum community is absolutely unhinged. Imagine joining my alt's FC just to wait for me to come online to harass me lmao.
I've only done 1 leveling roulette as sage, and the tank and a dancer died because I missed putting Swiftcast, Surecast, and Esuna on my bars. Though, the tank didn't dodge...anything...and when I was paying attention they didn't use any CDs. The RDM almost died in that same pull(last one before second boss of Dzamael Darkhold), but I got the insta-heal off just in time after ressing the tank.
It happened, it finally happened, a failed duty. We voted abandon with 5 mins left on the timer and had we more time, we still wouldn't have made it, because one of our healer was the absolute worse player I have ever seen, and I don't say that lightly.
The duty in question was a Trial, the lvl 87 trial, which most who've done it will agree has some difficulty to it for a Normal duty. I explained the Dawn Mantle mechanic, which was everyone's biggest challenge, and the rest of the group learned pretty quickly but that healer... a WHM, died to every-single-mechanic. They did nothing right, the world's most useless superpower. Even after I told them to follow the player marked as triangle, they continued to die every other mechanic, get rez'd, then die again 15 seconds later... for the entire duration of the Trial.
Everytime they had a spread mechanic. they would run around in a panic and seemingly try to stack on top of people, then die and sometimes take another player with them. I had to sprint away from the crazy muppet a few times as they were, quite literally, chasing me. I wanted to kick them so we can finish the duty so bad but knew no one would back it up, so instead we all wasted over an hour dying to a fight we all understood except for this one guy. I was just doing my Trial Roulette, but I feel bad for those who were just trying to move forward with their story.
If you are incapable of grasping mechanics, even after they are explained to you and despite a marked player indicating where to stand, please, I beg of you, just use the Trust (yes, it can be used for that one Trial) and don't drag seven other people down with you. I am beyond frustrated :/
Next time, I'd just attempt the vote kick regardless - the worst it can do is not go through. For all you knew, others in the run wanted to get rid of them as well, but were also afraid to try because they, too, were thinking it wouldn't pass.It happened, it finally happened, a failed duty. That said, big major oof and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I honestly haven't seen how bad that fight is in PUGs yet, the only time I did it was with my Trust party. Have yet to land in it for roulette - only The Dark Inside and the final trial. I almost hope I won't see it for a while yet, as every story that people have told about it through DF has been uh... special.

I am livid.
I went to eat, the queued for another Trial Roulette. This time I get Nidhogg, easy-peazy. Ninja is asking how to LB, Healers are dying all over the place, we wipe, Tank DCs. The clueless ninja is the group leader and doesn't know how to requeue us, so we try again, minus a tank. Everyone dies to everything, they move out after the first stack despite repeatedly asking everyone to STAY because it FIRES OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. A DPS drops out. The tank ninja pulls, we wipe again, same story. Vote abandon, duty over.
2 failed duties... in a row.
I am being punished for something, I am certain of it, and whatever it is, I am deeply, sincerely sorry.
And Kaoru, thanks for the advice, you are correct and from now on, I'll be less reluctant to vote dismiss as it isn't fair for the rest of the group who should have rightfully gotten their kill.
A bit ago, I had decided that I could do one more dungeon before logging out. The level 87 dungeon.. To say it was a disaster, would be an understatement. I had done an earlier one that went very well. Big, beautiful, pulls, no issues. This time, All three of the other players.. were first timers.. They were cordial in the chat (even though they were saying twitch emote names), so it seemed alright. I pull big, and I mess up, I missed my tank stance! It was my bad. I pull again, this time with tank stance, it was a bit iffy, but we got it. I pull the next two groups, we wipe. Of course. First boss, we had no real issues. After this, I pulled the next two groups. Wipe, I should have figured it would happen, but I pulled it anyway. So, I just stop pulling two groups at that point - not that it mattered since the next ones were the last two groups you can even pull like that. Anyway, second boss, they were failing mechanics, but still, no real issues. We then get to the final boss... Yeah, this was bad. Really, really bad.
Nobody else could figure out the mechanics, the healer survived the first try for a decent amount of time, I think because he was following me around, but then he inevitably died to something. Wipe. Second try, this went much worse than the first, this time the healer was failing more mechanics - I guess he had stopped following me around as much. For some reason meteors was the hardest one for them to figure out. Wipe. Third try, they weren't failing as many mechanics, but still they all did die here and there, luckily one of the DPS was able to survive long enough this time (a smn), so he could res. Took FOREVER.. but we finally cleared. This run was 50 minutes long. I'll cut them some slack, because they were new, but wow - I was not expecting that long of a run.

WHM | RDM | DNC
went in the level 89 dungeon today as a warrior, got as far as the first boss and one of the dps disconnected, we kicked after waiting a couple of minutes and got a replacement pretty fast, we proceeded onwards until we go near the end then the other dps disconnected, we waited ac couple of minutes but they didn't come back so we kicked but we got new replacement after waiting a minute, so we went a proceeded to fight the final boss, and a minute or so in the remaining dps disconnected it was just me and the healer slugging it out against the boss for the next 10 minutes, the dps reconnected with about 5% of the bosses health left. Probably the lognest dungeon boss I've been in, let's just say I'm very familiar with that boss's mechanics now.
I encountered one of them who proudly said, "I don't heal people who get hit". Completely not understanding the concept of raidwide damage apparently.
I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in that "Summoner is unacceptable" thread, but here's my story of the day:
So, I decided to give SMN a go in the 2nd extreme trial. We were a fresh prog group mostly from the same FC ready to have some fun.
You want to know what happened? All those complaints about the summons blinding people were proven right.
I killed them all, multiple times. We couldn't get past the first phase because I kept blinding everyone. It didn't seem right to force everyone to change spell effects to limited just to accommodate 1 specific job...
I ended up switching to tank, and we managed to clear it thanks to the lack of summons hiding the mechanics. I suppose I'll have to level RDM or BLM if I want to play a caster, because my SMN is apparently more lethal than any boss...![]()
