Doing roulettes yesterday with my FC team. We started with trials and got Ramuh. I was MT and my friend was OT, and since we were both collecting poetics, the new person bonus was a beautiful message to behold. Anyways, I think more than one person was new, because no one knew to eat the orbs when they were tethered to another. I'm tanking and typing out advice in the chat when I notice my health just plummet. Pop convalescence and Dark Mind, and my health doesn't move even though I see "Cure"--"Cure"--"Cure" over and over again. Look up, and the healer is healing me in CS. I mention it in the chat (as my cooldowns fall off and my health drops to 30%). WHM keeps on healing. In cleric.
We wipe to Judgement bolt because people weren't killing adds. Before I pull, I explain the mechanics again. The SCH (who spent the entire first part tethered to the WHM) says "Oh! I'm supposed to eat the orbs?" (This was after we had been typing it out over and over in the chat before the wipe. I reply yes and explain that eating three breaks the tether. I wait patiently for them to summon Eos/Selene. They don't so myself and my FC mate ask them which faerie they plan to use. They summon Eos. Round two begins. We kill the adds fast enough, but we still wipe. WHM gets terrored (as does my friend) and no one shocks them out of it after myself and a MNK kept telling them to shock them out of terror. I die because WHM is dead and SCH isn't healing me. SCH uses LB2...while only him and two DPS are alive. -__- wipe #2.
Third time we finally cleared but God. Both of those healers got carried so hard. I understand the SCH was new, but when you have 4 party members shouting mechanics at you... ;-; why not listen? I walked away with 4 comms but still.
MS roulette: get Praetorium and proceed to groan inwardly, but the new player bonus pops and that makes it a little better I guess. Tanks run ahead and aggro first group, but then don't stay behind and the mobs all aggro myself and my friend (we're both on WHM). The entire rest of the party gets slaughtered because my friend and I are stunned (and then dead) and the tanks are like "Lol you're supposed to go through the transporter." I said "Hard to do when you're stunned because the tanks went through the transporter first."
Now, we had 4 new people in this party. So half were new (though I think one of the tanks was on an alt, but still). New people try in vain to watch the cutscenes but mentor tank pulls first boss. With only the two tanks and the two healers in the room. The DPS all leave the cutscene and sprint into the room. I'm a little annoyed now because these tanks are just running around in Sword Oath (because mentor tank said if one used Shield Oath they would be fighting for aggro????), and I know MS is super easy and most cheese it nowadays, but some of the new people looked like they wanted to experience it at the game intended (I.e., with mechanics and cutscenes).
Anyways, myself, the mentor tank, and my MNK friend are bickering in the chat because the mentor tank doesn't want to wait for the new people. They accuse us of biting their head off, and yes I was cross, but I got cheated out of my first run because people didn't want to wait for me and I didn't want to be that person for these new people. A DRG keeps jumping in and is like "barely seeing any of this place is how I prefer things" and I just respond that maybe, but others are different. And when half of the party is new, it's probably good to be a little bit more patient.
Idk. I know people rush through MS and just want it over with, but I felt bad for the bean sprouts in there. :/ And I know there's PF and they can make PF parties for non-cheesed clears, but when I did MS, I was completely unaware of what PF was and how to use it. >.<;;;
