Had a great run in Dohn Meg as a DRK tank.
DPS (SAM and DNC) all wore 400+ ilv gear and healer(AST) had a mix of ShB lv70 crafted wear and random lv71 dungeon gear but it was all doable.
The 2nd pull before first boss healer even managed to heal me through Living Dead which felt absolutely good (it is rare to get that off most of the time for me)
The healer kept saying he was undergeared but I probably consider that if he wore the lower Tome tier set or still using SB AF gear lol. Fast dps and good healing.

The final boss was funny as I got rescued during the ropewalk phase and he apologised (and honestly I was not even upset, I understood he wanted for me to skip the part as I fell down before but it gave me a good chuckle).
The only sad part is me rolling a bloody 1 on the minion, oh well

Still it is one of those times I really wish I could commend the whole party...

I've had a couple of runs of endgame content where I've basically been MT by default because none of the other tanks are pulling. Not my favorite experience but I'm not generally the type to complain about my role in dungeons and raids.

I just wanted to thank the group I was with in Dohn Mheg last night. They put up with my vertigo trying to cross the walk way after the floor gave way. I apologize to anyone in advance about this if you ever get me in a group I honestly can't control it heights even in games brings it on.

I seem to be subscribed to Qitana trap parties for leveling roulette.

    So, Qitana Ravel with :
    - SCH, combat mentor
    - MNK, combat mentor
    - BLM, first timer
    - PAL, me.

At first nothing bad, thought things were dying a bit slow, but eh.

Really noticed things were slow when I had to use all my CDs on pull 1 after boss 1, but didn't take not straight away. Only realized when I finish pulling everything in the second pull (which can be spicy) and notice I don't have any CD available. We eat the wipe, my bad, shouldn't have pulled that much with CDs down.

Second boss, we get our second wipe. The mentor SCH dies to the falling columns, BLM too but he's new so he is forgiven.

It's only on the trash between boss 2 and boss 3 that I notice something : Leaden Fist keeps popping up in the MNK buffs...Turns out he was using his single target rotation on every trash pack, definitely explaining why stuff was so slow to die...

Well, we come up to the last boss and I just hope to be done with this group at this point....Until we wipe two times because the healer dies, both time to the charge after being tethered and not going away.

It was at this point I decided to eat the penalty and just leave, I didn't have any patience anymore.

I feel bad for the first timer BLM, but those two mentors were absolute complete clowns.

My co-healer whm popped a profane (I probably took too long because of looking at the party hud and realizing people were not ready for this run, and popping Bubble on the squishies), and I popped a templar. We had people die on the first and second boss plus trash and mines, but it felt like everything was taking far too long to die. Some people were also timing out on rezes my co-healer and I were tossing out between Glare spams.

I get not understanding mechanics but several people just were wanting to hug the floor too much. Then we finally got to Trinity Avowed.

One of the tanks pulled after everyone got buffed up, and once the deathwall appeared the drg stood there and ate it...and despite the 14 raises (yes 14, I scrolled through that entire bloody chatlog and counted), that were tossed their way, they just sat there getting their hard carry in silence. I even asked them if they were there. Nope, just sudden afk without a word and not accepting any raises until Avowed died. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

They continued to do the same thing on the Queen. Mostly auto attacking as I would watch them lose Disembowel and not reapply it for minutes at a time. Why pay to play this game when you're not even trying to participate?
I remember there being a person here on the forums who has claimed they were going to be doing that, they are also a very well known troll who thinks anything less than ultimate should never be implemented. Possible one of their alts was in that run with you.

But that is definitely one reason to form a speed run PF for DRn. Can get it done SUPER fast(as compared to the 45min - 1 hour runs through regular queue), and you get people who will actually use essences/actions...and nobody that is dead weight.

I do need to get into a PF for DR, eventually. I wasn't expecting to have someone literally afk an entire fight by sitting on the wall.

However speaking of dead weight: I got out of a Breach run earlier where my co-healer was afk for most of the fights until Her Inflorescence. I also had people in my party just eat mechanics like no tomorrow, and the MCH, one of the dps that died often because he was all the way out in Narnia get mad at me for not raising him. I was trying to raise my co-healer who I realized during Hansel and Gretel was afk.

When H&G died, the MCH basically went into 'ffs, I'll take one' mode and ragequit the instance, and I was told 'good job Alaha', which made me feel like I was forcefully expected to be doing full 100% constant cure spamming like a bad whm would do. And apparently now big dingus energy dps take priority on healing and ressing over a co-healer.

The rest of the raid went just as poorly until Her Inflorescence, probably because they were still looking for the glam pieces they had mentioned earlier, but those never dropped.

I honestly would have asked the party to roll on loot to votekick the afk healer. If you're not going to put in the effort, I refuse to carry the whole party with healing and let you get glamour items you want with being afk. It's not fair to anyone else and certainly not fair to you :c

I have another tale to share, a rough Brayflox Longstop that took way longer than it should have been.

    Brayflox Longstop
I queued into Brayflox Longstop leveling my DRG, straightaway the healer pipes up with "I'm new to healing" which is fine, which the party is basically two sprouts; the sprout PLD and a sprout BLM with a not new WHM (they have DNC leveled to 80 and a few other classes leveled to around 70). As the dungeon starts, the PLD single pulls... annoying, but it's alright since they're a sprout and from their search info, they had a SMN leveled to around 60 or so. The WHM is spamming only Cure 1 through the whole dungeon which makes me internally scream as they are spamming the spell even when the tank's health is pretty much 90%, and refuse to use damage spells, burning through their MP until it drops to around 1000, and then popping Lucid Dreaming to fish for "Freecure". I stay silent throughout the whole dungeon until we reach the final boss where we wiped.. twice.

The first time, the PLD was keeping the dragon in the poison pools, which I said "Move him out". Apparently the PLD didn't read chat, and they spun the dragon around, with the WHM still spamming Cure 1, and poison pools pretty much covering half of the arena with the PLD still standing in the poison. When the PLD dropped, WHM started hardcasting raise, which caused me to die since I was second on the aggro list. We run back and I tell the WHM to stop spamming Cure 1 and use Cure 2 over it, fishing for Freecure is useless and to use their damage spells. They say okay, and we start the second run. PLD at least moves the dragon out of the poison pools this time, but the WHM is now spamming Cure 2 and puts Aero on the boss, not even using a single Stone despite me saying "Don't spam Cure 2, if the tank's health is above 50%" and "Use your damaging spells between heals"... it didn't go over well, PLD dies, they panic and start casting Medica, I die then I go back to the start after death since the WHM's MP was 1000.. again. They die, and I repeat again, to not spam Cure 2, only use it when necessary, and use their damage spells.

Third time we pull and it goes well, still rocky since the WHM was actively trying to take my advice and I saw a few Stones going out this time and an Aero (I did a silent cheer when I saw that), and using their Cure 2 when needed. I had to remind them to Esuna since the PLD had 4 poison stacks at one point, but it went pretty well. I did give a commend to the BLM though, they were pretty much doing their rotation pretty well throughout the whole run, and I would have give the commend to the WHM... except they weren't new. That was the only thing that kept me from commending their effort, since they had a class to 80, a few classes to 70 and 60 which meant they encountered plenty of healers through their leveling experience. Yes, healing for the first time is a bit overwhelming (although at the same time it's really simple), but they should have maybe been watching other healers actually deal damage/put up their DoT on enemies through their leveling process for other classes?

I just had an Aurum Vale run where the tank ended up dying around 6 or 7 times, from single pulls of 3 or 4 mobs, all while the tank was mitigating properly and not getting hit by any unnecessary damage. Everyone else, myself included, ended up dying around 3 or 4 times when said mobs would end up aggroing onto the rest of the party.

It's just.. baffling? The healer had The Soul of Magic title which means all 3 of their healers were at 80 as well as all their casters, but all they did was just stand around, sometimes go afk while the tank was pulling, and I don't think I've ever seen them do a damage spell. They just stood there until healing was needed, and even if healing was needed sometimes they would zone out.

If I had to guess it was someone high level multiboxing with a low level account, basically doing healing only on one character and dpsing on their ninja; either way after getting to the 2nd boss I got sick of watching the tank die every other pull because the healer was zoning out and initiated a vote kick, which unsurprisingly failed.

I can't be 100% sure if it's multiboxing, but considering I didn't want to eat the penalty for leaving I just went with it, then we got to the final boss and the healer intiated a vote kick that passed so quickly I barely got a chance to click "No"

It was probably a revenge vote kick because the multiboxer assumed it was the tank who initiated the first vote kick and probably just wanted to see their time wasted by waiting till the last second, and it's honestly really sad because even through all that stupidity the tank ended up voting to not kick the terrible healer just to get wrongly revenge booted out

I have seen a kick like that happen way too often. I definitely laughed when I read that though, thinking "of course". That's actual kick abuse, but the tank getting kicked after voting not to, is just hilarious.

Situational Awareness is a learned skill and not something your average XIV player is going to develop. Until you actually play a role it's hard to tell what they're doing vs. what they're supposed to be doing. Even then when I play DNC I'm pretty focused on my procs and boss telegraphs to play hall monitor on the healer.

Brayflox itself is a wakeup call for healers. Things hit harder and Esuna becomes a really good idea. If that WHM didn't wrap their head around it until the final boss I shudder to think how the first one went.

At least they seemed open to advice and tried to put it into practice.
