I hate this "you pull, you tank" mentality, it's really dumb when it happens and wastes so much time in dungeons. Granted, considering the RDM didn't stop pulling when you asked, that RDM should have been kicked. Honestly, we should stop the argument here. I've had too many arguments with people over the "you pull, you tank" over the past month and seeing it again here is quite frankly annoying.

I would put my own tales here again... but unfortunately I have nothing noticeable to share, except I just recently entered Bozja content... I don't like Bozja :c

You're absolutely right. I never intended to launch that kind of debate yet again, just wanted to share my frustration with what happened in this particular dungeon run. But people are free to discuss, and they just ran with it.

For the record though, I explicitely stated that I don't do the "you pull it you tank it" schtick. But when a DPS quite full of themselves keeps giving me grief, I don't have to put up with it either. Hence why I left the instance. And I'm done talking about this.

I know you stated that, and leaving was the best choice for you in that dungeon. Personally, I never leave dungeon runs no matter how horrid they may be, but maybe it's because I'd feel too guilty to bail lmao. But yes, you didn't have to put up with that and I do hope your future dungeon runs go as smoothly as possible. Best of luck to you!

I don't see many posts here from the perspective of the player who was fucking up, so here's one:

As a preface, I haven't played since HW, and just came back to see the story since then.

It was Sirensong Sea and I was playing WAR because that's what I was playing before I left so I felt pretty comfortable with it, and story dungeons are normally pretty simple so I watched a quick vid of it and queued up. I let everyone know at the start that it was my first time but I tried to pull big, still feeling confident from my 2.0-3.0 memories, but apparently my memories (and my settings) were not what I thought. My Overpower wasn't targeting the way I remember, the camera was getting stuck on the environment or something so I had to actually move my character to be able to see the other half of the screen to keep an eye on my team mates, causing a few enemies to get away from my whirlwinds. My muscle memory on my cooldowns was gone since I had to completely redo my hotbars. I was choking and pressing buttons, staring at my hotbars looking for what I needed and missing my rotation. But I did manage to get through until the last boss, where I instantly forgot everything I saw in the video and had no idea how to avoid the forced march mechanic. On top of that, my D-Pad decided it was done for the day and refused to retarget the boss after I had to cancel the lockon to be able to run out of an AOE instead of slowly walk (I don't remember this ever being a problem before), so I'm trying to make that work instead of paying attention to AOEs and wiped us.

The healer was pissed at me, I guess rightfully, but I did use my cooldowns better to get through it and I DID at least remember my tank stance. (I'm not really sure why it's a toggle stance still instead of just a passive trait, since there seems to be no more DPS stance to trade with)

I feel like I'm in a completely different game from what I left in 3.0 and need some place to practice all the changed stuff and get my settings right before I inflict myself on other players as a tank again.

I have also ordered a new controller.

I'd like to say to anyone who encounters someone like that in a roulette or whatever, being hostile to them doesn't really help. "Tank doesn't know how to play" and "omg this guy" or "do your job so I can DPS instead of heal you" isn't going to make the run any better, it's more likely to make them screw up more. I figured it out myself, but it wasn't a good learning experience.

I've been getting BLMs that either spams fire 3 OR they spam Fire 3 > Blizz 3. Seen mostly in 50 dungeons.

8 man, 24 man, and 48 man content.

Off tanks don't want to spin the tank by getting agro in the burst.

In regards to the dps pulling thing, my take on it is quite simply that it's a matter of context and entirely situational.
It all boils down to who's being the asshole.
Like there's a difference between a DPS who pulls by mistake or who will stop pulling when asked to for example, and a DPS who keeps doing it and is all like '' stop crying '' when you ask them to stop.

If a DPS or Healer pulls by mistake or runs off to grab another group and runs them into your AoE so you get aggro and you like sheathe your weapon and just stand there and let everyone die then yeah.
    You're being a jerk.
On the other hand if the Tank can't keep up for whatever reason and you're just reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally insistent on it repeatedly as a DPS or Healer then I think you're kinda being a jerk too.
Even moreso if you act like a child about it and go down the whole '' y u mad stop cryin '' route because someone simply asked you to stop.

In the end of the day not being an asshole goes a long way.
Often times it's not necessarily about what you do but about how you do it and also what you say.

I kinda feel guilty about the rare cases when it happens too.
At the same time if they're not willing to votekick the problem in the group then I kinda feel a bit less guilty about it.

    My healer head still hurts.

Just got out of a run with an fc mate on 80 roulettes. He wanted his tomestones and I wanted to take a break from doing alliance raids (tis true they do numb the mind after a while). So we partied up and we got Heroes Gauntlet. Joy. The one dungeon I barely have done, maybe uh...three times since it came out?

He had made mention of a terrible Don Mheg run earlier in which the AST in the party was pulling for the tank, thereby getting him killed several times, so I decided to hop on WHM to help out.

So we load in, and the party is WAR WHM MNK DRG, with my friend on DRG and me on WHM. I immediately look up at the party HUD and realize wow, the mnk's hp is 98k...I wondered why until I saw their equipment: 'twas a mix and match of 74-77 gear, with a couple 80 exarc pieces plus the 80 Samsara to boost their ilvl to get in. Fokin' ay...

Spoodler alert: mnk never said anything and never asked about mechanics.

You can imagine how pulls went: rather slow, and I was running out of ogcds to keep the WAR tank up until Flash was off cooldown for them, to which my pleasant surprise they were riding that cooldown timer like a sugar addict after a box of donuts. After the first boss (the mnk was new and nearly died, which I can forgive), my friend decided to just Eye tether the tank as that's proving to be far more helpful than our mnk friend who, while doing a bit of aoeing and just...kinda...running around, they were doing so little damage it was kinda sad to watch.

Second boss, the infamous Necromancer, they died twice on. First one they didn't move away from puddle aoes and thought the ground was far more entertaining that a ghost lady. Second one was entirely on them as they were hugging the tank with an aoe marker.

Trash up to the third boss naturally took longer than I was expecting (I did see them pop Perfect Balance but that might've been a fat finger), but eventually we dragged the mnk up to the last boss, good ol' Berserker.

I want his cape dammit SE. Give it to me D:<

So I tell the mnk to keep his stack marker with their rock. Apparently they didn't bother to read chat because the first rock stack mechanic that went out, they brought THEIR STACK MARKER WITH THE DRGs. You can guess what happened. Bonus points if you guessed that both of them died.

I ended up raising my FC mate first, and left the mnk on the ground because mechanics first. Once my Swiftcast was back I got them back up. Guess what they did once I healed them to full?

They stood right next to the boss right as the boss turned to do his directional slap. Guess who didn't move for it while everyone else moved away? If you guessed the mnk, you're right! Here's a gold star for you! However, they lived and moved behind the boss when he had turned only to eat another directional slap to the face, and promptly ate dirt.

Ain't nothin' I can do about that vuln stack buddy. ESPECIALLY when you're THAT undergeared. Unfortunately more stack mechanics were going out and I was still waiting on swiftcast to come off cooldown, so the mnk sat there for a while longer. At least near the end when the next directional slaps went out they ACTUALLY MOVED WITH US. Oh my god Stan, they're learning!

Also did you know that if someone's dead and the boulder stack mechanic goes out, the boulder pile will remain there until he decides to do the roomwide kill cleave from the back? If not, you learned something today!

We finally put down Berserker and the tank, naturally, quickly leaves the instance. I don't blame them. That mnk was just...a migrane coupled with an mp sink.

If you're new, and don't know the dungeon or mechanics, please, I beg of you, speak up. We're more than happy to help you figure it out. But when you're a silent drone and just don't ask and get yourself killed repeatedly, it feels like we're hard carrying you and forces more work onto the rest of the party.

Literally what I said when I replied to your first post about it in agreement. The problem being; a lot of people on here have done the same or won't admit to being bad dps....or they enable the behavior because "Tank has x CD that will take back aggro". Which its never about. Its the issue with bad DPS who wasn't taught to communicate with said tank. You even told him to stop...and he didn't listen...and somehow that turned into butthurt dps/enablers trying to spin the narrative that you should "just tank better"...so apparently reading comprehension is another issue.

I feel your pain, both as a tank/healer for 10+ years in MMO's and even when I do dps....I detest the rush mentality....even when you're going fast already. Rogues in WoW were notorious for this. The other issues are the people not teaching proper dungeon/raid behavior. Its all sunshine and rainbows when everything goes smoothly, but there's always one moron with a peanut gallery consisting of "Must be the tanks fault".

It was via party finder, not duty, but uh....

Just had the most annoying experience I've ever had.

Opened a party for the Bahamut Coils with my friend. We got a whole bunch of lvl60s. Ok. We'll run unsynced, no problem. We got to 2nd Coil Turn 3 and everything's going wrong so fast. We had just beaten the Medusa one too, so this should not be harder than that. I'm telling people what to do in party chat and so is one other person (the other tank, who was great btw), but this one person kept messing up (2nd tank). So we repeated ourselves over and over again. On the eight wipe or so, he finally says "Here's a video showing how to fight it". We load the youtube video. It was a Rick Roll. He had been trolling us the entire time. We had wasted so much time, only for it to be this guy was purposely losing and screwing everything up. My friend and I left via Abandon Vote, and now we're so annoyed we don't even want to do it.

And for what purpose did he do this? What do people like that gain from something like that?
