I have come with yet another tale, and it is World of Darkness.

After doing some chocobo races, I decided to queue for Alliance Roulette thinking it would be over with quickly and the duty got withdrawn three times before eventually it went through, and sure enough World of Darkness.

It started up normal enough, I load in and click Dinural like I usually do since my co-healer is in a cutscene. Whole alliance rushes forward to the first room, and my co-healer doesn't choose a sect until the first room's mobs are already dead and she chooses... Dinural. No big deal, so I swap to Nocturnal and keep going forward. And soon, as our alliances reach the dreaded eyeball, our tank in C rushes forward and pulls. Does he face the boss north? No he does not.

Instead he keeps the boss facing south, which annoys me but the alliances and myself adjust accordingly... but then the tanks start fighting for aggro, particularly alliance's A tank and my alliance C tank and oh boy, people start dropping due to the lasers. I immediately start trying to keep up my shields on everyone, but unfortunately my co-healer isn't healing? Or rather, she keeps dying over and over again and I have to keep raising her. Doom repeatedly makes my co-healer as well as most of the DPS in my alliance eat the floor in typical DRG fashion and my MP keeps dropping fast as I try to balance out my shields, keep C's tank alive (whom also repeatedly dies to doom), as well as get the other alliance healers off the floor as well. The adds spawn and cast their aoe and more people drop since none of the other tanks stunned them nor did we have enough DPS up. Somehow I'm still alive but unfortunately our group didn't have LB3 so we wipe.

Second attempt doesn't go any better. In fact, the same stupidity repeats and our tank keeps pointing it south and fighting for aggro with A's tank. My co-healer really isn't helping at all, not healing the tank while I'm trying to keep up shields and make sure no one is on the floor as well as putting out my card buffs, and of course we wipe since my MP is not unlimited, and the other alliance healers were not on their feet either.

This repeats for FOURTY-FIVE minutes, two vote abandons failing, with my co-healer being mostly useless, not putting out her card buffs nor was she using Aspected Helios as much as she should have been using it, and my resources being spread thin since essentially I was covering for her lack of much input. After the second vote abandon failed since I typed in party chat to her "Insert player name here, can you please use your regens?" And she replied with "I was." Then leaves.

Luckily enough, our tank for C also leaves, with us getting a replacement tank whom had left earlier from the first vote abandon who was apparently a DRG on alliance A.

We wait for a few seconds considering people were leaving the instance but they were quickly replaced, I switched back to Dinural as another AST fills up my former co-healer's place whom picked Nocturnal and once everyone charged in, it went amazingly smoothly. My co-healer was actually contributing this time, and he was using his card buffs, shielding the party while I could cast my regens on the tank and put up regens for the whole party when it was needed. To say that I was relieved was an understatement.

When the whole duty was finished, my co-healer left before I could give him a commend. Really wish I could have done so, he was great and certainly a breath of fresh air after my first co-healer. I did leave with two commendations though, which is nice.

I really need some sleep now, I had hoped this alliance raid would be over with quickly... hoo boy I was wrong.

The sad part is, there are 100% the types who'd sit there and not even complain about it.

They are also usually the types to bark at anyone so much as even trying - nicely, at that! - to offer advice to sprouts who are clearly struggling, or people new to a hard fight. The forever-enablers who crow about how "great" and "friendly" the XIV community is, while of course disowning anyone who doesn't fit into their weird cult idea of how XIV's community is and should be.

I've been running into the types a lot in some of my roulettes and it is a big reason I've been focusing on my lowbie alt just casually doing MSQ during the day. I don't have to deal with idiots, and on the rare occasion I do a normal queue to a story dungeon rather than a friend blasting through for me, I tend to get matched with sprouts at least willing to listen - which is a refreshing change from how it is at endgame, with a bunch of people who got carried thinking they know how to play their job when they really... really don't.

To contribute though: I am once again asking that people please don't take the bikes if they aren't top in Dalriada!!

Yesterday, my group got screwed out of our healer because some mentor monk decided they'd jack the bike right in front of them. If it wasn't for the fact I was running with a friend who had packed in some lost Cures on their red mage, that would have been very dicey. Aurora doesn't really cut it compared to something like Clemency.

That monk also proceeded to follow people with AoEs on the flubber boss and got two of mine killed. Like... what's your damage, man?

Unfortunately there's a sizable part of the playerbase that will carry these people through without a word. Doesn't help much that a lot of the time people try to help, you are met with silence or "stop harassing me!!!!!" (And then other people enable THAT behavior).

Oh thank you! I'll keep that in mind and do that from now on, didn't know I could do that. I'll go ahead and edit my post then so I don't take up too much space ^.^

Well, I have two neat little stories to share. The first involved a trial roulette that threw me into Emerald Weapon as a RDM. It was a blind run for most of the players there but I was able to revive everybody that died throughout the fight and prevent a wipe. Even better, I walked away with six player commendations. I didn't need them, though it felt good since there's been other fights where I've prevented a wipe only to get zero acknowledgement.

The other story is stepping into a low level dungeon roulette and being recognised from this very forum. That was funny and it led to making a new friend!

    Here's a touching story.

I queue up for Puppet's Bunker in search of c o i n s to upgrade some gear on my alt. I leave after the first boss because for some godforsaken reason only one alliance killed their add in time and nearly all of the alliances got killed by a bunch of missiles.

Lots of people coming in now are not fully utilizing their skills. Tanks aren't using defensives and healers aren't using all their abilities. There's no telling a lot of them how to play.

I got into a conversation with one and they insist on not reading guides before atempting content. I think if that's your attitude, stay out of duty finder. Use party finder instead and advertise that it's a blind / learning party. Not everyone wants to stop and teach on every single duty and it's hard to do that when other people in the group are anxious to burn through everything without waiting on the tank.

We certainly don't want to hear about your ex (the MMO you just jumped from). We have our way of doing things here. Please respect it. Also, as a long time MMO player, I think it's good to take some time away from them all together, especially if you're fed up with one and just left.

What content in the duty finder even requires a guide?

Seriously! Unless you’re going into an Ex Trial there is no reason you should have to watch a guide. People in DF keep acting like their time is so precious when the reason you get rewarded for using it is to encourage you to group with players who have never done the content before. It’s not there to give you free XP and tell others to go watch a guide because you can be bothered to take 20 seconds to explain simple mechanics.
