I've had two undeniably legitimate uses of Rescue this week: once in Bismarck Normal and once in LotA, all.on apparent newbies.

In Bismarck, there were at least four newbies to the trial, and four of them were the DPS players. I had to rescue a stray BLM onto Bismarck's back due to the player not realizing you need the Whaleback status to deal damage to Bismarck. They were probably about to go off on me til I explained it. There was also a misfortune-laced healer LB3 during it before a wipe (Bismarck destroyed the island) but once everyone knew what to do we made it through just fine.

In LotA, things were a little wacky in the three corridor boss arena. My alliance, C, had only 5 members before someone from the other alliances started the fight. One of the DRG in the party (the other was with another group) strated off the pad, leaving us with three on the pad. As soon as I noticed, I Rescued them back to the pad where they belonged. We did wipe, but to Ancient Flare and not corridor boss. Fun times all around.

So, today I learned that when the iron giants come out in the Atomos room in LotA because some dipstick pulled early, their cleave attack can reach through the boss room barriers to kill you.

Learn from my mistake. Gloat from the top of the stairs instead.

Well looks like I have another tale to share already! And what a surprise it's on my alt again!

On my NIN just got to this point in the story, queued up for the dungeon and surprisingly it pops within 5 minutes. Upon getting in, we have a DRK, a AST, and a sprout BRD. BRD immediately starts with "yo, follow me, stay behind me." Odd, but whatever. We go through the first few packs with the DRK pulling single packs and me going through my AoEs and using my mudras. The BRD rushes ahead after every pack to pull the mobs first before the DRK and the DRK picks them up without a problem. Everything seems fine.

Then we reach the first boss, go through my opening with Trick Attack and proceed to keep using my mudras and combos as usual, we don't wipe but the BRD proceeds to say "use all your power ups, see if they work together, every 1 use 1". Well we were taking the boss down fine without the BRD's input, and I retain number 2 on the aggro list throughout the dungeon so it's whatever.

We reach the second boss, with the BRD dying to a pack pull beforehand and hoo boy, this irritated me. The BRD ignored mechanics the first two tries, and said after we wiped the second time, "u know u need to power up ur abilities, don't use cds without potency"... What? Do you even know why we wiped? It was because YOU can't bother with standing in front of the lines to the boss, and I need to use my mudras to be able to do some damage as NIN. I didn't respond though, but to say the least I was infuriated the whole time.

BRD also failed a few mechanics on the last boss as well despite the DRK saying what to do.. sigh, sometimes I don't like queuing for dungeons anymore.

Edit; Also the BRD proceeded to type "big dmg" during every boss fight, repeatedly and typed "no dmg, wow" whenever we wiped on the second boss because they couldn't be bothered to do mechanics... also was talking about a new mouse they got which no one else in the dungeon really cared.

I learned once that if you're outside of the boss room and on top of the stairs and they've been sealed off, you'll get yeeted into the A lane to get slapped by the iron giant. If there's anything to be gained from that, it's that people need to wait or SE needs to fix their Atomos lanes and put everyone into the correct lanes at the start.

I know the general rule of thumb is "be careful with what you say, people are overly-sensitive", but man, some players read malice into your words no matter how you phrase them. Even if I'm telling you not to face the boss towards the party. Because everyone is getting cleaved. If you could just ask me what I need you to do because you are unsure before snapping at me, that would be much obliged.

(I'm not worried about being reported or anything, no GM would look at what I said and go "oh, jail for you", and it's not like the tank said a slur or whatever. It was just a silly interaction.)

I really, really want them to finally do this. It's the very first alliance raid, and newbies are going to queue into it not knowing what to expect; I know I didn't. "If you walk onto the circular platform, you pull the boss and potentially lock people out of the correct lane" isn't something sprouts are going to assume, even the more observant ones. Heck, even non-sprouts forget or don't realize this. Most bosses don't aggro so far out of range.

Healer#2(CNJ): "Well apparently in my inventory. lol"

(SE can we please remove classes after lv30 please? Or make the job crystal a trait instead of an item?)

But the best moment was when the main tank cleaved the whole group multiple times when he ran from add to add...
Fun times.

Eden's Verse: Furor

I knew it would be painful the instant I saw every member of the group except for myself was viewing the cutscene, especially since I hadn't done the fight in a while and didn't remember the mechanics and therefore couldn't explain anything before the fight stated. There were many, many deaths. Luckily I was one of the two healers, so I was able to keep the fight going as long as I focused on keeping myself and the tanks alive and as long as I kept raising the other healer so he could raise the dps.

We were able to beat it without wiping, but I was constantly out of MP due to all the raising. The fight also took quite a while since every DPS constantly had the brink of death debuff from repeated deaths, halving their damage.

Despite all that, it was actually pretty fun.

Ah, the Day 1 patch blind run experience. The best kind of runs there is as a healer. Couldn't agree more.

I queued Trials Roulette as SCH in progress and got a 0 minute duration pop. I thought it was gonna be those usually hard or annoying duties. But I somehow got Shiva (Hard). Our team smoothly beat the boss in one attempt and I got 2 commendations in the end.

I am perplexed as to why the last healer left that duty as the instance is not too tough and it's usually cleared fast with the way players are geared. It is what it is and I guess I'll never know.

i was running susano, and got targeted by the knockback attack that turns into an aoe that covers everything but the knockback line and a stack on the person who gets knocked back. so, i'm running up the only clean part of the arena towards the rest of my party so i can stack with them... but suddenly i get rescued sideways into the aoe by one of the healers. and then i proceed to die because i both get hit by the aoe and the full force of the stack since i was so far away from everybody else. i genuinely don't know what they thought they were doing but it did not work.

EDIT: a couple other unfortunate duty finder occurrences i happened to remember:

-the time we wiped on the first boss of stone vigil like 5 or 6 times because the tank’s response to the boss’s cone aoe that inflicts burn was to just… stand in it. every time. (i felt so bad for our healer…)

-the time during final steps of faith where the same player got the stack marker twice in a row… and then died both times because their response to being marked was to run away from everybody else. (i tried my best to catch up to them, i swear!)
