I remember my first time running Doma Castle (as WHM). 2nd boss was going alright until about 50% when I under-estimated how close I was to the line AOE and got hit by them. On it's own this wouldn't have caused a problem but I got ping-ponged between multiple aoe lines (4 times) before coming to rest right in the Boss AoE and got obliterated. At that point the tank suddenly stopped doing anything and we wiped as a result. Upon resuming, the tank apologised but had laughed so hard at watching the lala healer getting punted all over the place that they sprayed a mouthful of drink all over their monitor and had to clean it to see what they were doing. We went on to beat the dungeon with no further issues and all had a good laugh about it with no hard feelings.

Long story short, "thank you" to the Crystal group running Praetorium in my MSQ roulette earlier today.
My mom stopped by unexpectedly so I had to afk with no notice because, honestly, life is too short and time with my mom means more to me at the end of the day.
I thought for sure I'd be kicked, and made my peace with it, but when I logged back in hours later, my Gunbreaker leveled up and I received my bonus for that roulette. I felt really bad for leaving without notice, so I am sorry. I know MSQ roulette isn't a big deal, but it's the principle of the thing.

Overall, I've really appreciated how kind and patient the players I've crossed paths with in duty finder have been in the past month.

Had an intriguing run last night as I was running on my alt.

The place was Dzemael Darkhold: the set-up being WHM, GNB, MNK, and SMN (me). The dungeon started out relatively peaceful; everybody said their hellos and the WHM asked if "we could explore." I didn't seem to mind as I honestly had nothing better to do.

I guess there was a communication error along the way however as no matter where the tank ran to, the healer ran the exact opposite. Cue the obliteration of everybody's HP with the occasion "Help" from the WHM followed by the inevitable wipe. Again. And again.

Every so often, the WHM would run off towards a destination completely distant to the party's destination. It was almost comical in a way: "OK. The party is going THAT way, but I see an empty cave over THERE. Oh look...mobs. O_______O...... HELP!"

Needless to say, the dungeon took way longer than it should have. I looked at my party and noticed the Tank and Healer are from the same server, so I assumed they were together. The MNK - bless his heart - was from a completely different server and most likely a random. Bless his little MNK patience. He got my comm.

Some months back I was tanking Amenesis Anyder with a friend. The dungeon was shaping up to be a milk run. Trash packs were dying quickly, and nobody messed up any mechanics on the first two bosses. When we got to the last area before the final boss our white mage says, "Pull everything, I can handle it." I had never gone ham and pulled everything in that room before, so... sure! We've got a good group. What's the worst that can happen?

I'm completely surrounded, rotating through my defensive cooldowns, and out of MP after spamming Holy Circle. I see my HP melting like a crayon in the back seat of a car, expecting to see our healer use one of her Oh Crap! skills. Nothing comes. I crumple to the ground like a sack of Lalafels and watch the entire pack turn its attention to her. "Hmm...." I said to my friend over Discord. The battle becomes a rout, and the rest of the party eats dirt.

As we release and are running back our healer says, "Oh no! I cast Bene on myself instead of you!" For some reason that instantly cracked me up. I assured our intrepid mage that it was all good, and that I make boneheaded mistakes like that all the time. I then had to sheepishly admit that I had accidentally burned Hallowed Ground with a fumbled button press on an earlier (much easier) pull. We cleaned up the rest of the trash with ease, and took down the final boss in good time. I told my buddy that I'd comm the healer if he got the other DPS, and both of us got a comm as well.

All-in-all, it was a good time. All it took was a little interaction to make a mundane chore into something memorable.

Not a horror story - a positive one. Some good vibes, since it sounds like people desperately need them.

Sub-15 minute Heroes Gauntlet run last night. Sadly no robe drop still. I'm at 30+ runs for that. I guess that's the horror story. Still, no robe drop does jack all to bring your spirit down when both your DPS (DNC and SAM) know their jobs well enough to finish up trash pulls in around 30-40 seconds. When the tank knows his job well enough that you rarely have to GCD heal and can Holy/Glare spam for days. When the second boss dies before the second set of walking zombies spawns. Holy cow. Everyone was going full blast that run and I'm L I V I N G for it. I wish I could have commed each and every one of them because all three of them deserved it. Had to settle for complimenting everyone in chat and tossing a comm to one lucky person.

I remember when Stormblood was still brand-spanking new and using DF to finish the last boss scenario was nightmarish. I think it took me close to 10 times to finally get in a group that was good enough to finish that sadistic dungeon lol. I even took a few days break because I was so frustrated.

I feel that in my SOUL, the moment of "Everything's under control, going for efficiency, tank's about to hit 20%, so we'll just Bene— OH NO."

It was, I think, about a week and a half ago that I had a run of the Gauntlet where we started off and the tank asked "How big do you want the pulls?" and I (as healer) went "Go big or go home," and one DPS went "YOLO!" and we were off. And we pulled everything and just blasted through; no one died, things just melted, we saw the special NPC cameo in the last stretch... and when we finished (at just over 12 minutes), we saw the Necromancer minion drop.

As the tank said, "This run was #blessed." As one DPS said, "I think I just used up all my duty finder luck for the next two weeks."

But it's always a joy when you get a run where everything just clicks and the party's like a perfectly-tuned machine.

i don't play much white mage, but if i had a dollar for every recitation excog i put on myself on accident, it'd cover my sub every month, at least.
