Hello *waves*lv 50 omnicrafter black mage using lvl 8 healer gear. lv 52 war not knowing how to spam lv 10 aoe and turns me as drg into tank during second boss. healer didn't rage quit like i almost did when the tank kept using tomahawk on olmec almost killing it off the plate twice. and of course this was on leveling and i waited twenty minutes because dps curse. shockingly they knew how to solve the puzzle at the end.
christ.
edit: forgot the next best ring isn't until 39.
Is this Qarn (hard) or Qarn (normal)? Because the 2nd boss in Qarn (normal) will ignore aggro and target random people after the soulstone's been destroyed once![]()
Queued for Trials Roulette last night with a friend, and we ended up getting a very smooth run of Shinryu. That is... until he's down to something like 5% of health and dropping fast, my friend pops the LB... aaaaand I disconnect.
Getting past a few seconds of disbelief at this happening right before the clear, I load back up and don't hit any log-in issues or world queue for once, so I'm only out for maybe 10 - 15 seconds max.
As this has been happening, my friend has been absolutely losing it over over voice call. Like, hysterical, going "oh my god", "WOW". My panicked little brain is just assuming he's referring to me getting dc'd. When I've finally loaded in, I see another party member going "WOW" in chat, and another say something about "having to upload a clip of this"? Shinryu is dead, everyone seems very amused and most of the party still seems to be present, but my friend still cracking up and going "just leave" over call and I (like a doofus) drop a "tyfp" and zip on out of there.
At this point, I comment to my friend that I can't believe I got dc'd. That's when he goes, "Wait, so you didn't see what happened?"
It turns out, in the span of seconds between my friend LBing, my dc and Shinryu's death, his death throes somehow resulted in a smash that took out the front two platforms of the arena and most of the DPS in the party with it.
I have no idea how it could've happened that fast besides some shenanigans, as I definitely didn't see the warning AOE before I dc'd, and he was dead by the time I got back in... but in retrospect, it would explain why half the party list looked dead. Because, uh, they were apparently....
TLDR; Thought I was the joke for DC'ing right as we cleared. Turned out the game selected me for a deus ex machina butShinryuthe joke went right over my head.
To the party member who might've gotten it on camera, if you ever see this, please send me the clip.
Maybe she is one of them?
I on the other hand told all the people who were watching netflix that they should play properly and not pile all the work on me (they are mostly DPS. Not always, of course). Usually didn't even get kicked even when they had friends with them, probably because they knew exactly what they were doing and not like i could kick any of them alone when they have 2 friends covering them. Trust me, i tried so many times. And that is why i don't do dungeons anymore.
I always get a chuckle when people get angry over things like uncontrollable aggro. There is something about someone complaining about people not knowing what they're doing when in reality they are the ones that clearly don't know what they're talking about triggers my schadenfreude brain enzymes.
A short but actual positive story for once.
Was doing Expert with an FC mate, she on AST and me on DNC (a change from me usually tanking Expert). We got a decent group with a good PLD tank who was full pulling and sprinting from place to place - refreshing! Usually if I don't go on GNB, I hardly ever see tanks who do either of these things, let alone both. We were making good progress through the first boss (outside of the MCH dying once, roulette wheel was unfavorable for them), and got through the two pulls after with no issues.
Then right as we head towards the second boss, the power cuts out in my house. Thanks thunderstorms. At least I wasn't tanking. Expecting it to be a while even with the power coming back on quickly, I let my FC mate know over discord what happened. I fully expected to be kicked from the duty by the time I managed to load back in, so imagine my surprise when everyone was waiting before the last full pull! We got through it with no issues, and I thanked the PLD and MCH for not kicking me, even though I would have understood if they did.
Overall a very decent run. Thankfully no more power outages the rest of the night, though - that would have been bad during Eden. x.x
Just finished daily alliance roulette as tank (newb). I'm trying my best to play as tank eventhough im newb and weak on mechanics, but Instead of telling me what to do, suddenly this player/mentor talk to a summoner in the party chat "we dont have a tank, that's why you become a tank". I was like wait what ? Im confused while the boss keep hitting me (nothing to tank besides the boss) but i just stay quiet. And then when the duty almost done, some other player in my party asking "why our summoner tanking ?" in alliance chat (more like intentionally). I was more confused, And then he said "the tank is noob". Well not complaining though, maybe i'm at wrong for not knowing the mechanics. Rude players will always be rude. Peace.

It’s way easier to whine about new players than give them tips or advice, that’s how they get better.Just finished daily alliance roulette as tank (newb). I might have missed the point of Quintessa's post. I thought she was saying that since "Nobody has to do anything they dont want to do", if people dont want to take advice she doesnt have to stay and help drag them across the finish line. Thats not advocating for people who refuse to try, its leaving them behind to fail or succeed without you. Did i have that whole thing wrong? Because i support leaving those people behind. If no one is carrying them, they are forced to either try or fail. Ive spent loads of time helping people who wanted to try, but im no stranger to eating a penalty to be done with a bad situation.

Seeing as they failed to help you maybe we can here.
I don't need to convince myself or others of anything, numbers do that.
A grammatical critique is literally the online equivalent to attempting to invalidate someone's point irl by calling their shirt dumb. Sorry you don't like the presentation, sadly that doesn't matter.
Good for you jumping up on that high horse, though! May all your roulettes be filled with the sort of players you so passionately defend, good luck clearing shinryu normal.
