So I got yelled at for doing the mech correctly? That... makes no sense to me. I was the healer in that one and I dunno. It feels wrong to just take vul stacks when you don't have too. I hope that's not what he was mad about. Even if it is he could've explained that instead of saying that and dipping out instantly. If you're going to comment on something have the balls to back it up please. I wasn't even mad more confused cause as far as I know - it was my first time in there too I'm new to endgame- Tethers like that you run from. I'm not yelling at you I'm flustered and if I am mad I'm mad cause he just bolted without explaining anything like I can read minds. No worries, you did it correctly and like I said not every party does it this way. They should have not gotten mad at you for doing the mechanic like the game teaches you and is intended to be done. I'm sorry your first time there had to be so confusing and people got mad at you. Just remember everyone has been new to end game at some point, you can take your time to learn and explore ^^ But if you feel like you're lost, there are amazing dungeon and raid guides to look at If you didn't wipe or people didn't die you did your job fine on healer so no reason to feel down <3

If you run too far away it is a pain for people to DPS, since it jumps around the room so much. You also don't need to be all the way across the room or as far away as possible to avoid the vuln stack. I just stand about 15y yalms away (roughly about 1/3 of the length of the room) and try to make it so there's no one between him and me for when he charges. The people who annoy me the most are those that run to the four corners of the room with their tethers. This disrupts healing and casting too, not just melee dps.

That's why I said even casters can benefit from the ''Eat the damage'' tactic :') Since I know the pain too well being BLM on my sweet Leylines and someone runs to other side of the room out of my reach... Only time I don't really mind is when I'm on ranged dps since I can just run around anyway and DPS from god knows what.

What I posted isn't eating the damage. You only need to stand a bit away from him to avoid the vuln stack and reduce the damage of the charge attack. When it's your turn to get hit just run out about 15y. He'll still jump out of other's melee range, but it will still be close enough that physically running over to him can still be done without dropping a GCD and gap closers are within range. Casters and healers obviously don't get inconvenienced this way either.

This could potentially turn into eating the damage somewhat if you misjudge the distance and end up standing a bit too close. But that doesn't really matter since the damage he does from the charge still gets reduced by whatever distance you did put between you and the single vuln stack is negligible.

this is not my first MMO, played ff11 for 8 years, started at age 19. Cursing is just words, if you do not like it use the censor. You cant pull thew <think of the children> card, as kids see and hear far worst things in life. What that person said was justified. Also place of birth largely effects your world view. Im 35 from around Boston MA, growing up i heard everything under the sun and back due to my irish heritage. If someone is being a <insert curse> i have no issues calling them out for it.

I try to be nice, and considerate, but im not a door mat. I also hate people who play the victim card, that is low and dirty. Also ive been running into the same people often. It happens if you follow a set playtime.

Lol! I had to adjust how I chat real fast when I got to this game. SE has like a no tolerance policy on swears. It's actually kind of hilarious, to be honest. You put one in a post, it could be 5 paragraphs long, deleted - if you are lucky it's only deleted. Pretty positive if you use it in-game and someone reports you, you can be banned for profanity. It's like baby's first MMO.

Look. I don't care where you're from, how old you are, or how long you've played MMO's; being an arsehole is still just being an arsehole.

And no, curse words are "not just words". I have seen people get fired over "just words", so it's not a valid excuse. Nobody is throwing around the "think of the children card, it is called just being a mature adult which based on your age, you should know something about.

I have gone back and read through that post and I'm not sure where they are playing the victim. If anything, they didn't escalate the issue, the other party members did; that seems to be their frustration. Sitting does not justify a response like that. And another thing; you seem to have entirely missed the point of this thread which is to vent; let off some steam.

Re; tethers.
The only bad thing that can happen depending on positioning imho is that you go to a spot with multiple forniture and get it burned, as his cone will burn whatever is in the way, and you could run out of forniture to use for the blue flames.
I always try to pick a spot with none of that, thoguh to be honest I haven't been in a party that ran out of forniture for months even when burning one or two by accident.

Seems I couldn't escape Orbonne today. I queued earlier got it, and promptly left because I didn't want to spend the time doing it. Got off the game all day, until tonight. Queued and got it again, stuck with it this time knowing I wasn't going to get free!

If I'm the healer, I always tell my group they can stay close to the boss.
The damage isn't huge and the vuln stack inconsequential but you never how far someone will run to play ir correctly and having the boss charge through the whole room is annoying for tanks and melees, sometimes even casters. So I'm fine with just healing through.
If I'm not the healer, I leave it up to them but play it correctly if they don't state a preference.
But most parties I had on Light just ate the stacks. Same with 2nd boss when they skip the 2nd seeds or last boss Anamnesis where the whole group just stacks on one side regardless of pattern. If someone has the timing down and can avoid the stack that's nice but if everyone eats one stack it's completely fine.
