When I'm heals, I don't have rescue on my bars, either. If you want to stand in stupid, die. IDGAF.

I have never once used Rescue, and the only times it's ever been used on me were trolls pulling me into AOEs and laughing as I get killed. I'm sure it has its legitimate uses, but I've never seen them
I've only ever used it once. Temple of Qarn (hard), I clutch rescued someone out of the sinky death sand on the... first boss I think it is? The statue. Because that isn't "stand in stupid and die". Sometimes that crap is just dropped on you in the worst position and you can't get out in time, or at least not easily.

Not succumbing to groupthink since 1991. | Lalafell aren't kids or child-like, and I do not care what your opinion is on that point.
I got rescued a couple of times today in Copied Factory. It was during Hobbes and I was not paying attention to the Flamethrowers. The healer pulled me out of harms way. I think it was the AST cause they were also giving me all the cards. But yea, that was like the first time I've seen it used correctly.
I think Rescue would benefit from being more responsive. It's the delay that gets people killed, imo.
Yeah, I did this in Eden's Gate: Inundation (E3N) a few days ago. During the phase where Leviathan is going to destroy the middle of the platform, I observed one player remaining in the middle . I think they were a RDM, so probably in the middle of a melee combo just then. I thought they were going to fall, so I targeted them and pressed rescue. But after my own reaction time plus rescue's activation delay they had already started moving out of the middle - but to the opposite side from where I was. So I ended up pulling them to their death. I was so embarrassed. I apologized in the chat but never got any response (not even a comment from other players), so I can only hope they didn't hate me too much for it.
I don't think there is much they can do about this. Unlike Between the Lines, and apoc, and other movement skills, Rescue I assume does five things:
gets your characters current position (x, y, z positions/coordinates)
gets the targets position (same)
calculates the distance
checks if the target has any debuffs that rescue is coded to not work on
then translate the target to the new position.
Rescue is a death sentence waiting to happen.
I think Between the Lines there is only care about knowing the position of the leylines, rather than both the leylines and the target. For the other teleport move, same deal.
tl;dr - too much calculating going on and it slows down the skills activation.
You were getting all cards because you were the only one that actually was worth having them. 6% dmg boost wont help a sorry as all hell DPS. Also you're an Elezen. Yall are rare. I get giddy when I see one. Would probably give you all cards and rescue you too.I got rescued a couple of times today in Copied Factory. Yup, the delay is a nightmare for actual rescueing purposes.
Pulling people out of animation lock is fantastic but I think I can count the number of times it worked with actually pulling someone to safety asap on one hand. It's just so fucking slow . :/
If I see someone in CP standing in the wrong spot for marx/ hobbel laser, it's easy enough to pull them to safety because you see that mechanic coming from a mile and I always spent lots of time looking around and checking where other players stand on healer.
But in dungeons or raids it was either agreed on beforehand (like pulling out of LB animation lock) or it kills people more than it saves them. I don't want a toggle for players to be immune against it though. It does have its uses.
The two BLM mechanic taxis are fantastic and super fast. You can zoom out of an aoe and back into your Leylines within one GCD if you time it right. But Rescue usually ends up as a "Damn, too slow. Well, at least I tried..." thing.
Dear Diary: Today in Sirensong sea i learned that the twins on the ship will heal you if you go below 50% health at any point fighting the squids. a 180 astroglobe sheilding astro is probably the second most annoying thing you will ever put up with.
and for the love of god some of the funniest shit goes unplanned, the first boss. right at the end my friend on DRG and the MNK co dps when we needed to stack on the healer for Hydroball at the last possible second for some conceivable reason ran a pixel out of the circle to attack the boss thinking the astro would stick with them. nope. I the PLD tank took 8.9k damage. i look next to me and there's a crater with the AST in it with a sign that said 16480 damage (i checked the log after). i fucking needed stitches after that shit. i couldn't stop giggling for the rest of the run...and thanks to needing to pull small i had plenty of time to laugh about it as me and said friend on discord kept making jokes about it.
Moral of the story: if they'd have had the right item level astro globe they'd have barely lived and it would have been fine. I'm not even sure if i coulda planned how perfect both dps going in the pixel to the boss, which took them outside the circle, looked. they even stepped out in unison and the healer didn't stay on them or maybe it just happened too fast maybe? point is that was hilarious. other than that muddle the rest of the run was the slow slog i expected shortly after the ship portion at the start.
Well... they may not be able to do anything about the delay at present, but they could give it an Invincibility frame. Though i'm unsure if that could lead to some gamebreaking abuse with progression content.I don't think there is much they can do about this.
