Now that sure was a Dun Scaith (roulette).
Started with this:
until I finally got in.
One party member left while we were still in the starting ring, and I hadn't even loaded in yet.
We then proceeded to do Deathgaze with 2/3 of the party alive. The MCH who filled in for the deserter also left after that boss.
At boss #3 one of our ASTs went AFK with no warning for a good chunk of the fight (just laying there on the ground dead, not accepting rez for a big part of it).
Finally at Diablos, that same AST went AFK again from the start until we had the boss' second form down to 60 or so %. Our tank, the MT, noticed pretty early, and asked one of the other tanks to take over (since you know, half healing) but you know how this goes. If there's no aggro war, gotta wait for the MT to die and the boss to slap a few DPS before the others actually pay attention.
Tank and other AST marked this guy with the "target to ignore" marker around the gate part. When he came back, he started spamming those two with the same markers.
I honestly wish we woulda wiped so we could kick this guy, but no such luck.
And at the end, the AFK AST left the instance commenting "thanks for the commendations".

I've been leveling WHM the last 2 days so have just been spamming Holminster and Don Mehg. Most tanks have been at least decent (and one tank that barely needed healing at all even on full packs, I love you rabbit-tank!) but yesterday I had one in Don Mheg that clearly thought they were the bees knees but wasn't. They were really easy to heal at first then would suddenly become butter and melt before I could even get a single heal off. At first I thought maybe they were standing in AoEs or something at the time, so just resolved to babysit their HP. After the second wipe that happened even faster with multiple WHM oGCD thrown at them in quick succesion, the tank decided that I was the problem and said he saw the problem now which was that he wasn't getting any heals. I naturally said, "huh?" in chat to which he responded I only cast a cure spell once. While technically true since I had enough time to get off a single Cure II when he started to melt... on top of the Afflatus Solace, Divine Benison, Tetragammon, opening Regen, Assylum, and almost Benediction that didn't get off fast enough and did nothing. I replied I wasn't going to argue so I was happy to cure spam. And so I did. Cure I every GCD even if he was at 100% and only using Cure II/oGCD if needed to get back up to 100%. There continued to be almost no incoming damage for the first half of every fight and then he'd start to melt but the overkill cure worked.

Since I stopped doing any sort of damage at all, I noticed at this point that DPS was suddenly horrible. Like REALLY bad. Even worse than Trust level bad. And saw that the Dancer was only using single target skills and standing at extreme range. Like BLM stay away from my leylines so you don't bait aoe into it range. I didn't have the courage to see if they were using any of their pbAoE abilities at that range. My soul doesn't need that sort of killing. The other DPS was doing average damage and I was grateful for them, since they were actually doing mechanics and their job correctly although nothing so spectacular as to make up for the dancer. After some very long single pulls we managed to get to the second boss that's the tree dragon. The dancer continued to stand at extreme range and not do mechanics including the growth line blocking, and since dps was so slow that we saw it enough times for the instant wipe when the boss absorbed too many lines. Since I was not there through roulette for the bonus and I'd already had more than half the dungeon's worth of mob xp, I just decided to cut my losses and eat the penalty and leave.


After leaving I decided to go over the log to see why the tank was so melt-tastic and discovered that although the tank was using cooldowns, he was stacking them all at the same time. I.e Rampart+Sentinel double-weaved every single time. Often with Shelltron. No wonder he took no damage for 30s on a full pull and then suddenly melted. Note to tanks: spread your cooldowns out. Being an amazing damage soaking sponge for 30s does nothing for you once you become a wet noodle for the following 30s after that. You need that full minute of damage mitigation for the DPS to kill off some of the enemies before being stuck without any additional mitigation.

Mentor rou is always a treat since you never know what you're gonna get, but more recently past the normal ARR EX hellhole the next biggest pain in my rear is Urth's Fount.

I'm not sure if this is a thing in other mmo's or people just don't understand cd management. But i've def been having cases of tanks blowing all their cd's prior to pull.

Many tanks I'm with I know are fresh into tanking since they got the ironworks gear, sprout near their name, and then blow rampart,sentinel at the same time before pull and I'm shook.

Usually it's only 20 seconds in when the next buster happens and they die to autos after the first one. Then I gotta handle aggro and the healers are trying to rez the tank only for me to take a crapton of damage, then it's aoe circle dodging fest where the tank usually dies since they spawned in the middle of one and don't understand rez immunity.

I probably want to say out of every 5 Urth's Fount runs I get matched into only 1 after about 4 wipes ends up clearing before people start leaving. That's including multiple pulls per run. Part of it is due to my my usual new co-tank not understanding management and running in head first with tank stance on, others are due to fresh healers still believing Cure III is a better single target heal then Cure II. So every time I get in now I have to verify and make sure everyone knows what to do.

It's a trip.

It's so important for a tank to rotate their CDs just like how healers have to rotate their CDs in mass pulls as well, tanks also need to remember that Arms Length is a great CD as well as it adds 15 sec slow to everything! Tanks use it!

My story regrettably was Mt. Gulg I was 79 on my DNC I was like I need 1 more run and i'm 80 so why not, we get in it's me, a RDM, SCH, GNB, we all say hi and tank sprints off and right off the bat hits Superbolide before the 2nd mob pack even reaches him I was stunned. The poor healer used Dissapation right away without Aetherflow stacks and the RDM and I were trying to DPS as fast as we could but during Superbolide the tank popped Rampart + Nebula + Camouflage + Heart of Stone and Aurora everything and the kitchen sink while standing in stupid.

Tank took 0 dmg and lost threat on a few mobs, we're dying, he's dying, we wipe the tank complains that he needs to be healed more the healer says don't pop every CD in 5 seconds, tank laughs and sprints off again round #2 he does the same thing again but Superbolide last it was bad since he was at 90-95% HP popped Superbolide so it wasted all the shields and healing the SCH did. SCH starts getting mad and goes dude if you don't rotate your CDs this is gonna be a nightmare, tank responds with I've been doing this since 60+ I've had 0 issues, I chime in and tell him he should rotate his CDs to spread out the dmg you won't take as much, he just says no I'd rather stack all my CDs and take no dmg I know what I'm doing.

This goes on till the big wall pull where the tank did the same as the first pull: Superbolide + all tank CDs at once, the healer just says no I'm just done and leaves, we wipe and the tank starts trash talking him, I said you should really listen to what we're saying rotating CDs is how you become a better tank, we get a new healer he does the same thing this time it's a WHM and the healer goes wtf?? Again the tank is complaining the RDM and I have been saying he's doing this all run so then someone imitates the vote kick as the tank dies again and standing in stupid and we kick him.

After that was a smooth run I do feel bad for that SCH you were doing work man if you read this don't let one tank get you down you did everything in your power but you can't heal stupid.

I really wish people would utilize the vote kick a lot more, especially if the other members have the same thought on one person being bad. It is very likely to go through and I am sure tanks/healers have no trouble getting an in progress and being the hero. By not vote kicking we are kinda just enabling them to keep doing it, more so if they actually get the clear and it validates that their strategy "works".

Just to clarify, I do realize he was kicked but speaking in general.

Happened to me with random tanks a couple of times aswell.
But I don't hold it against them. If they drop and drop it's either because the healer can't keep up or because Bene is up. Better safe than sorry though it always gives me a heart attack when on WHM ... and a good chuckle as soon as my heart starts working again.

Leveling my AST and had a couple of really sloggy Qitana runs.
First was a whooping 35min run because dps was really low. Gear was fine so I have no idea how I managed to out-dps the tank as an AST, both in mob groups and boss fights. Didn't even give myself any cards or something. I was throwing cards at everyone else, healing and dpsing whenever possible. Bard got out-dpsed by our dancer (even single target) with dance partner and full card support.

Next run mobs died painfully slow again and one look at the monk revealed a nice set of 340 gear. In a 75 dungeon.
I give everyone the chance to check their gear and adjust. Mistakes happen, maybe they switched jobs and forget to update their gear set before or whatever. But when he didn't react to the party chat, we kicked him.

Next run we had a ranged who liked to pick a single mob while still pulling, dps it like mad and then stood at the end of another star and proceeded to dps that single mob down instead of bodyslamming the tank so he can pick it up and aoe it down with the other 9 mobs currently busy rearranging the tank's teeth.

Oh hey, here's another one: zero def cd tank. During the whole Malikah run he didn't use a single def cd. Not one. Neither in large pulls nor boss fights. Not. A. Single. One.
I politely asked for them with "<name>? could you please use your def cds in large pulls? ".
Nope, still no def cd in sight.
After another group I tried again and used the auto translate for the Sentinel, Rampart, Sheltron and Arm's Length, but still no def cd in sight. No reaction whatsoever.
Well...maximum babysitting it is, I guess.

I really have the worst luck on my AST lately .. doubly frustrating if you're trying your best to use your cards like a clockwork, weave something between every heal/ malefic/ gravity for better dps uptime or more support, use sleevedraw card spam madness while trying to keep the tank alive in big pulls and squeeze in some aoes whenever possible and then you get these gems.

So, recently I used Fantasia to change my dude from Male Hyur Midlander to Male Highlander. Last night it was the first time I got some weird comment. So my DNC class was already 76 so I wanted to push to 80 asap. I queued as DNC for 50/60/70 and got Snowcloak. I was too tired cause of I just got home from work so I didn't feel in the mood to greet them with usual ((Good Evening)) and then the group was just being silent for the first few minutes when the AST spouted something out of nowhere.

"You gey"

I was like "who?" so it dawned on me that she meant it's me cause there my character was, a manly highlander male who uses Moonfire Trunks and Striped Summer Top glamour while being a Dancer.

I was planning to respond "HOW DID YOU KNOW I AM!? " but like I said I was not in the mood and I don't have keyboard anyway and it's such a bother typing on virtual keyboard so I just let it go and we continued doing the dungeon with no wipe.

Next I got Sastasha normal (lv 15?) on Leveling Roulette. There were 2 people who kept chatting, so it's obvious they're a premade. One of em made a comment "It's not often I encountered a Dancer Boy"

I was like "WHY DIDN'T I GET THESE COMMENTS WHILE I WAS A MIDLANDER? COME ON! CAN'T A MACHO GUY BE A BEAUTIFUL DANCER FOR ONCE?" XD

"It's kinda hot though" the other replied, and I calmed down a bit. lol

Anyway, this will not discourage me from being a male hyur highlander DNC at all. In fact It motivates me even more.

In regards to Odin.I did this recently synced in df for friend and i was warrior synced down at max gear lvl,Odin still hits like a truck.We had to tank swap during the fight because regardless of cd rotation on warrior you still cant migitate every tankbuster and a lot of healers struggle with everything else thats going on that holmgang use is very high risk.
