I haven't actually used it (yet), but one of these days a friend of mine is going to rage at me over it. :P
You'll want to edit out the names - there's no naming and shaming in the thread. It can get you banned, I think.
I don't think a lot of people realized how much learning had to be done - and is still being done - when all the changes happened. There's -still- changes happening. Please be kind to one another. We might not all be new to the game, we might not all be new because we leveled 1-70, but we're all new to Shadowbringers, still. (I know this was an older dungeon, but I don't care what anyone else says. Until you've done the dungeon more than once, you're new to it, and things can still surprise you. I don't fault anyone for that and I detest the thought that just because "you've seen these mechanics all before" (which is untrue) people can't mess up or be nervous.)

Not succumbing to groupthink since 1991. | Lalafell aren't kids or child-like, and I do not care what your opinion is on that point.
Yes not blotting out names qualifies as name and shame which is against forum rules. might want to edit that at your earliest convenience to the quoted post on yours..You'll want to edit out the names - there's no naming and shaming in the thread. It can get you banned, I think.

to the person I'm quoting directly: I've been to pre SB and SB content dozens of times and occassionally i mistime something. not wipe worthy so much as give the healer a heartattack. sometimes I'll admit I do it on purpose every now and then to check if the healer stays on top of things but that's also me seeing what i can get away with.
Doesn't mean I don't legitimately screw up from time to time. everyone's got a bad day.

While the big pulling without asking annoys me, its usually a test to see what the group can handle. The snark was uncalled for but the mechs they called out for the second boss were correct. You stack for the red marker and you get away from the group if you have a blue. Also the adds will auto target Estinien regardless of what the tank does. They can be pulled off but they almost always get off their first attack. Your tank was a bit of a jerk and could have handled all of that better but not everything they did was wrong or petty, mechanics wise anyway. Sorry you and your healer had to deal with that. I feel like they were overwhelmed and the Tank!snark just made it worse. :\I didn't think I'd ever post here but I got really irked today by this persons behavior towards a semi new healer.
Especially with all the changes that's been done to mana.
so without any heads up, the tank runs into The Aery an pulls all the mobs, then proceeds to die because the
healer isn't used to harder level dungeons plus large pulls. Without even a second of self thought the Tank immediately begins insults.
Then instead of pulling smaller groups, they continue to pull large groups. luckily we do okay but it irritates me more
that this person is a MENTOR, that instantly insults rather than try to give any form of assistance or guidance,
and even proceeds to give WRONG instructions on the second boss.
Then, to top it off, at the final boss the healer has to get us as well as Estinien. Which was going fine until the adds came in.
The tank barely got any of the adds to face away from Estinien, but continued to berate the healer. Spamming for them to
heal him over an over. We made it pass the adds but with Estinien so low, an having to heal everyone else, they had no mana left.
So Estinien died causing us to wipe. Which just caused further insults from the tank.
The healer left before trying Nidhogg again because of this MENTOR.
I just can't believe the behavior of some people.
MID fight. But not right at the beginning of the pull? Which is where the issue happens? Where they also use their throwing skills in the beginning (more than once might I add) too? Or just voking it off you like there is a tank swap mechanic, and at that point, you just give it to them cause you don't need to play e-peen fights with another tank over who wants to be MT but doesn't bother to say anything about it when you ask "mt or ot?". These are normal things that happen with pug people. So *shrugs*There is merit to turning on your tank stance mid fight as the OT so you may just be being a jerk for no reason.
If you've had your stance on since pull, and I wait til after my first No Mercy phase to turn on my tank stance I'll have second hate for the rest of the fight and should never actually threaten to rip off of you unless you're doing something wrong (like not taking adventage of your burst phases or straight up not hitting the boss). Then, if you die, I have hate immediately and not the poor black mage or whoever. Its safer for everyone that way.
I personally also periodically shirk the MT to keep them WELL ahead of me, but its not necessary.
Most times when it happens, as I do have a second text box on my screen with listed attacks from other users, they don't shirk or voke + shirk. They're just pushing their combo in and trying to take hate off. Your example is what a normal raiding endgame scene would look like (which would be correct). Most tanks in pug don't know jack about their own skills and how it works. Since the GCD doesn't affect the skill rotation anymore either, I'll voke > shirk and stay in second on the list without needing to turn on tank stance.

But there's barely any adds to tank for on that fight, the 1st wave which can be tanked usually die super fast, the one on the west may spew breath aoe before the tank could grab aggro, the 2nd wave of adds which consists of 3 drakes completely ignore aggro these 3 are what mostly draining estinien's HP, while the 2 last dragons can die super fast as well so estinien would only get minimal damage.. there's barely any damage hitting the tank during this phase..
/justsaying
The tank mistook the mechanic of the peiste boss, the one with the poison gas and bomb with the Sohm Al (lv54) 2nd boss, the trex and slimes.

Going through Vincenti's post about the crappy mentor tank, and I feel stupid for asking this, but what exactly is 'Heal nR1' supposed to mean?
Also the second mechanic is referring to the Sohm Al second boss which has the blue/red marker mechanic, to which the Aery second boss does not have. You need to kill the bombs before they explode, but let them consume poison clouds before the damage up stacks the boss gets become too unbearable. If they consume 2-3 stacks, usually that's the best time to kill them. 4 stacks and they get ready to explode with partywide poison damage that can't be esuna'ed.
Normally a 'kill bombs when they get 3 stacks' is enough instructions for people to be aware of it, then again I've had parties that kill the stupid thing too early and the boss gets 6+ stacks on him.
Edit: forums please. I post at 4 pm flat, forums load up same timing posts, goes to edit post for a bit of clarity, then puts my post time at 4:04. wat

Uh I would quickly cover this mentors name. its against SE policy to give out names. that said I would... also report said mentor because they are reportable for misbehavior.
"Sometimes I wonder I heal for fun. or if I heal because I'm a glutton for punishment."
I did something similar to this before but as a tank. I got it in my head that it would be fun to just pull the whole group to see how it goes, so I did. It didn't go nearly as well as I had hoped. You know when you think up an idea that sounds good in your head but in reality, it's terrible. Yours truly did this in msq castrum yesterday as a blm.
So three years into this game, I'm doing the duty for the umpteenth time when we get to the last area with the giant mechs and foot soldiers, right before that yandere chick in the white ranger suit. I noticed we had a full lb2 bar and a deceptive bright light clicks in my head: "wait a minute..." I think, "I could one shot those guys". Great idea, right?
Wrong.
The foot soldiers got one shotted alright. The giant mechs? Brushed off my lb2 and proceeded to (collectively) one shot me...and someone else...and another.
Most of the group survives. Probably because everyone else was busy trying to do things in an orderly fashion as to not lengthen the run anymore than they should, unlike a CERTAIN SOMEONE. I reveal myself as the mastermind behind the boneheaded move, letting them also know that I wanted to see if I could one shot the mobs.
"If you had asked us before you tried, we would've told you that obviously, the answer is no." one of them responds.
I sort of shrink in my seat and utter a nervous "sorry..." to no one in particular.
