As far as I remember (haven't gotten Byakko in a while myself), it's always been random on normal.Am I missing something? I thought NM worked just as EX did in that the MT is chosen (and the second one is done with a Voke+Shirk so the other tank is chosen, but NM only has the one State of Shock). Did they...change it to be random? Because I’ve never not seen a tank be chosen except, as I said before, when there are like a bazillion deaths (and the tanks are usually dead).
The Sunken Temple of Qarn - I'm going to say that I'm used to dying with new people on the first named due to the mechanics, but I've never had another experience like this. After Zoning in I should have known something was wrong. Said hi to everybody and the Tank replied first time for this dungeon. Sooo no problem just explain things as we go and inspected the tank who was in lvl 60 gear. I inspected so i would have some idea of how much healing i was going to have to do. So we proceeded to run in with the tank pulling and then running to the back of the group. Then he started jumping and running around in a circle while attacking, I thought he was trying to do some weird kiting or he was lagging really bad. Asked him what he was doing and he said dodging this should have sent up red flags but I was still on my first cup of coffee and it didnt register. Got to the first name and he ran in grabbing the named and then ran right past me. The dps and myself ate the frontal and were like WTF. Asked him again what he was doing and he said dodging again. He then again started jumping in a circle around the named and running around the room with a few attacks going off and no CD's. This didn't last long as we kept eating the frontal and he didn't do the mechanics that we painfully explained before going in. After respawn I asked "How are you dodging exactly?" He replied its just like Fabled if you move fast enough you don't get hit. Here was the Major WTF moment. So I kept asking questions and found out that hes been playing for about 3 days and he level skipped. It was also his first MMO ever. So i tried and i tried really hard to explain the differences between Fabled and FFXIV, but he knew better and had didn't want to listen to anything I had to say. So we eventually kicked him from the group. New tank, "HI first time here", huge sigh from the group. Inspected again hes in gear for that level. Explained the first fight and we just flew through the rest of the dungeon. I don't remember the 2nd tanks name but I could have kissed him. I'm sure he got 3 comms and a huge ego after all the compliments we heaped on him.
thats the point you say well maybe if you did your job and keep enemies away while styaing in range of my healing I'd be able to do mineI tried pvp for the first time and already regret it.
Some asshole was scolding the two healers the entire game, but mainly me.
I had a brain fart basically at the very start of the game because I was reading the abilities since I noticed that some of them have completely different effects in PvP and ran into the enemy group ( I was with our group btw, our group just stopped running I guess ).
ONCE.
And after that some douche Machinist was scolding me the entire game making snarky comments like '' wtf these healers '' etc ( but mainly targeted at me ) even tho I did nothing wrong the rest of the game and was staying with our group and keeping people alive as best I could and dps:ing people.
And ofc when we lost it was apparently my fault because I was supposed to carry the entire team?
He gave me shit for dying in the last battle too when I had to get in close because everyone else was in the thick of it ( I need to be in range to heal, duh? ) and I was pulled in by the enemy and focused down hard ( I still stayed alive for a while, but I can't heal through an entire team forever... ).
And he started accusing me of just running into the enemy the whole game because I did it once at the very beginning of the game.
Once = '' the whole game ''???
It's not as if our team was organized to begin with, everyone was just running around in circles basically and I was just following because I assumed that they'd know better ( including the guy scolding me who was just farting around himself... ).
Someone did whisper me afterwards tho and said nice things which kinda evens it out but holy crap.
The whole thing just reminded me why I tend to stay away from team PvP games and why I love fighting games ( because in fighting games you can't blame other people when you lose ).
There's always these toxic try-hards who think that they're these amazing players and that it's always other peoples fault when they lose...
"Sometimes I wonder I heal for fun. or if I heal because I'm a glutton for punishment."
Seems it was my turn to be one of the bad players, did a few big pulls ok then promptly died on the first boss in Malikah's as WhM. I did the fair thing and kicked myself so they could get a better healer.
I notice on threads here that the general opinion is that if someone is unsure if they can heal or tank a dungeon they have no business queuing for one and that new players mistakes like getting hit by obvious mechanics isn't acceptable at max level. I'm unsure where to go from here, I'm not a healer main and I don't want to hold groups back. Is there something suitable to practice on or if I feel uncertainty should I just stick to dps and grouping with friends? :/
Trust or Youtube vids (MTQ has great vids).Seems it was my turn to be one of the bad players, did a few big pulls ok then promptly died on the first boss in Malikah's as WhM. I did the fair thing and kicked myself so they could get a better healer.

I think I am currently just getting unlucky. Had some decent runs, but now I had the almost same undergeared thing and passing on better loot happen again.
Queue with my friend, a healer, for the quick queues. Leveling drops us into Castrum Abania (69 dungeon), which is pretty nice exp as Level 71. Notice after a while that mobs should be burning down quicker than they are and start checking gear. And of course I spot something and immidiately tell my friend.
They also pass on a Ring that drops and I start foaming at the mouth basically, having flashbacks to the recent run with the SCH passing on a book thats 82 ilvls better.
My friend points it out at the second boss and they excuse themselves with having not enough Gil but they'd be leveling after this run. I mainly ranted in private, however i needed to point out them passing on the ring.
Sometimes even ranting to my friend isn't enough. Main reason I made this forum account, to simply post here and get ranting in this thread.
I just wish that people that are visibly undergeared would stick to HoH or runs with friends but I assume that is a somewhat controversial opinion.

Level your trusts so you can practice with the jobs you're not comfortable with while learning the dungeoun.I find actually doing the content helps a hell of alot more with learning than watching a video.Seems it was my turn to be one of the bad players, did a few big pulls ok then promptly died on the first boss in Malikah's as WhM. You might as well try to kick most people on every single alliance in frontline then. Even that's too much for me.
No, I am actually pretty sure someone saying "first time" or something, and is having trouble with mechanics, people are actually pretty supportive.Seems it was my turn to be one of the bad players, did a few big pulls ok then promptly died on the first boss in Malikah's as WhM.
