I’d prefer someone who doesn’t stand around idle for 80% of the content, if I’m being honest. I prefer equal contribution from all party members. I’m expected to be 100% active, so I expect that of the people I party with in return.



I’ve been running with a friend on GNB, and the only healing issues we’ve had through the ShB leveling is with healers that insist on spamming Cure I/Benefic I/Physick without using anything else—they’ve all been healers with decent at-level or higher gear on top of that as well. I don’t think he’s particularly squishy, and he actively rotates both his CDs and GNB’s regen as often as possible.

I've actually been using Lustrate as my main heal and Excog as it's available with fairy assistance. But these Gunnies are ping-ponging all over the place on their lifebars to the point I run dry on Aetherflow and have to stop my DPS to cast heals >< I suspect a lot of them are just newbies. I didn't have nearly the same issues with the super DRK I play with semi-regularly and a couple of Rando warriors I've been with since the changes.

Hope you don't get me for your healer then. I do not DPS in dungeons/raids. I am there to keep the party alive and that is it, I am a healer not a DPS. I have my dancer for then I want to DPS.

If you are like this AST and just spam physick on the tank when he's at 90 percent health, then ya I really hope we don't cross paths. There is a difference between keeping us alive and just being a lazy and that line isn't a fine one. There is a difference if the tank needs to be healed bc his health is yoyo'ing. There is a difference if the dps is standing in everything. There is a difference if mechanics calls for you to heal. But if you are just spamming a low potency healing spell when its not needed you aren't 'keeping us alive' you're being a nuisance. That being said, that isn't half of what this AST was doing. He wasn't dps'ing bc he was salty over healer changes. After seeing the tank pull more it was obvious the player was an experienced healer, so there was legit no reason he couldn't drop gravity and help the dps. Not to mention, unlike previous expansions mobs have more health and die slower so no healer help just makes things longer and more tedious. So stop wasting players time and put a little effort into helping instead of topping off a tank that isn't even below 80% health.

So twice now I've been in a party where the healer refuses to do anything but heal when they've been called out. And they use the homogenizeation of healers as an excuse. Tonight on the first pull of one of the lvl 80 dungeons I had a blm melt down on an ast that was just spamming benefit on the tank. Basically said ya sorry a tank that does single target pulls is not as bad as a healer who won't dps and left. I wish I did too, bc it was excruciating slow run. But the healers repsonse was 'looks like someone isn't aware of the new healer update'. I really wanted to say, 'oh pls youre an ast, you never had a dps kit to begin with' but suffered silently. No cards were played either, might i add. Tank, insulted by the comment, began pulling more. Ast could heal it fine, but still had ample time to help dps during pulls and would just spam benefict when mobs were mostly mowed down oncemore. Felt real bitter by their attitude.

I'm more pissed off about them not using cards honesty....

Even with squishy tanks who insist on pulling wall to the wall and not using CDs I still find time to DPS. Like Hyo said, use your toolkit. Recitation+Adlo and Excog buy you enough time to DoT. It's taking some getting used to. I fill like I'm healing with Cleric Stance on. My Critlos are weaker than normal Adlo used to be. My normal Adlo was 14k and I could crit for 26k, now my Critlos are around 12k. When they said they wanted healers to heal, they meant it. But I've only had a two wipes in dungeons.

Anyway, I've been playing pretty consistently since Heavensward. And I still don't understand people who leave after one wipe. Especially on new content. So I queue Trial roulette. 9 min in progress. It's the NEW 73 Trial. And the other healer was gone too. So wait on another one. One joins pretty quickly after I did. We wipe at the add phase. A couple DPS leave and are quickly replaced and we beat the adds and everything is going smoothly. Then the tank points the Tankbuster cleave at the party. Me and the other healer and DPS are dead. Luckily there was RDM out of it. Raised us and LB3 raised the party and we cleared. Even we wiped there, I would have stayed. It's a NEW trial and for a lot of people it's Day 1. Just have some patience.

There is a distinct misunderstanding here. This happened last time we talked, too. You're a little presumptuous.

I'm not saying to stack all your cooldowns. But there absolutely is more a tank can do than pop Rampart.

I'm saying that these pulls are lasting long enough that Aetherflow is coming off CD, and Raw Intuition has half of Aetherflow's cooldown. That's at least one Raw Intuition that just wasn't used.

I'd like to point out that using your CDs randomly is also not always helpful.

I can speak as a tank too. In fact, I told you I tanked last time we spoke. And I can tell you a huge part of tanking is managing the recast timers of your cooldowns by anticipating the next pull and trying to get the maximum uses out of them over the course of a dungeon.

But after watching Momo's video, I realize that the problem is that the pulls are taking too long, and I'm spamming Art of War more to make up the DPS deficit. I'll have to switch to Broil in those instances.

Ah, I'll admit to my faults here. Though I dont really track too many names and faces here, so I didnt realize who I was responding to. I know I can come off that way, but i try to be more informative than aggressive... it's not always something I'm good at. I don't really intend to speak down. Somethin' I struggle with. I'm sorry to you about that. Should pay more attention to who I'm talking to so I can tailor my response accordingly. My bad. You dont have to like me or agree with me for it, but I can promise there isnt animosity on my end.


But yeah, my failings aside, I agree to these points. you dont really wanna do another mass pull when your next cooldown is another 50s off. And for bosses, too. I've found myself using/holding onto aurora to generate aggro on adds about to spawn. Or having something like heart of stone or rampart coming off cooldown for that tank buster coming 5s into the pull.
That and healer mp. I've had to stop for a haler buddy of mine not having lucid up yet.

And if a pull is lasting long enough that you've used up your cooldowns, it's going to start showing on the healer side real quick. I dont really wanna put that particular fault on the tank, though.

Just was in a party with an AST who got all the way to 80 without realizing their shields overwrite a SCH's shields when in the same party... SE this is getting stupid at this point, please actually spell this out for AST players the SECOND they pick up the job.

I just wanted to shout out to the three wonderful players I had in Tam-Tara this evening.

Grabbing dancer, I decided to do what I always do when I grab any class that starts higher than level 1 - start at Sastasha and work my way down. It's the best way for me to learn rotations and shut.

I pop in and immediately the tank and the healer have words of advice and encouragement for me. "Can you wait after the dungeon is over so we can give you more tips?" Absolutely I can, and I did, and it was lovely. I hope I do a good job with the advice you give me and continue on to become, at the very least, a passable dancer!

Also props to the lancer, who was genuinely new. Didn't stand in anything, I think he was doing his positionals correctly (if they even get them at that level, not sure) and at the final boss, it only took him observing me going ham on one of the tethered imps to get the idea that they need to die before more can be done on the boss. Adaptable, quick thinker - you'll go far. Also very sweet - he got the grimoire from one of the chests and wanted to trade it to one of us that could use it. We told him to keep it, so he could either level up arcanist if he ever wanted, or turn it in for company seals at a later date. I sent him a friend request and offered to help him any time he needed.

On the question of tank changes, I've only leveled GNB to 61 so far, then went to DNC, and I've also only done a couple of dungeons with players since, but the only thing I've noticed was tanks not wanting to wall pull in the early ShB dungeons. We'll see what happens when I get around to leveling a tank myself.

So, Dancing Plague...

Please glance at your chat occaisionally. Please observe the numbers occaisionally placed above the 3 adds heads so we are are all attacking the same guy. Please spend as much time in the water as possible and don't move out even when you are marked with a stack....seriously.

I don't know how many times I DFed this morning before I got a group that actually followed these directions. Must have been 4 or 5. The third to the last one actually was pretty good, we got her down to 1% before we ran too close to time to do it again. That run was actually learning mechanics. The second to the last one just kept getting worse so I bailed after the first person was willing to eat the 30 minutes. But that last run was smooth as silk. No wipes, not even many casualties that I saw.
