Just got out of this one.

It's The Vault, which I don't personally consider a difficult dungeon. The cast is me, a nin, and three sprouts from <redacted> (which I consider to be the worst server on Primal) who didn't seem to be a pre-made. The tank was 62, in shire gear, and I think it was a booster that got them there. The healer had 4 i90 left side pieces and a 50 115 vendor book. The bard stated they were new and they did ok so they get a pass.

First pull, the tank is in tank stance. I start doing my AOE and I suddenly have all the aggro. The bard is single targeting and gets aggro, the healer eventually gets aggro and lucids. I kill everything, we move on. Second pull, I shadewalker the tank. Third pull, he seems to have gotten the message that he's the one that should have aggro, and he actually uses flash and circle of scorn. Now that he's learned how to deal with adds, let's move on to the first boss.

The tank can't hold aggro on the initial trash before the dude transforms, whatever. Throughout the fight he's constantly turning it, and the healer gets one-shot by the cleave. We clear it the second time, accidents happen.

We slowly get through more trash and reach the second boss. Tank waits for Fight or Flight to come off cooldown and pops it pre-pull while I'm waiting there doing huton every 20 seconds. Whatever. The fight starts, the dude transforms, then I see it. The tank had just turned the boss once more. Standing behind him is the poor i90~ healer. The cleave goes off, and the scholar metaphorically flies across the arena, landing in a bloody puddle, their mortarboard cracked in two. We eventually die, the DPS is kind of low, but I don't want to blame the bard at all.

Second run, purple death orbs circle the arena. I am the only one in a safe spot. Everybody dies.

Third run. I play very conservatively and do my best not to get cleaved to take stress off the i90~ healer. At times the boss is positioned so poorly I have no choice but to stand at range and throw daggers and shurikens. Then the tank turns the boss again, running into a purple circle to do so, and dies. I get aggro, the healer resses the tank, I eventually die despite second wind and Shade Shift due to no other healing. Scholar heals up the newly alive tank.

The boss then kills the healer and the bard while the tank is doing Rage of Halone, because how does provoke work? Well, I don't think they actually knew, because I had seen them use it several times when they already had aggro. At least they didn't pull with it.

Eventually the tank dies, I vote abandon, it goes through. I feel bad for the bard not getting their clear, but not enough to sit through another 30 minutes of smashing my head against that boss.

Nobody said anything the entire time, but I doubt either the tank or healer considered the possibility that they were both the problem. Heck, in their heads they were probably blaming me and the bard. Who knows.

I've always considered Vault the 'scrub bait' dungeon because the second boss is the wall and if the party is just not learning basic mechanics its just not happening. I leveled dps through it and its infuriating watching a downward spiral from a spin tank or a bad dps heavy healer. or both. I've had both.

The problem is that it has: Overpower cleave, persistant aoes that need to be managed and healed for and you to not spin the boss so much so you have a safe zone during his room knockback...its rediculous how much they piled into one tiny arse boss room. its like: "So we heard you thought we didn't kill you enough yet" and decided to just sandwich every possible aoe that a lot of newer players don't seem to understand quite how to deal with.

The last boss in there is nearly impossible if you have high latency. Even with normal latency he's a healer check. If your healer is watching Netflix, you're going to have a bad time on him.

That isn't just a bad Bard that is a bad player. Who spams ONE ability ever?

lets not forget the chains making themselves unbreakable for some unusual buggy reason. had a wipe from the fact me and the healer ended up chained, went to complete opposite ends of the room and the chain still stayed and murdered us. As a guy who had to heal that dungeon I can firmly say the second boss is usually where my troubles began. if the run was gonna fail it was gonna be that boss specifically. even with a 3 wipe run on second boss, the final boss was simple to work with in comparison. but yea I've seen high latency cause so much crap.

that can happen when you run at an angle. the chains break when you go in opposite directions. and its harder to do when you start off farther apart. or have to dodge which in that instance happens frequently

I just had my first actual bad run. It was The Burn. The tank and healer were just bickering the whole time. I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the argument; I just wanted to finish the dungeon so I could buy a new chestpiece and put myself over 360 item level so I could do Ghimlyt Dark and be ready for the Shadowbringers launch.

A vote to kick came up right before the second boss, for the healer, I think. It was somehow rejected before I responded? Weird. I would've thought my input would be needed. Whatever.

At some point after that, the other DPS (a Samurai) and I found ourselves fighting alone for a while, as the tank and healer were still arguing about... whatever. It was pretty much the Samurai tanking and me healing for several minutes before the tank and healer finally rejoined us and we defeated the trash.

Another vote to kick the healer came up soon thereafter. I said yes, kick. I didn't care who was right or wrong right then; I just knew either the tank or healer needed to go. We had wiped a couple of times by this point.

We took on the final boss with a new healer. It was a little harrowing. We didn't quite wipe, but we came close a couple of times. Still, we won in the end. The replacement healer got my comm for working her ass off in that last fight, and I got a comm, too, which kind of surprised me.

I then bought a 390 chestpiece and some 360 gloves. Ghimlyt Dark, here I come!

I want to apologize to all the people who were with me tonight in Ifrit HM.

I... know how to do that fight. I swear. I've done it before. I did it back when I was fresh and shiny and new with little problems, so I don't really know what happened.

I mean, it wasn't entirely my fault and I think anyone could see that. The person who decided to MT would NOT turn Ifrit around... so everyone was constantly getting fire breath'd. This didn't give me much room to do anything but desperately aoe heal. And my brain just... shut off. So I ended up tanking the floor and the other healer ended up popping the healer LB3 to get us all back up to finish Ifrit when he had like 30% left.

I somehow got 2 comms, but I really didn't deserve them.

Ifrit HM... not even Extreme. SMH... at my own self...

Just had a Copperbell Normal that was off to a stunning start (in a funny way, not a bad way). Everything is fine to begin with - everyone says their (Hello!)s, the few enemies in the entrance hall go down quickly, the tiny key is collected. All that's left is to unlock the door to the elevator shaft. But before anyone can stop them, the tank runs over to the glowing purple of the dungeon entrance... And disappears.
I was just like 'wait what just happened!?'. Fortunately a new tank appeared almost instantly and the dungeon proceeded without further incident. But the whole time I was thinking (presuming they had left by accident) "that poor tank!".
There was no 'first time bonus' message, so I presume that first tank had done the dungeon before. Although, I myself have once accidentally queued into a normal instead of a hard mode.

One thing that can cause that to happen is if you start off too far apart. The chains break based on how much the two move away from each other, not absolute distance. You start off with distance X, and no matter what X is, you need to add a set distance Y to it. Problems happen if X+Y> the total width of the arena corner to corner, because you started with X that was too much.
