I... I... urgh...
Just got out of a 45-minute Aurum Vale on my alt.
So, we load in, and as soon as the first pull happens, the Paladin (not in Shield Oath) just absolutely melts. We manage to down the first pack anyways (although with everyone dying at least once). I take a look at the Paladin, whose left side turns out to be half non-tank gear. Well no wonder the melting then. Confusingly, the hat and the boots are from the level 45 quest, but not the rest of the stuff. Next pull, we engage one pack. Summoner and Dragoon spread out and pull in a pack each.
PLD (now in Oath) gets instasplatted by a toad AoE, we get nommed by the other things. Paladin, sensibly, decides they aren't equipped for this.
Soon second Paladin comes in. Needs an Oath reminder. Uses lacking Flash, I get aggro as soon as I cast something.
Get to first boss. Summoner is using Swiftcast to cast Tri-Bind whenever possible, spams Physic when damaged, and eats fruit at random intervals, sometimes at 0 stacks (despite instructions), but no not when it's actually needed.
We wipe once (my bad there, I got cleaved while not remembering the boss had a cleave, although it would have been a wipe anyways, as I just didn't have the MP to heal the massive damage everyone was taking). Get back, barely beat it. Paladin leaves. New Paladin comes in, is actually relatively sensible.
Make our way to second boss. Dragoon eats an occasional AoE and one swing (you have Elusive Jump...), Summoner eats literally everything that comes their way, and instead of dodging, sits there spamming Physic. Doesn't help when it's the big swing AoE... Takes the laser so many times it stops doing the Paralysis.
Around here I take note, that the Dragoon is wearing partially AF gear, partially level 32 stuff (not in a sensible split either, something like AF hat 32 gloves). Summoner has no AF gear at all, all low 40s.
Through the dungeon, Dragoon is occasionally stopping attacking to write some RP (maybe?) stuff. Going on about some dragon after Coincounter. Paladin and myself are confused.
People start aggroing Morbol Fruit without hitting them, causing floods of adds. Now I'm either getting my face chewed off or sitting at 40HP trying to heal the tank who got them off me and needs Cure II spam.
Last boss appears, Summoner still using Swiftcast Tri-Bind (but not when adds show up) and Physic, randomly eating fruit despite instructions.
We end the fight with 1 fruit in existence, everyone with 1-2 stacks, at half HP, me at 200MP, Lucid and Ether on CD, no Manashift in sight. Boss starts casting a third Germinate, but we kill it.
That was an absolutely horrendous run, but at least I got White Mage to 50.
I'm sorry for what you went through but this is golden and how I imagine every dragoon to be in-game. "Stupid dragons ate my waifu".
I think they were trying to imply they confused Coincounter for a dragon? And then later for a miqo'te? And then went back to unrelated dragons without any coherent sentences.
What is with alliance raids and tanks either:
- Fighting for aggro,
- Not picking up the boss/mob when the MT dies, or
- Not picking up the boss when the MT gets sucked into a hole due to mechanics
Just got out of an Orbonne where the second and third point happened. We ended up wiping on the second boss because not enough people were alive in the other two alliances when mine(who the MT was part of) got sucked into the pit. Majority were dead when we got out, and most didn't get raised back up before the adds...though it was VERY close(the 1% was a pixel worth of HP left) to not wiping.
I dont get why if youre a tank and gonna fight for aggro you dont stand near the MT so the boss doesnt spin like a top. Like if the boss has a cleave, why would you fight for aggro standing where the rest of the group is, subjecting them to a cleave once you do get it. Just suck it up, eat the cleave with cooldowns, and fight fort hat aggro to your hearts content near where the MT is.
But...but... How will I assert my dominance over the party?I dont get why if youre a tank and gonna fight for aggro you dont stand near the MT so the boss doesnt spin like a top. Today me and two of my friends had an absolutely miserable time on Rabanastre(one of my friends was new and I feel so bad for her)
But I'm not gonna talk about the story here because I'm saving that for a topic that still to this day Square can and might never fix.
I know this makes my post here pointless and I wont argue that but........I want you to take a guess the type of players who were the culprit behind this miserable run
This is why Balmung was exiled to Crystal
Oh. I just noticed it was someone on Odin that had this happen to them. My deepest condolences for assuming they were on crystal.

"Sometimes I wonder I heal for fun. or if I heal because I'm a glutton for punishment."
