Got Antitower for my EX roulette.

There was a Machinist that was new to the dungeon. When we reached the final boss, he watched the cutscene, made comments about how he felt really uncomfortable, and then NOPE'd out of there. Like, quit the party and everything.

We were in Bismark Hard mode when the SMN at the start of the fight...I kid you not...tells us all that she has a fear of whales...not trolling at all, (as she told me she was shaking IRL after the fight was over) She had Cetaphobia. She apologized before the pull for her DPS not being up to par, and I proceeded to take it as a joke.

We all hop on Bismark's back to DPS it down to get the next double dragon phase of the fight. As we burn down Bismark's back, she stands waaaay in the back to watch us DPS him down. After Bismark's Ultimate enrage after the dragon phase... she doesn't DPS at all almost as if she was frozen in fear after seeing that giant mouth that whale had...

In the end I almost felt sorry for her, but at the same time...its a whale in a video game. ._.

I have arachnophobia and played Dark Souls and many games with freaky spiders...but I've never been frozen enough to do anything about it in a video game.

I'm not too big on PvP. Haven't tried it yet in FFXIV, but I did it once a long time ago in another MMO I played and wasn't much into it. ^^; Plus, I was running with a friend who was also trying to cap hers, and you can't PvP in parties together, I don't think. :c

You can, just not for front lines roulette, however chances are if you queue at the same time you will get in together if in the same GC.

Level 60 roulette. There was a poorly geared (not new to the dungeon though) NIN in Fractal.
He didn't have a venom on, so the other NIN reminded him. Halfway through the first trash pack, he still didn't have venom. I reminded him too. Nothing at the end of the first trash.
The good ninja and I both spam it, using the auto translate. He says nothing. We decide to kick him wen we can He speaks up, "Kick who?".
We tell him he needs to use a venom and huton. He tells us to fuck off, and that we can't tell him how to play. He is met with squinty faces and ellipses. He left before the 1st boss.

Sadly it is not something she can control. I am a bit of an arachnophobe to myself, I cant stand them and I fear them to the point even video games can cause me to either say "screw it" and force me to not even get the game, Skyrim I had to wait a long time for a good No Spider mod. As silly as it is even minecraft spiders can make me uneasy and I am forced to mod them out. Granted I admit fear of whales is not something I have ever heard of but can't blame them for it.

Boyfriend and I like to farm dungeons on their first day to help people get through it, on our 3rd run of the Antitower I jokingly said that if the DPS were too scared to fight the final boss it would be best to stop here and vote abandon.

One of them actually tried to vote abandon...

That warm fuzzy feeling when you walk into an A8 for the first time ever and find that half the party is new, and we wipe over and over at the last phase until finally all the pieces come together half an hour later and everyone clears.

That wonderful feeling when you go into A8 and three people are new and the whole run goes nigh perfectly with zero wipes and a fantastic climax that just makes you go OHHH YEAH MORE BABY!!! ='D
