So I managed to drag a friend into helping me level up another job again.

We queue up for Vault, party was WAR (friend), AST, BRD, and me on SAM. Throughout the entire dungeon, we both realize not only was the ast extremely rusty, but the brd was incredibly special, if not the very reincarnation of the completely useless archer I had waaaaaay back in Aurum Vale that one day. How useless you ask?

The brd would always use Heavy Shot, Straight Shot, and Quick Nock spam. No songs, no Refresh, no Tactican, no RoD, nothing. Their gear and name was different, but I swear to god it was the same guy.

The ast was single-targetting Balance/Arrow/Spear on random party members, and spamming Gravity. My inner-astrologan died a little on the inside.

The whole dungeon was an absolute trudge. If we HAD songs going and the brd doing their proper rotation things would be dropping far faster. Final set of trash (Vault Priest) the brd somehow manages to stand in Dark Fire II and I see his hp tank. The ast was too busy dpsing to cleanse the debuff he had, and he died to DoT.

We get to the boss, and after I explain the mechanics, the boss goes down as slowly as one would expect when a dps is a deadweight. During the dps check, my friend and I bowl down 4 of the holy flames when the brd managed to finally whittle down his and we just make the check. Somehow the brd gets hit with 2 rounds of chess knights and dies to the bleed dot just as the boss dies.

I have never been so happy to get out of the Vault, save for that one time I had to heal a severely undergeared war tank.

I’m all for complaining about horrible BRDs—I get quite tilted by them, being a BRD main myself—but I would remove the word you used to describe this special BRD from your post before you get banned for it.

Then I weirdly get a message from one of the healer in party chat if I don't want any gear. I answer (truthfully) that I'm here for the BRD chest piece. And then one of my FC mates (which I queued with) informed me that a Vote Kick for me was started ... which luckily failed. Sheesh.

In the end the chest piece did drop ... and I got ;-)

Yeah that is the moment where you just yell out in chat "boom [***censored***]!" and do a dance all around the other BRD saying "vote kick this!"

On a completely different note, what is this weird obsession people have with removing Alliance markers in Orbonne's third boss? We had to re-apply them every few minutes because someone apparently didn't want them there. And it hasn't been in just one run either.

Honestly, it's been that way since at *least* World of Darkness. It doesn't surprise me, some people just like screwing around.

I've noticed this across many MMOs. There are some players that just seem to think marks are for goofing around. When in any MMO with a marking system, if I do something like mark a spot or mark a kill order or mark the tanks... I find marks start appearing on random people, getting swapped around, or moved, etc...

Over it WoW it's a tradition to mark the tank (honestly surprised I don't see it here where the graphics can be a LOT more intense)... and sure enough, if you're in a PUG raid and somebody marks the tank, half the time somebody else will randomly apply all the other marks around the raid...

I queue into Stone Vigil (Hard) as a PLD since I needed it for level 50 relic quest and soloing it take forever because of the 2nd boss and cannons. Now I was wanting to get through the dungeon pretty quickly because you gotta do a million dungeons for level 50 relic books so right as the shield goes down I start running forward and miss the Protect by accident. Oops, oh well no big deal, it happens. I noticed right after WHM casted protect that I missed it so I stop for a few seconds and wait for another cast. WHM just /shrugs at me, making his intentions clear that they know I don't have protect and that they won't cast it again. So I continue on. If WHM can't be bothered to cast Protect again, not my problem. WHM has to keep me healed up as the tank so if the healer chooses to do extra work, thats on them. As a tank, I do not care if I have protect or not, as long as the healer keeps me healed up, to which they did. Silly thing to be petty over though .

Healer not giving protect to everyone especially when the party isn't asking is definitely being petty. Even more so if they shrug emote at you.

I had a NIN like that in Doma Castle the other day. The tank wasn't undergeared, but it was a DRK, and still used a level 60 relic weapon. Everything else was more or less on-level but that's still not crazy pull levels. NIN meanwhile pulled more whenever he could and then started complaining when the tank wouldn't pull off them. "I main PLD, he won't die" ......???????

Not really. Protect is a healer tool designed to make their job easier. Every non-healer needs to lose their hard-on for protect because tbh protect isn’t going to save anyone from dying if the healer doesn’t do their job.

It's worse when they don't think they're being petty like the one whm I got in a Library run who told the tank to go pull crazy then get upset that the tank didn't wait for protect and then let them die on the 2nd pull all because the tank didn't wait for protect. Heck even after the 1st pull and they did wait the whm just added more salt.
