Sigh.
So, leveling Astrologian. Go into 50/60 Roulette, get Wanderer's Palace normal. Ok, that's fine.
DRK pulls big. That's fine, I can handle...wait...why is his health....ok we're good we're good....ok shanked by the stalker anD WHY ARE YOU RUNNING THAT WAY goddammit that's a wipe.
Respawn. Redo. Ok. Doing ok...and another wipe after second boss on the way to the Tonberry King. Realize something. Politely ask this DRK who always seems to be afk after every big pull for like 30 seconds.
Me: have you been using Rampart?
Mister DRK: oh no dont tell me to do things i tank this all the time
Mister DRK: you just a slow healer
:^)
No really. I'm an AST. Of course I am slower, I have to play yugioh even more because you refuse to use Rampart!
I finally gave up hitting Draw and spammed heals. We finished and he pretty much insta-left. Such a nice man. Maybe this leveling queue will be my laugh run!
Stand at second boss of Frac Hard for half a minute juggling elements for Enoch. Tank pops Dark Arts and walks forward. I start casting Foul. He decides not to pull. Foul goes off. Eh, happens, fast cast time.
He picks the boss up. Good. Then he Shirks me? Cute. Diversion to pass it back to him immediately.
Finish boss and leave without a word eating the lockout.Do that too much i'll shirk you and you can tank![]()

I don't know if this trend has been going on with some others, but I've been paired up with tanks who don't use Shirk during tank swaps in Extreme primals and Savage raids on several runs lately.

Just reading this makes me want to reach through the monitor and wring someones neck. Random afk/pause tanks(who get upset if you pass them), start and stop tanks(who get upset if you pass them), and vindictive god-complex tanks... i hate them all to one degree or another. One guy displaying all 3 traits? Please please PLEASE just log off forever and try to figure out why your pets hate you(they do). Your router sounds thirsty, why dont you give it some lemonade? You wanna threaten me with tanking? Im clearly better at it then you are so go ahead! Ill dodge the attacks i can, ill use manashield to mitigate what i can, ill pump out as much damage as i can, and ill hope the healer is on point to keep me going. You think i havent done this before?
Um.. so yeah, sorry you had to deal with that NolLacnala. Sounds annoying.
Doing weekly Rido with a friend, I'm on RDM and he's on WHM. The PLD in our group is MTing. He's decently geared but seems inexperienced, there are some threat hiccups during openers but I always have diversion so I'm in the clear at least.
We get to everyone's favorite Math Boss (tm) and despite using Diversion I begin creeping up the threat list after it ends. A few people die so I raise and pop Lucid. We go into the add phase and I diversion in there because both Fleche and Contra are up and I don't want to tank that thing despite him being in Shield Oath.
Now I am accustomed to close calls during the subsequent aggro reset on the boss but since there is literally no reason for a tank to be using Provoke before that unless they're taking over for a dead MT (and my WHM friend and his cohealer have been exemplary so even with no CDs for busters this guy has been safe) so tanks will usually let dps burst then Provoke before the third hit in their threat combo.
When Destroy completely pulverized me our PLD was sixth on the aggro table in our group. He had not even done a threat combo yet. When I said in Alliance chat that I wished the tanks could tank the boss I was criticized for having an i375 weapon.
Yes, clearly the 5 ilvl difference in our weapons invalidated any hope he had of gaining enmity over me. Not like he was applying Goring Blade or anything.
Know what does more damage than Goring Blade? A living dps.
Props to the 4 healers who all raised me within about a second of my dying and to the SCH who tried to Adlo me. SCH friend - it did 99k damage, I don't even think a buffed Critlo could have saved me but thank you for trying.
To that PLD- to quote the post before mine... your router sounds thirsty, please give it a glass of lemonade.
Ive run into more then a few DPS who didnt know about the enmity reset after tarterus(it was a few weeks of running it repeatedly before i found out myself), but i give less slack to tanks for that. As MT for an alliance raid, your most important job is to keep aggro so that the 15 DPS of varying skill that came along can try to do their thing(you know, when they arent eating easy to dodge aoes and dying repeatedly). When everything is going well these fights often devolve into "organized chaos" as people try to dodge multiple simultaneous attacks, throwing a rampaging boss into the mix is totally unnecessary. Unless you and the raid are literally new, then you need to know about any enmity resets and be ready to take control immediately after. And even if you didnt know, noticing when you arent being targeted and reacting quickly is key. And criticizing someone for having a slightly better weapon? If you and/or your gear(but really, its all you) arent able to handle the job, there are 2 other tanks along and maybe one of them should take the lead instead.

So I just had the longest Tam Tara hard run on my WAR. Party's full of newbies : BLM, SAM, WHM.
So everything's smooth. I explain how the bosses work and the others do great. WHM doesn't dps and focuses on healing but I don't mind.
Then we got to the last boss and holy sh*t. So the BLM and WHM are having difficulties dodging stuff. That's okay because they learnt quickly.
The part with adds is where things go south. SAM focused only on boss and WHM didn't DPS while BLM tried his best.
We wiped...4 times.
Each time I told them to really focus on the adds, especially for the WHM who needs to DPS and the SAM who just focused on the boss. The WHM left because it was too much for her I guess.
At this point the BLM's gear is 100% ruined but I want to clear the boss for him because he was a cinnamon roll.
New healer comes and he is very kind. We manage to get the boss's HP to less than 20%. We tell the SAM to LB except it doesn't come. Wipe.
When asked if he had the LB on his bar he said : "I didn't do it because you are annoying lol." Kicked.
Got a new SAM who was excellent and nice and we finally cleared the boss after 58 minutes of pain for me and the poor BLM.
So bless the new healer and SAM and good luck to you my sweet BLM angel.
I’d argue it’s people like you are the reason you have to wait for tanks. Why don’t you play a tank? Probably because you don’t find it fun and not because someone bullied you in duty finder about not having any awareness?
