I also noticed she was summoning early in that battle, but didn't think anything of it at the time. In any case she didn't resummon it until we got to the final boss.

(And of course it was Aurum Vale. Not a fun run, whether that was the problem or not.)

Basically, you park the pet during the boss fight rather than have it follow you around. For the fairies (or a summoner's Garuda), this lets them cast more consistently since they won't have to move. It helps that many ae's don't harm them.

After the fight, you need to call them to heel, or else they remain parked. Once you run away far enough, they will de-summon and you will have to re-summon them at the start of the next fight (or go without).

Just had a little roulette drama, the smallest really, but it has irked me somewhat.

Preamble: I'm learning tanking as I like to try everything as it helps make me a better player/teamplayer especially since my "endgame" isn't what I think it should be. After parking my paladin at 50 for tome gathering, sidelining the DRK for a different day (I like, but not feeling it just yet), I'm running MRD. My dungeon choices are few for the roulette at this point, but I'm fairly confident I won't do too badly, as I've done them on the pally a few times now, and lots more on DPS and healers.

So, in this roulette Sastasha pops up. Now, I know it's not the most thrilling place, but the healer immediately announces it to be a boring place. Okay, fine, I know, but there's a first timer in the party, so that's not the greatest impression if this is what they read in their first dungeon (but as they were silent the whole run, I don't really know their thoughts, and they may have been an alt. Still.).

The healer runs ahead, pulls stuff off and on, and this is mostly fine, as no one's dying or anything. I have no issue with it, but figure sooner or later they may want something more to do. After all, they have pronounced the dungeon as boring! So, in the middle section room where all the quarters are with a few mobs on the wooden platform, I decide to start the pull just with the first three, but then take the last standing around, past the Captain's Quarters, in order to grab the other mobs, including the two by the Waverider Door, then take them in front of the Captain's Quarters for some murdering, but the healer is telling me not to go over to the Waverider door, because "we don't need [to gather everything? Go to that door at that point?]", *sigh*s at me and proceeds to let me die at the door, despite the fact it's only a group of six, and we have a thaumaturge and arcanist who are doing decently enough, and I was doing fine with aggro. Frankly, I'd've thought it just gave them all something to do, especially since the healer was complaining about the place being boring. Meh, what can a poor tank do? After the boss, the healer promptly leaves the duty without a word. My thoughts are these: you know you can get anything you've unlocked in the roulette. If you're not prepared to suck it up, you probably shouldn't run it. Healer, adjust that attitude.

My upside is, if this had occurred just in February, when I'd first started playing, I'd've been in tears, likely never wanting to log in again (had health issues, anxiety, and am epileptic to boot). Now I'm posting here with a mini-GRRR! rant, and about to tank in another dungeon to see what happens. And I'm not in tears at all. So, yay, FFXIV Duty Finder, I suppose! Have a good day, everyone.

To counteract the negative experiences, have a good experience.

For anyone who was on the Dun Scaith run with me that ended a few minutes ago, you guys were amazing. I've done this dungeon at least 10 times at this point in hopes of securing a Wind-up Scathach and never had a I had a run that was just so buttery smooth without even a single wipe or close call. According to my friend who was the tank on my alliance, this kind of thing rarely happens. Even though the minion didn't drop, I had so much fun with you guys, whoever you are. If you see this, I just want to say thank you all. You guys were great.

I thought that might've been the run I was in but my run did have a wipe to Scathach because nobody picked up the add. I'm still pretty happy with it though considering we did one shot Diabolos Hollow without incident which I've never seen happen.

So first of all, congrats on coming as far as you have in only 6 months! Youre overcoming real issues, not just "this dungeon bores me" ones, and thats cool. As for that healer, thats a bad attitude all the way around. If they didnt want to risk getting a low level dungeon, why not que for a roulette with only higher level options(50/60 or alliance for instance)? If theyre under 50 and dont want to risk a low level dungeon then que directly for the one you actually want to do - i realize this is sacrificing the roulette bonus exp but clearly they werent willing to deal with the roulette part of it all. So bad on them, and good on you for keeping your spirits up!

So, during my time in PF recently, I came to the realisation PF actually has a language entirely its own, separate from normal English. Now, since this may confuse newer people, I've decided to compile a handy translation guide of some of the more prominent aspects of the language:

"Farm group, don't make any mistakes."
Translation: Disband after three wipes, two of which were caused by the PF leader.

    "Wolf farm."
Translation: 4 - 5 mistake-laden runs with low DPS which culminate in the weakest or most obnoxious member of the group getting a whistle and disbanding.

    "Clear for friend then farm."
Translation: We will clear but it will take so long and be so tedious we'll immediately disband after.

    "Helping friend with clear."
Translation: You're helping five of us clear, and none of us know what we're doing.

    "Training group."
Translation: We didn't even watch a guide and will spend 30 minutes wiping to basic AOE and cleave mechanics. Also, half of us don't speak English.

"Training group, please be patient and tolerant."
Translation: We'll disband after one wipe because the salty edgelord tank who can't read will rage quit after insulting everyone.

"Farm group, loot master rules first come first serve."
    Translation: haha, no.

    Happy PF farming!

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

Helping a friend level DRK, I went AST for Alliance Roulette and we wound up in Syrcus Tower... I had forgotten we could get something in the 50's, ohno, I realize I don't get Gravity until 52.

I said something along those lines in party chat as we approached the first room of trash and my WHM cohealer made me so happy! She runs in and starts Holying her butt off. I keep the tank up and toss her a Ewer so it feels like I'm doing something useful.

We had a nice chat through the rest of the raid, turns out she's a tank main while Vanille and I main WHM, and I got an Enhanced Balance on her during the next big room of adds. She did not disappoint.

Its nice to see people out there in DF playing well! She helped restore a bit of my faith in pugs. If you read this Chloe it was lovely healing with you, I hope you got many comms.

    Pagos Storytime.

    Got into a pre-made group of 30+.

    Fate Ice cream fate pops.

I tell them I don't know the way.

One tells me to follow him, and then jump said area.

I should have looked at map...it was the wrong side and then I died to the dragon near icebloom caves. They all stayed up top and went for the icecream fate lol.

    Left me dead.

So I had to spam shout, pretty heartbreaking to just get 30 and then be left for dead knowing youll delevel....

But at 200 a 23 astro raised me, because he was having fun looking for me. such an awesome guy to risk his balls to come save me.
Thanks to that guy. so much win.
