Had one of those samurai who refuses to use AOE today in Swallow's Compass. He started getting pissy at me for using a RDM LB on the pull before the second boss (the one with the morbol) because he wanted to use it on the boss. The entire party immediately told him to shut his hole. Didn't hear a word from him for the rest of the run.

Leveling roulette sent me to The Aetherochemical Research Facility. PLD (me), WHM, BRD, and a SAM. I initially did a few large pulls but mobs took so long to die I then noticed no AOE from anyone...no Holy, arrows, or even fuga, mangetsu, or oka.

My PLD was spamming Eclipse till I just said meh and pulled single groups, it made me sad.

Yeesh, does that mentality irk me in so many ways... If you've got three or more mobs, just use AoEs people!

If you dont mind me giving some advice here: Its irrelevant for your party which song you're using, so no need to announce it in party-chat. Personally I'd find that more annoying than helpful. They all offer the same initial buff for the party, the only thing that differs is Troubador (called like that? The thing that gives more HP/defense/magic defense) and you have to use that skill before it matters.
So all you do is clutter the party-chat with information no one needs.

And you just shouldnt use macros to "chain" battle-skills. Period.

Useful macros as bard, if you really want to use some, would be announcing the use of Refresh/Tactian (and how long its gonna be on cooldown) or - as a stretch - the buffs you can put on the tank.

I do have buffs on a macro like "'Foe Requiem", "Battle Voice" and such but I've also got "Pallisade" on quick fire macro because that seems a useful and quick buff for the tank. Still deciding if I want "Warden's Paeon" on a similar quick fire.

I guess my thinking is that AOEs are good at "softening up" a group but, after they've weakened enough, best to save the magic and just start picking them off.

If I have a LB charged early in the boss fight, I'll use it because there's a good chance it will recharge before it's over (I've gotten off as many as three). If it's closer to the middle or end, I've had party members tell me I should hold onto it until closer to the end of the fight.

While I was leveling ROG/NIN recently I had a couple people complain about me using LB1 on earlier dungeon bosses as soon as its up too. They didn't explain their reasoning at all. IMO its wasteful to sit there with a full LB bar for 2/3 of the dungeon.

I almost never see anyone use the LB in dungeons outside of the last 5-10% of the final boss when I go in as healer or tank, except a couple exceptions with wall-to-wall pulls.

Another one the other day in Halatali, while I was leveling ARC:
Tank told me to focus only his target, instead of using DoTs and AoE. Single-targeted for a bit and still pulled some mobs, so I just went right back to throwing DoTs and AoE. I had more than enough potions and Second Wind to keep myself up without the healer having to do much of anything anyway. I'm a bit surprised he didn't start marking mobs at that point.

Weird DRK in Haukke from leveling roulette. Had Darkside on for a grand total of five seconds (as in, apparently turned it on by accident and then immediately turned it back off), was randomly dropping Grit out of combat and then turning it back on halfway into a pull, Provoking things he had on him already, Unleash on single target, no Unleash on some groups, not picking up adds on the last boss... And of course, no reactions to chat.
Not a truly fresh DRK either, had a few levels under his nonexistent belt. I'm sad now...

Just came out of a run as a DPS in Amdapoor Keep, and the chat at the end of the fight bothered me a lot. Up until the final boss, the run went smooth as rain - had a DRK, BLM, and WHM with me and everything was going fine. About 2/3rds of the way through the fight, the BLM was standing directly behind the boss and wasn't paying attention to the fact that the tank had re-positioned it (or maybe forgot that the tail hits hard and give concussions). I can tell myself that the BLM was out of the healer's range, and in their attempt to get out of the way of the tail, they not only still get hit with it, they get even further away from WHM's heal.

Naturally, the DoT kills the BLM. Myself, the WHM, and the DRK proceed to finish off the boss about 10 seconds later. The chat proceeds as follows:

BLM: You know, you can heal instead of nuke, you're a WHM, right?

WHM: ROFL, you know you can dodge mechanics instead of standing in them, right? <leaves the instance>

BLM: Hope you're in a car wreck tonight

Me thinking to myself: wtf, really?

I dunno if I should report this or not, but wow, that escalated quickly. Jenova peeps, check your players. Some of them are, indeed, jerks.

Going through Heaven on High. Got more magicite than I'd ever seen in one run before. We nuked four floors in a row and still had two for the boss. It was hilarious.

And I finally got the hair, too!

Today I was helping my friend level his Ninja to 70, since he's been a good chap and helped me with levelling my crafters and whatnot.

First we did Doma Castle. I was playing as my WHM and it was a very great run, Tank was trusting and didn't spam his God Mode even when I let him drop under 20% (he was very good at his job, very sturdy, just what I like from tanks). ...But it seems like this was all my luck spent for the day, because when we reached Castrum Abania...

That's when all hell broke loose. I see this i370-or-around-abouts PLD and assume the run will go fine. That was my first mistake. They pull in Sword Oath, and proceed to show me that even the highest gear of the game cannot protect you from being the actual squishiest tank in the ENTIRE universe. Not a single cooldown was used in this dungeon (besides perhaps I think I saw a Sentinel once during a random mob pull), and the PLD thinks to put up Hallowed at 40% HP, and spam Clemency if they lost even the slightest smidgeon of health (not that I blame them, I've seen sturdier undergeared healers). It was "fun" when I could see a huge tankbuster coming up and not a single cooldown on our good old buddy Sword Oath McGee. Even as a healer, I enjoy being able to do more than just heal, so seeing the tank being completely stupid by using no CDs and probably going "herp derp, healer adjust lol xd" made me infuriated.

I have a Mentor status on my character, but I assumed this Paladin, whose Lodestone can confirm has completed up to 08S (although with their playstyle I assume they paid for their clear) would know the simplest basics of their job, such as "maybe use Rampart once in a while", and thus wouldn't need me to spoon feed them baby tips to their job. It took all I had to not leave them some kind of snarky comment before I left, but once the last boss was downed I simply left as fast as I could. My heavily undergeared Ninja friend got both commendations.

I don't consider myself even remotely as the best healer, but I consider myself competent and able to do my job. But even if you have the best healer in the whole world, don't be a jackass, and actually use the cooldowns you have. It's part of your kit for a reason.
