first off that mentor was rude, secondly if he was having trouble with aggro in dps stance he should have swapped back at least to build more.

Starting to get why having no ilevel requirement for leveling dungeons pisses people off. I'm leveling my AST, and I directly queue for the Aery. Nice peeps. Everyone says hello, and the tank asks me if big pulls are ok. I check everyone's gear, and the lot of them are sitting at ilv115 including the tank. Some members have vacant gear slots. Not even a HQ piece of gear among them. I politely say no, and that better gear is needed as the mobs here hit pretty hard for a leveling group.
Tank listened and stuck to small pulls. We did ok on the trash, but the bosses were dying so very slowly. I knew Niddy was going to be a problem. Sure enough it was. Took us three tries, and I realized after the first two wipes that trying to keep the DRG in my party on his feet was actually hurting us. I was spending way too many gcds and MP on this guy, and the third attempt went over without much difficulty when I decided to leave him facing the dirt. I am such a tolerable healer, and will put up with just about anything and still raise you. If I actually decide to leave you dead, you are a serious detriment to the group and need to git gud real quick.
Actually, the problem wasn't aggro management, the problem was our ability to survive. The two healers were new so their responses were slow. When I was MTing Susano, there were moments where the entire party was sitting sub 25% HP for ten+ seconds (usually after double Ukahi). I mitigated through every tank buster and had help from the PLD, but even then I could tell the healers were scrambling to try to figure out the best moves to help put the party health back together. There were certainly a couple of butt clenching worthy moments in the fight - probably about three in total.
I imagine if the MT on our second attempt camped tank stance, we would be okay or at least have gotten farther so the healers would've gotten more experience. If anything by camping DPS stance after picking up the initial hate, it's pretty clear to me that the MT didn't know how to adapt to non-optimal situations and choose to be a dick about it, sadly.
Party finder story.
Bunch of people from my fc have been working on the new primal. I haven't done much because of my work schedule and they usually start late at night. Anyway, they started a bit earlier last night and since I didn't have to work today, I joined in. The rest of the people we got were from Gilga, so I'm assuming they were friends. The party leader (not me) put it in as a clear party (which I didn't know about until afterwards) rather than a learning one. Our bad. However, what followed was.. a mess.
On the first pull, neither of the healers from Gilga stacked appropriately for spear and ended up killing almost all of us. Thanks to me going in as RDM, I managed to raise over half the group.
We made it to the add phase. The AST, WHM, BLM from Gilga targetted the ranged adds. Myself on RDM and the two BRDs from my fc were the only ones targeting the tethered adds. I mark them as 1 and 2 and type in chat "please focus tethered adds first", no response and no change. I can see the BLM continually aoeing the ranged ones, the WHM spamming Holy, the AST spamming Gravity. We somehow manage to take the tethered ones down and the next one is up. The same thing again. I mark that one and one of the tanks from my fc says in chat to take down the tethered one first. No response. No change.
Suffering gauge by the end of that was at 80 so by the time the next part happened, we hit 100 and wiped.
Tank says "you always focus tethered adds first" and the AST says "I blame weakness" in response and in reference to the fact that they and the other healer both died to the first improperly handled (by them) stack.
We pull again, this time they stack correctly and we get to the adds. Again, they're not focusing on the tethered ones but by some miracle the BRDs and myself manage to obliterate the first tethered two, and then halfway through killing the second one, the people from Gilga decide to focus on that one rather than the ranged. Meanwhile, BLM says in chat "oh look you didnt need to kill the tether first lol" and of course then we wipe.
WHM takes the time to type "maybe if dps were pulling their weight it wouldn't be a problem" followed by "a drk and ast shouldnt be out dpsing you." BLM puts "ROASTED!" in chat.
Now, up until this point on my parser, the BLM was sitting at the top for numbers and I was behind. I don't main RDM and so my numbers were not as good as I'd have liked but they weren't too far behind the BLM. So I have no idea where they're getting the idea that the DRK and AST were out-dpsing anyone else.
I'm annoyed and frankly would rather just leave and kick them out. I say this on voice chat to my fc mates but one of my tanks just pulls because whatever. One of the BRDs, annoyed, asks "hows my dps now?" and the BLM says "practically the same" AST goes "I mean if you're the one doing nothing" (at this point, it was actually me on RDM who hadn't started yet because I was so annoyed would rather just wipe and leave). BLM then pipes up with "if you're gonna be this casual don't go into extreme"
Again, we made it to add phase and again, no one but myself and the BRDs were working on the tethered ones until they were half dead and then the group from Gilga decided to switch. We wiped anyway on meteors and I promptly left. The Gilga people left, we all blacklisted them.
We started a new party finder, this time w/ my instruction to put it as "learning party past first meteors." We replaced the DRK, who had to go to bed, with a PLD and got 2 new healers (unfortunately one was just doing it for the first time but he was receptive to learning the stacks and the add phase and he was trying his best). We consistently made it past the add phase never seeing more than a final gauge at 82. Then we lost one of our BRDs who switched to a new ps4 and had to redownload the game which would have taken too long. The fresh healer dropped out and I swapped to AST to co-AST with the random that joined in the PF and who was kind enough to join our voice chat to help out. We grabbed a PLD from the FC and a couple of random DPS through Party Finder. For the next entire duty timer, we consistently made it past second meteors and to bright blade/dark blade but kept getting tripped up on the fans+stack. The add phase gauge never saw more than 74 as a total because we burned through the adds so fast.
We didn't clear, but I am way more confident at the fight now playing healer than I was on BLM or on RDM. I found it far easier to manage the mechanics this go around.
Canadian, eh!"When someone told me I live in a fantasy land, I nearly fell off my unicorn"
I am at a loss as to what to level next so I'm doing DRK but it's in the low 40's so I can't do trial or anything on it. I went to do trial this morning on RDM for creation and got a Shinryu in progress this morning that took 3 wipes to clear. I had over 50k health by the end with all the echo bonus. The healers? Around 30k a piece. Neither had done their level 70 job quest so both were wearing a mix of shire, dungeon and nq gear including matching level 66 weapons - one was hq though.
Honestly, it doesn't take much googling to understand that Shinryu is at least a mechanically complicated fight with a fair bit of incoming damage. One of the healers even said this was the third time he queued in and when I told him about his job quest he said "yeah they told me that last time but I just wanna get this done while I'm here x3"
Like I'm sorry - what? You were already told how you're causing all these wipes and just didn't do anything about it? If we had wiped one more time I was going to consider trying to kick him to drive home the importance of gear or like human decency.
Today I was in Rabanastre with @MoroMurasaki and was too shy to say hi there so o/ hi.
As for a story, in that very same run I rolled a 98 on the on Rofocale card and I was in voice chat so happy I "won" it. My best friend was silent and when the roll list came out she rolled a 99 on the very same card. Friendship ended because she laughed at me.
Ran the newest lv70 dungeon on WHM, trying to get SMN gear since my SMN didn't have the gear level to enter it yet.
In chat, I kindly asked the other people to pass on caster gear unless they really need it for their own class, if they don't mind. (pretty much in these words)
After that, the Blackmage in full i270 gear proceeded to roll Need on every single caster piece that dropped.
Needless to say, I was a sad panda that day.
Okay forgive me if this is off-topic...
LS and I decided to do a Vault run, when we derped...

We got all the way up to the last boss, got him down to about 15% but in the end he just kept throwing cheap combos at us and we eventually abandoned and went back in with a better group setup and got it first try, no deaths.
