The other dps and the healer were idiots, plain and simple. Not giving a new player to learn and react to a new challenge is dumb.
Also wiping on that boss is on the healer, even if the tanks stays in the poison and doesn't move him out of the Regen field. The poison isn't to hard hitting and 2 dps can easily out-dps the Regen on the boss. Just takes a bit longer.

While I agree that the tank should have the opportunity to learn, you are not making any sense. When you are at that level and you have to Esuna tanks, DPS and yourself, it drains your mana by quite a bit. If the fight continues to drag on, you'll find yourself unable to cleanse or heal. When I healed it, I had a tank that kept it in poison. And even though I was DPSing as a healer too and we had relatively good DPS, barely were we doing actual damage on the boss with the regen in mind. If it's a wipe, it's the tank's fault for not going the mechanics, nothing else.

So today I had an exhausting Susano normal as WAR (first time tanking it). My co-tank is a PAL and put on Sword Oath so naturally I went Defiance in order to MT. And good lord was he annoying.

So during the first phase, when my HP got around 60-50% he provoked (in Sword Oath) the boss without any good reason except for : "You were around half-life so we must swap." Hmmm no ? May I also add he used every CD he had when he had full aggro ?

Then at the sword phase with the QTE, I click on the marker. My gear was better than him and with Defiance I had way more HP hence why I went to do the QTE.
He just stayed there, not catching any balls or attacking the sword, leaving the DPS to do all the job.
I called him on that but he didn't answer.

Second phase I die to the tank buster because I used my CD a bit too late and...he doesn't provoke the boss. He tries to aggro the boss in Sword Oath while it went to kill the rest of the party. Then when he was the only one left he provoked.

Second try went way better but sometimes he tried to provoke the boss STILL IN SWORD OATH and it almost would have worked if I didn't stay in Defiance. And then he would just stay put and eat all the AOEs (which he did in the first try mind you).

I admit I really wanted to shirk him during the second phase just out of pettiness but decided not to because some players were new and I wanted to clear the boss for them.

I love this boss fight but good lord he made it really stressful for me.

Had a Ramuh run where a Lalafell monk joked that they couldn't reach high enough to punch anything but beard. I (playing MCH that day) offered to load her on my gun and fire her up at him.

Everyone spent the rest of the fight making jokes about a potato cannon.

Well, I haven't queued in any game as a healer for almost a year. I'm not so good at FFXIV, especially higher end content (despite time/practice), but the atmosphere and stories are cool so I always come back even if I'm away a few weeks or months. Decided to try a 50/60 and leveling (which was a 60-something) as healer. And it was like I never left: in the 60+ a largessed regen isn't enough to get through a few holies, so bene, but then the tank is near death again right away after a few more holies. Sorry to both groups, not only was I away but I changed a lot of keybinds. But it just seems like it is the same anyway.

I don't personally mind 80% healing on large pulls, but I know everyone is expecting holy spam. If there was a way to slowly get tomes for gear while deselecting current content I would do it in a heartbeat. Hope everyone is getting good pugs. If you see me in yours stay out of the AoE or I might be running to much to heal you in time

EDIT: No self-pity, nor claiming the game is too hard, just weird that I can play very little in 2018, come back after a couple of months away, and still be at the same skill level as when I was playing regularly and practicing healer stuff a lot.

If there was a way to slowly get tomes for gear while deselecting current content I would do it in a heartbeat.

50/60 roulette, alliance raids and (if you have the time) MSQ roulette should get you there, I think.

If you’ve been away for a while, you might not be aware, but the MSQ roulette dungeons have been adjusted to prevent skipping cutscenes, and the rewards have been increased to compensate. (Running time is now around 35-50 minutes depending on which dungeon you get.) People will debate its efficiency but it’s still a few hundred tones for doing old content, and not working all that hard for it. Just have something out-of-game to do during the cutscenes.

They buffed the XP rewards though, and the poetics. so if you're still leveling any jobs.. can't beat the MSQ roulette. The XP is rather ridiculous, and if you get a newbie in there with you, it's 500 poetics which is not small by any means.

I've been leveling AST recently and worked up enough confidence to heal in parties.

Yesterday, I got Labyrinth of the Ancients in Roulette. Usually I enjoy this Raid due to it being easy. Well, shenanigans happened on Bone Dragon that killed half of the Raid, resulting in some 1.0 people screaming at "Stormbabies" for being new and not doing the Raid the way it was meant to be done because they didn't play from the beginning. All in all, the constant bickering made things unpleasant.

Today, I got Dun Sçaith in Roulette and I was freaking out because I always get the ARR Raids in roulette. My party was kind and understanding, though, and we went ahead and pulled. Not only did the Raid not wipe on any bosses, everyone did mechanics fairly well, barring some circles going off on Diabolos Hollow. I even managed to get three commendations at the end.

It's just kinda funny how my least favorite Raid wound up being a more enjoyable experience than one that's significantly easier.

So I had a fun run of Swallow's Compass. I've been spamming it for desynthesis fodder to get all three of my desynths to 350 before the next patch, so I've been going there a lot. Didn't get any fodder this time, but this run was still worth it.

After the second boss, I asked the group if they'd ever seen someone die in the boss' lake before. I mean, I sure haven't. I'm sure it's happened somewhere because of lag or lack of attention, but the attack is so obvious that no one in their right mind with a stable connection is going to drown in it. Told the group I tried to imagine it happening, but just couldn't. Tank said they'd consider dying to it in the next run they did just for giggles.

Fast forward to the last boss. It goes normally, but I accidentally take a normal "Both Ends" aoe after stacking for a stack marker. "Sorry guys, had a lake moment." Tank was amused by this. After we finished the boss, the tank warned us not to drown in any lakes.
