I'm so tired of this. A fair percentage of us tanks are NOT douchelords who don't understand the concept of a player who is new to whatever dungeon we're doing!

YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO LOOK UP A GUIDE BEFORE ENTERING A NEW INSTANCE! Unless it's something like an EX or Savage clear/learning party.

Yeah I expected some backlash especially as dps and not knowing when to stop on big pulls but idk. Especially knowing when this came out they probably didn't read a guide themselves and face pulled/ died learning.

But all I can say is Shrug. There's always going to be that one guy whose a douche and shames the community as a whole. Oh well.

If you say that youre new and i dont explain the important mechanics that you need to be aware of then how in the world can i be mad at you for not knowing the mechanics? Do i expect you to read my mind? That guy is being dumb. Looking up mechanics for a normal instance is wasted effort 95+% of the time. They are usually easy enough to intuit on the fly, and often its just something youve done(or at least could have done) in some other instance being reused. Now if we were talking about (extreme)+ level of difficulty, then yeah looking up what to expect before you go is the norm. If you really dont want to, then your group should know youre going in blind before the instance starts - even most "learning" groups will assume youve watched/read a guide and just need to learn to do the things you saw. Of course, putting up your own blind-learning pf group is an option as well. But nah, what you did was perfectly fine and that guy is an idiot.

The other day I was tanking in wanderers palace for my BRD gfs first time there... we had a ninja and I think a white mage... my gf is new to BRD and hasn't played much (just finished cape westwind)... the WHM spent half the dungeon SCREAMING at my ff to use her dots... she isn't a gamer and I was trying to explain mechanics, what dots are, which way to go (she gets lost in dungeons)... we clear everything without any issues... at the end the WHM again blasts my gf saying "bard better or quit"... the NIN replied with "rude much?" To which the WHM replied "suck much?" And then they went thru the exit... serious salt for nothing....

It’s a really weird phenomenon I've kinda noticed. I'm not saying that tanks are nasty people, but A LOT of nasty people are tanks. I thought that it was supposed to be healers that were salty with everyone? What with the whole 'standing in the fire' thing.

Regardless, I think you're perfectly fine. There's no shame in dying if it's your first time.

We've been salty for so long that we're pure, condensed salt. No longer spills out. Like how when a star gets hotter it's smaller.

I've already condensed so much I'm a black hole of salt. Though unlike a black hole, salt does spill out sometimes (with a potency of about 100 billion)

Kinda remind me of that thread a while back that blew up where the person complained about people not watching guides and reading op on a 4man dungeon.

Just got out of a Rabanastre that Moro happened to be in! I didn't notice until the end so I didn't have the chance to say hello... We were in different alliances ;w;

During the last boss though, when he was around 0.5% hp and there are three people down in our alliance (my cohealer and two dps), one of the dps, a DRG, starts asking me in party chat to lb3 or start raising people-- which I ignore, because the boss is quite literally nearly dead and hopefully one of the living dps will use it to finish him off quickly. Even after he goes down, I continue to get insulted along the lines of "oh, it was crazy of me to think a healer would do their job!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the boss is quite literally has only a sliver of hp left, is it not better to contribute your dps? I can cast a lot of stones in the time it would take me to resurrect 3 people.

EDIT: Forgot about this, but earlier ran Sirensong for levelling on my SAM (finally hit 70, woohoo!) and there was a bonus. Around the first boss, I notice things are going down kind of slowly and lo and behold, the other dps (a RDM) is wearing 135-145 gear with one piece of shire gear. Since there was a bonus, I assume they're new and suggest the work on getting more pieces to help them with content after the dungeon. I get the response "I know", which prompts me to check their info... They had multiple 70s; the new player was our (well geared) healer.

I was on brd, and I told him I was new. This guy was silent the whole run, except to tell us NOT to dps until he stopped moving. Which the RDM did pull a couple times but when it was just me and him at the end he dropped that message like a brah.

I just found it hilarious since I went to sigmascape before it and watched guides because of the fact that it is still legitimately important. Then I was hoping well its expert, let me test the waters. Hey, I'm new and then to blow up at the end after being nonresponsive the whole time. Right sounds like this guy has too much on his plate.
It's not hard to say hey this one mechanic here will kill you so watch out for it.

Though I will say it equally sucks when the entirety of the pt is silent the whole run lol
