Titan Hm, my first time tanking but no where close to my first time running, everything was going great, until I took one step back and fell right to my death. Oops.
Playing ranged/caster is my bread and butter in MMOs, queuing for dungeons takes usually me on average 30 minutes here as DPS. Started levelling conjurer and first dungeon queue when i hit level 15... got instantly after applying for Duty Finder. Same thing happens for next two dungeons. I cry every time![]()
Yesterday I did my trial roulette on AST and my co healer was a scholar, so I activated Diurnal. And guess what, Nocturnal would've been the better choice here as the scholar let Eos run on auto and never used Adloquium ._.
I always find it hilarious when people try to make that as a core aspect of the argument, just cus you only have 1 job leveled means they have zero idea how to play. I only have 1 tank but doesnt take a lot of IQ power to know if your losing hate to turn on Tank stance or if your stealing aggro everytime that you may need to change up tactics. xDPlayers were arguing over 3 minutes, and trying to cheer the other white mage up, whom had been, according to the chats, been "abused" by the previous healer. (something they said was along the lines of "how did he dare to try to give tips when he had only single job - whm - himself ?")
As for my story, ended up running Fractal as a black mage, I am still learning my rotation but I think I am getting the basic down with some slips here and there trying to juggle all the skills. After the first boss I take a look at the names and notice the name "Avatar Korra" who I had tanked for a few weeks back using DF, complete with matching glamour. Just kinda funny to see someone you DF'd with from another server and meet em again :3

This is a story + a question.
I did A1 for the first time last night. I ran it four times (I wasn't having much luck with the drops, I think tonight I will sell myselfbonus for A2-A4 in PF in exchange for passing on loot).
Each and every time I had trouble healing through the damage. At first I thought it was me, then I started noticing that people had vulnerability stacks. At one point the other healer had seven stacks and died (I managed to save that situation, but we ended up wiping to the self-destruct mechanic at the end. Boo, there go my comms). There were lots of DPS with stacks, four or five. I was doing a lot of rez'ing and I was out of MP more often than I should have been as a SCH.
Normally when I am new to a duty with minimum entry requirements met I assume that if there's a problem with the run it's probably me, but I wasn't getting any stacks. The stacks come from the AOE circles and columns, right? So if you just dodge AOE like you have been the whole game you shouldn't get any stacks at all? When there were no stacks, it was really easy to heal and I could DPS for a long while. Is there something about that encounter that makes it harder to dodge for some classes (I only play SCH really)? It seemed like all four of my runs were like this...

The stacks of vulnerability result from the adds attacks. The more adds are biting a player, the more vulne, he'll got. That means 2 things in this case : if your co-healer had 7 stacks, it means he basically tanked them all, which should be the dps' jobs - bring the adds under the meteor, kill them to create a "mini" zone, and let the meteror goes mini when it reaches the floor (if it's not mini'ed, the attack that comes next is very powerful).
This is probably what happened. Cohealer tanked / adds not killed under the laser and meteors / Meteors hit the ground > heavy attack > Lots of rez to do.
Not your mistake at all. Totally a DPS failure.
The vulne stack aren't too hard to heal through, even when 7 stacks though. But you pay for it when the meteor attack comes next.
Ah, so the vulnerability comes from the adds, which absolutely have to be killed under the nukes, so any DPS positioning the vital adds will pretty much get unavoidable stacks. That makes a lot more sense. That would also explain why I didn't get any stacks. I contributed DPS to the adds, but I never had aggro on them. Thanks for this!
I'll do some mitigation before the add phase and I'll save some AF for indo after the nukes and that should fix it.![]()
Celebrating the positive: Void Ark run last night, no wipes, got through Cuchulainn with one tank death but otherwise no issues, got the loot I'd really been wanting, cleared in maybe 40 min? My party was all FC members and at one point I dropped a Deathflare pull on a boss, said "Goodbye cruel world" certain I was about to get one shot, my Astro healer calmly saved my ass as our tank got aggro off me and one of our BLMs and said "what's that? Not dead?" It's always awesome to go in with a party that you know will have your back.
Today Roulette Lv50 gave me Tam-Tara HM in progress. First time using my new video card (GTX 960). With onboard video (Intel HD 2000) was hard avoid aoe of last boss, but playing to 60fps was easy![]()
The queue times on tanks and healers are glorious, but I cry because I get more DPS comms.Playing ranged/caster is my bread and butter in MMOs, queuing for dungeons takes usually me on average 30 minutes here as DPS. Started levelling conjurer and first dungeon queue when i hit level 15... got instantly after applying for Duty Finder. Same thing happens for next two dungeons. I cry every time
