Alliance roulette going not so smooth, not because of lack of dps or something but because noone is paying attention. One of my party members is having fun in /a chat and posting emotes towards the bosses. Someone from another party keeps bitching about them not getting provoke. Like "How about you unslot that /laugh and equip a provoke, you bloody need it, you suck as tank, we keep failing" yadda yadda. This might have been a fair complaint, but... my party member who "sucks at tanking" was a mch... and consistently pointed it out.
So in spite of my most recent complaint about Rabanastre, I had a very interesting run in World of Darkness today. This was perhaps the friendliest 24-man I've ever been in. Players actively discussed strategies, about how we wiped to Angra Mainyu, and how to deal with Cerberus. It was actually very fun. I love these kinds of runs.
Funny story, my alliance all got knocked off the platform when we fought against Atomos with no way at all to get back up - who saves the day but Ifrit-Egi...though I dunno if that killed the Atomos, it was a funny story that my pet was the only one left on the platform until the other alliances finished off their adds.
Rabanastre struck again tonight... I hadn't done it at all this week while I was leveling my SMN, so I decided to switch back to RDM and finish off the last couple weekly things left to do. When it took three times for everyone to opt in when the queue popped, I already started to get a bad feeling... We actually wiped twice to Mateus when the other alliances kept struggling to kill their respective dragons and the Azer adds, which led to an insta-wipe each time.
Hashmal actually went down in one shot, for a mercy. We get to Rofocale, and for the first time on that boss I saw a wipe when he was charging his ultimate and everyone struggled to kill their Archaeodemons. Tanks kept rotating ours and pointing AoEs at me, almost half our alliance died at once to the AoEs and the boss's movements (I took a hit or two as well), and by the time I could take a moment to pop a Verraise, the boss's gauge filled aaaand wipe. When I got back to the boss room, some half-wit pulled the boss already and the room locked when we barely had enough people to form a single alliance. After that wipe, people started leaving one after another, and I had it. First time I ever left Rabanastre while it was in progress, but I just couldn't take it anymore...
The only time I died to a non-insta-wipe was during Hashmal when I, against my better judgement, tried to rez another alliance's healer, had to use Lucid Dreaming to get back mp to because I was already running low, only to get caught off guard by shockwaves while moving the cursor with the PS4 pad to target and die myself in the process. For my sanity's sake, I decided to call it a night and write off the gear piece, coin, and cluster for the week as a loss. Not worth it to go through that again tonight...
With regards to Rofocale's Ultimate if all alliances kill their adds on time, I notice that players will start running to the edges while he's still circling the arena. Which doesn't help if he charges straight from the edge that you happen to be on. I find that it's easier to just stack in the middle and wait until he finally stops circling, run out of the way of his charge to the edge he won't be coming for.
But man...that's heart-wrenching, one-shotting Hashmal only to have problems with Rofocale.
Short story.
Did an expert last night to cap my tomestones on SCH: Zoned in on Skalla, got paired with a DRG, a BRD and a DRK. Protocol greeting. So, the tank does big pulls, I love it as I can AoE DPS everything. I notice things dying a bit slow, as I check the DRG's TP and yeah... it's at full. It means no AoE at all. I tell them "Use AoE moves please, INSERTNAME". No answer. Next pull, same. They didn't do a single AoE move at all. The BRD on the other hand was going ham. Now I think this is disrespectful, leaving all the responsability to one single DPS. This is why I don't bother teaching or guiding players. They either plain ignore you or get defensive. I'm more than done with this community.
Since we're on a downtime patch-wise, I started playing XI for the first time with my friends. The community is a lot better, more helpful and funny. Specially on Reddit.
We've all heard the complaints Scholars have about Paladins self-healing enough to not let Excogitation go off.
But today, I found the Scholar, who him/herself didn't allow it to happen. Excog in every pull, didn't actually get to do any healing once, even on the big pull leading to the second boss in Skalla.

Did a trial roulette the other week and got Susano in progress. The sole tank who was in there was wearing a 58 axe and other assorted gear below level 60. (Susano is a level 63 instance). I asked if they had another, higher level axe and of course the answer was no... When I told them about the vendor gear the response was basically "I've been leveling this through potd and didn't even mean to queue for trials on this job."
We did get another tank who was fine with MT, fortunately.
I would really love to know why the ignore option is so common.I had something similar last night when I got loaded into Wanderers Palace (NM). Black Mage was AoEing like crazy and the Samurai wasn't. I asked him if he was familiar with this place and how fast it can be cleared if u AoE the mobs (several times) and he just ignored me. I often check to see if these players are on PS4 (and possibly don't have a keyboard inserted) but often they are on PC. Id actually rather have a some asshat get snippy rather than cold shouldered
