Not really a Randoms DF run so to speak, but I still think this is worth an entry:
Recently gained my mentor status and saw a sprout wanting to unsync Mog Extreme. We go in as a party of four: two DPS (me included) a tank and a healer. Now, I'm not entirely sure what transpired since we killed the smaller moogles but somehow the tank, healer and the assistant DPS (never did a gear check so wasn't sure on what people were using) are on the ground with King Mog at roughly 25% HP while I'm down to maybe 1/3 as Bard. Mog was charging up his ult but managed to burn him down less than a second before he finished his wipe cast.

I still question how the hell the rest of my party got bopped but we all shared a laugh and went on our merry ways.

Nevermind the fact that you actually sped up the dungeon a lot more then them cutting 3 seconds off the last fight. They just see it as "their move" and you ruined it. So laugh at these people, for they are very dumb.

I just ate a penalty from a run through Lost City of Amdapor that I just couldn’t stand any more. I was DRK, had a mentor SCH and two sprout SAMs in full Ironworks, matching names, and both wearing the <Gambler> title. First thing I noticed from this travesty was that the SAMs weren’t using even accidental AoE. We wiped before the first boss because one of them ran to lot the chests before killing the pack of mobs, so the mimic decided to eat the healer’s face when she took aggro. Cue obligatory “tank please pull all enemies” and my response of: “You do realize that the add was a mimic that doesn’t spawn until someone touches a chest, right?” The SAMs didn’t coordinate at all, and things died... slowly. We finally get to the second boss, and these two kill all the little ranch wamouras as they spawn, utterly ignoring the boss. I’m reasonably sure they were botted accounts by this point, and I left as soon as the boss finally died.

Gah. Had a Halatali (nm) run yesterday with a MRD tank who just couldn't hold aggro on more than one mob. I was the healer, and I spent more time healing the DPS than the tank - since they drew aggro so easily. When I wasn't healing myself that is - due to mobs of course running to me as soon as I used a healing skill. (Yes, I told him to use Overpower. He didn't as far as I could tell.)
On the Thunderclap Guivre boss people kept standing in the water - thus taking a lot of unnecessary damage.
On the final boss the tank ran in and pulled it, despite one of the DPS still standing outside watching the cutscene - leaving us one DPS short for the fight.

We did manage to make our way through that dungeon, but that doesn't mean much. I mean, it was Halatali - one of the easiest dungeons in the game.

That tank was probably the worst tank I have had the misfortune to encounter so far. I can only hope he will retain that record....

If they are new to the game and not familiar with the game yet, try to tell them about it kindly. It works for me. Then again that works better for the earliest dungeons.

In futur dungeons, I politely tell them to be careful, to wait, the first time. But if they continue I ask them to stop.

If they keep up, us tanks have a mantra like one user said : "You spank it, you tank it." It works for me and the guy usually calms down or ragequits.

But if there's a big drama going on, just because you want things to go smoothly like they are supposed to, it's best to quit the dungeon yourself and try again and see if you get better people.
Or to try with friends or with a free company.

It's all I can tell you from my personal experience. That shouldn't turn you off from tanking if you like it. IMO I find it quite fun.

You have my full support !

Had my first try at healing a dungeon on RDM last night.

I'm leveling an alt on Cactuar so I can eventually play with my friends there (hi guys! ) and level-jumped WHM while story-skipping ARR. Doing the HW story as RDM so I head into SB with a healer and a dps leveled.

Explainations aside... This healer was bad. My boyfriend was tanking to pop my queue and we got the Aery for leveling roulette. He double pulled packs and in the beginning of the first pack I was helping keep him up because the healer seemed to be having issues.

She died to the tether that she didn't pass during the first boss (quite early in the fight, first tether) so I kept myself, the tank and the new-to-the-dungeon DRG up during that fight. Periodically on pulls from then on I would have to throw a VerCure on my boyfriend because she would just be sitting there not casting or be so into her stone spam.

The real killer was on Nidhogg. She just wasn't healing me. I caught some Medica II ticks but other than that she seemed to almost actively avoid casting a heal on me while keeping the DRG topped off. Still iffy on the tank.

I wanted to shake her by the end. I main a healer, I know how low you can let a tank dip. If he's sub 1k and you're starting another Stone cast there is something wrong here. I've complained about cure-happy RDMs and PLDs before and I assume that was what she thought of me but it couldn't be helped she was not ready to heal that dungeon.

Also props to me, every time I dps and my boyfriend tanks I try to fight him for threat when it's safe, usually at the start of a fight. Pulled Niddy off of him with my melee combo once at the start and once at respawn.

No deaths apart from the healer too. Guess that means she was doing her job? Lol

Something about this sounds really familiar. I've sent you a request on Discord (coming from a Maple) because I'd rather not post it publicly.

I look at LB from the caster perspective, because thats what i bring into combat. In general, i try to be strategic about LB usage. That means the first or second time i run a dungeon im not likely to use it unless asked, but ill be looking at the various pulls in the dungeon. How many mobs? Do they have noticably more or less hp then you would expect? Do they hit harder or lighter then normal? Is this a pull that a future tank might try to link with what comes before or after, and how many more mobs would that be? Any of them especially dangerous? Does this boss/pull have an add phase(and is it dangerous or a joke)? And then finally, is this a safe time/place to summon rocks from the sky(the animation lock on the caster limit is ridiculously long)?

Once ive studied that, then i follow a couple simple rules for throwing out the caster limit. Use limit if: 1- an aoe pull goes bad but is still salvagable(maybe the healer dies but the tank is still up and we have a chance not to wipe if we can clear everything fast enough), 2- its possible to skip/shorten a boss phase with a well timed trigger(lava scorpion and hashmal are examples), 3- i will always consider limit for the largest pull of the dungeon(a massive aoe hit on a massive group is kinda a no brainer), and finally 4- there isnt a better time to use the limit coming up(if i know theres a better use in a minute, why waste it now?).

But with all that said, i dont get upset if someone uses it for me. And as long as i didnt make a mistake, then i dont listen if someone complains about my usage(if i goofed then ill listen to your complaints, feel bad for maybe a min, then get on with my day).

Healing just sucks you back in even when you try to get away, right?

No deaths and even casting stone, clearly a pro healer.
