    Just gonna let it be known that I don’t actually know what I’m doing about 90% of the time when I’m rolling melee jobs. So I apologize in advance to anyone who has to put up with me on any of the melee jobs. I’m sorry healers for standing in all the bad; I’m so not used to being this close up to the boss and having to deal with close proximity AOEs. ;_;

Running Skalla as a SAM (don’t know what possessed me to do that), and I’m just like “I don’t remember how to play this job because I haven’t touched it since August but YOLO, I guess.” Proceeded to then smash my controller buttons in some form of a SAM’s rotation, and still managed to get some comms out of it. Lol thank you, my party in Skalla for dealing with my subpar SAM-ness!

If it were simple lag from my own system, there are some fights where I can anticipate like the back of my hand, such as Ravana Ex. This week, it's not so good. I'll move out of a group of mobs while tanking, and into a Whm's asylum, but the mobs are still turned where I was, I'm still taking damage from them, and the asylum is going to waste as no one receives any ticks from it.

Did Alliance roulette for some tomes as drk a little while ago and got World of Darkness. Turns out most of my party was new to the raid so needed tips, but this wasn't apparent until Cerberus wiped us a couple times. Had a mentor healer in the party and waited to see if he had any advice for the newbies after I asked how many were completely new to this and sadly all he had to tell them was "get effin' better" (obviously edited). I hate to rag on mentors since I know the bad apples don't speak for the goods but jeez.
So I gave tips for the rest of the party and we did fine (incidentally the mentor let me die twice very slowly to raid-wide damage, maybe out of spite -.- )

Speaking of newbies and low level dungeons, I've picked up an alt (a ninja) few days ago, to have something to do. At some point it's also a bit of an experiment to see how people react to newbies who get the first timer message at the beginning of the dungeon and usually I at least got a decent hello. Rarely anybody waits at the last boss for the sprout watching 5-10 seconds long cs of the boss introduction though, which eh. If I see the closing messege pop, I skip, but still. If it's a long cs, naturally I don't watch (I'm looking at you, opening cs to Ifrit's fight).

What stuck to my memory though was a y-day Halatali run where I was the only sprout, other dps was a 60+ bard and 60+ ast as a healer. Our tank was a gladiator, though not a sprout anymore, pulling sporadically big and then small. He lost hate at the second boss to the bard (and few times for adds), but hey, the dps overgeared him, so it happens (not sure if there was diversion involved or no). What I didn't get though was when the tank suddenly said "noob party" in party chat, when basically it was him who messed up anyway (it wasn't much, but yeah) and nobody died or even got close to it. Nobody said anything, although I've wanted to comment, and we carried on.

It was the bard who did a welcoming emote at me when I got the mapping archievement at the last boss and he got my comm for that at least lol. In overal the run didn't made me feel much now, since I play for so long already, but if I were new, I'd probably be a kinda bummed about the tank's salty comment, since I don't even know who made the tank think that the most, if my sprout icon or the fact the bard took the aggro.

Once I entered Shisui of the Violet Tides with my twin sister (she's a tank and I'm healer).

The process is smooth until the final boss. My mom call me on the phone when she's out and I had to play with one hand to click every hotkeys I placed. Good thing that I used mouse and keyboard that I set hotbar 1 with F1, F2 to the end, set hotbar 2 with ctrl and hotbar 3 with shift.

The phone ended after Shisui boss released the shark twice and luckily no one died XD

Friendly reminder: Set your hotbar and keybind to your liking. You never know when it'll be useful

My friend needed to get through the Hard Primals to unlock Heavensward. This was about the DDOS attacks started getting ridiculous, so we were lagging. Our synced team kept lagging on the part you need to dodge - so on our fifth attempt, with me as healer, the tank and I decide to say it’s us or them. Focus solely on healing tank and not healing the rest, as they’ll die anyway, and we barely manage through. Titan kept trapping me in stone so when I knew he would cast it I would get as close to the tank as I could so I was easy to save. Tank would break me out, I would add my dots and throw a couple attacks in before again I’d be trapped. Barely, barely manage to finish it. We had the whole group cheering us on as we sweated it out! Made me feel like a total badass.

LOL! This actually happened more than once - the second time it was an unsynced party of 4. Our other two kept dying, so it was just my boyfriend and I as healer and tank carrying the rest.

Nothing like carrying your whole team to make you feel like you’re the Ultimate Weapon.

Your character name looks really familiar, I swear I was in a run with you quite recently but can’t remember what/when! I don’t think it was the WoD you mentioned but I did also pass through WoD a few hours ago that resulted in a wipe on Cerb, too.

Been seeing an influx of newer players recently, which isn’t a bad thing. But you’ll always run into those sorta people that’ll get impatient and salty. Good on you for taking the time to explain things for the new players, though!

...To contribute a bit to the thread, I recently-ish started maining RDM and I’m so guilty of throwing myself via Displacement into some bad situations. I’ve landed in countless AoEs, locked myself out of a boss room at least once and failingly tried to dodge avoidable damage—resulting in my untimely demise. This happened tonight during a Skalla run on the last boss; I tried to finish my melee combo and jump back to avoid that one pulsing AoE thingie he does, but nope. Overstayed my welcome and didn’t get out in time = RIP me.

Amdapor Keep. Me as PLD, a SCH, BLM and DRG.

I do 2 separate big pulls before the first wall. SCH/BLM are keeping up just fine. The DRG wasn’t using their AoE though, so I said

“*Name,* will you AoE in big pulls please?”

DRG “I’ve got one AoE that’s pretty garbage”

Me “Please? You shouldn’t be letting the BLM hardcore carry you” (probably could’ve worded that better...)

    DRG “gfurself

Never seen a vote kick pass so fast. Their character lingered in the dungeon for a few seconds after it said the vote passed. Got a NIN replacement that didn’t need any nudges at all to carry their own weight. Was still out of there in 14 minutes.

Decided to run a Mentor Roulette last night before bed, as RDM. Get into a Garuda EX with 2 other mentors(a tank and one of the other RDM). Non-mentor tank(WAR) decides to pull(no words had been exchanged prior to the pull). Everything is going fine, until Chirada and Suprana(sp?) spawn the WAR decided to tank both of them, along with Garuda. Even though the other mentor RDM had taken Supper(because I can never remember her name) to the far end away. This, obviously, caused a wipe due to not being able to DPS them down, and the rocks being destroyed. Second pull. Same thing. Third time we spawn in, WAR leaves, the AST/SCH(forget which they were, but remember they were a returning player) forgot to select yes to look for a replacement tank. We decide to just go for it with the 7 of us...one and done. That was a very good group once that other tank left(still no words had been exchanged until AFTER he had left).

I just got out of The Vault.
I'm leveling up my AST, which is also really only my first healer class (I have WHM but only to like 35). Went in with two members from my FC, a DRK and a SAM. We matched up with another SAM from Balmung. We were doing really well; I was doing really good with my heals and mana management. No one died.

    Until..

    The last boss.

And then we died at least five times. Just kept getting slammed with stuff that I couldn't Helios fast enough. AOEs and horses. It just sucked. We finally managed to clear it; my one SAM was dead, I was just barely clinging, DRK was in Undead and nearly dead, and the other SAM from Balmung LB'd the boss. And then my DRK died.

Even though it sucked and took us nearly the entire allowed time, the patience the other SAM showed was just so appreciated. Cyril from Balmung, you are awesome. Thank you so much!
