Alliance roulette. Dun Scaith.
The most salt-free run I've seen! Sure, we wiped to Batman once, and people were dying in general, but everybody was being nice and cracking jokes. What a nice Friday!![]()

Funny you should mention Sirensong and low ilvl gear. I got through the dungeon for the first time last night, though not in the first queue-in. First attempt the tank had a hard time keeping enmity (I popped my enmity-reduction OGCDs and was still be targeted by some of the jellyfish on the ship), and then tried two pulls when we got to shore. Healer apparently dc'd sometime during these pulls and we all wipe. Tank leaves, and according to the other DPS I was with they said that tank still had i120 gear equipped and probably shouldn't have been in the dungeon to begin with. We both left to requeue.
Second attempt was actually really fun. The other DPS had pretty much the same glamour as me, dyes and everything, and said I was looking good in the party chat, which made me laugh pretty hard. This time the team was so much better, and I don't think we had a single death the entire time. We all celebrated after beating the end boss, and I of course gave my comm to the other DPS because he was cool and the glamour coincidence was hilarious. Shame I wasn't able to get the friend invite to go through before he disappeared. Still, one of the more fun runs I've had so far.

Did Alliance Roulette early this morning to push my DRK to 70, and I got Weeping City. Ah, good old Weeping City.
All three tanks were DRKs, and one immediately decided to take on the MT role. Not a problem; I don't really care. I tanked my adds in Forgall and I tanked the Headstone (since I was in Alliance B) and just let him tank the rest.
Forgall' Megadeath managed to kill 3 people in our alliance. I was glad to see that some things never change. :3 (No newbies either, btw.) I died on Ozma because the one healer that bothered to keep me up during his auto-attacks died to orbs. Other healer I guess didn't realize, or didn't care, that Ozma still autos each alliance's tank. On Calofisteri, the MT lost aggro to my friend (who was on MNK), and so I turned on Grit and Provoked it off them since the MT apparently didn't even realize he'd lost hate. But then, he pipes up in Alliance chat:
"Why do you have Grit on?"
I responded with "Because you lost hate" and he stayed in Grit the rest of the fight. I don't have any issues with tanks dropping stance--please drop stance. But pay attention to your aggro. And don't get upset when another tank steps up to tank after you lost hate and let the boss nearly kill other Alliance members.
But at least Weeping City still doesn't disappoint in deaths and salt. No wipes to Forgall or Ozma though. Alas. ;p But, after my MSQ roulette, my DRK hit 70 so yay! Time to enjoy epic story after I get home from class! \o/

Doing Kugane the other day with this BLM. During the first pull he says he's going AFK. I wasn't really paying attention to chat and the tank pulls. Notice the mobs aren't dying that fast. With a Ninja and BLM, trash should melt. Look at the chat and go oh. Trash dies and the guy comes back. Second group at the bridge also doesn't die that fast. Then we get to the boss. Add shows up around when I use TA. Other DPS can handle it. TA falls off and the add is still alive. It's still at 89%. It's been 7 seconds, how did he only do 11 damage. I strap in and prepare for a slog. I think the tank realized it too. He started doing small pulls.
On the bright side, I got Skalla the next day with a beat of a RDM. And together we melted everything.
I feel like I have to vent this.
What should be my expectation of party members in Duty Finder? I get it. I can't control who I get. I get that it pulls from a large pool from good to bad players, but it's starting to get really frustrating to do anything that isn't a dps job. I just expect basics known is all, but the more I do these, specially leveling my alt that's a DRK, the more I'm noticing issues. Dps don't aoe. Dps don't click your target. Dps don't do mechanics. Why am I the only one killing any add in Shisui? Why is one of the dps refusing to kill the swords in Ala Mhigo? The most unique boss in a long time in Bardam's Mettle, I'm always alone in it because the other three go afk.
Why is it allowed? People complained here about how "difficult" the Shinryu fight was, yet I keep getting people in expert who have no idea what even basics are. Why can I meet people with full level 70 everything (INCLUDING Hand and Land) that have no idea what the words, "Kill the adds please" mean. Forbid I try to give advice too, because then I'm called an elitist and get harassed or, honestly more preferred, kicked.
You know what? I wouldn't even say it's ok for a new player on their first job, since the game literally hands you gear upgrades.Dear players going into Sirensong Sea with level 50-59 i110-i150 item level weapons.
You can buy a level 60 i255 weapon from an NPC in Castrum Oriens for a measly 36k gil that is immensely better than those even if it is NQ.
On my server for example you can even get an i255 HQ from marketboard for only 45k gil.
New player on their first job okay I get it, but the people I see doing this have multiple level 70 jobs. Seems to me you just don't care so don't be surprised if you get kicked since you obviously don't care about the rest of your party don't expect your party to care about you, that's just silly to expect at that point.
I would still try it Rymm but only if you have that SS of that tank asking you to leave. If you do, you could use the argument that right at the 5m mark, they booted and thus in addition to the previous remarks, it strongly suggests that they made use of the kicking loophole.
In addition, you could suggest the GM to look if those players immediately left the instance after kicking you, once again strongly suggesting it was not due to playstyle differences but abuse of feature.

This kind of thing is partially the game's fault. I am not sure why SE does not put a minimum item level restriction on those dungeons.
Good point, I just know some new players are a bit....odd due to simply not understanding things like item levels. I've had some where I have helped and they actually had a better weapon on them they just...idk didn't know it was better so I helped them out and they changed it. Also have had some newbies using weapons because they liked the look of it and didn't know about glamour or that weapon is very important in this game.
I haven't done a character through HW after SB was added so I am unaware of what gear the game gives you from main scenario so I just added new player as a slight exception.
