Hell I can't imagine eating any of the AoEs in O1S without shafting your party. Can you Holmgang Clamp? That's the only thing I can think of.

In other news, many, many props to the people making my SCH experience at 70 super enjoyable. Tanks haven't been doing the crazy bonkers wall-to-wall pulls, and if they do big pulls, they rotate cooldowns and DPS shred them down quickly. You're all amazing.

That guy was severely misinformed and I feel bad for his friend's healers.

Yesterday I loaded into a mentor roulette, 0 min in prog. It was Castrum Meridianum, two people were dead and the mobs were charging a dps at the entrance. I asked what the heck happened in 0 minutes?? All that chaos because one tank dropped... We ended up having a smooth run but it was clear both healers were new. Which didn't end up being a problem.

In general, if you main a job, that's what you're taking to 70 first. (Why would you call it your main if that's not what you take to 70 first??) I main Warrior. I played Warrior to 70 first in Stormblood. I leveled Paladin to 70 second because I raid and getting tanks to 70 was top priority. Those are the jobs I raid on and they had to be at max, and geared, by the time the new raid dropped. I am not by any stretch unique in this. This is a common practice with players who actually "main" a job.

Anyhow, it's a little weird that you're being so nitpicky that my experience contradicts yours when I explicitly said I can't speak for all tank mains.

I was referring to your phrasing. Like, make a better phrase for the next time and just giving you an example that your own words are contradicting you.

P.S I was not angry. Take it like a classmate that hear another student studying and/or trying to memorize a chart but is not using an efficient technique so one of them point it out and give the rrason why. Sorry if that make you think that is a bad attitude or that it piss me off lol

Yup. A little chain between you and the boss won't save you from a "7 malms (miles) per second knockback". (Which, by the way, is friggin' escape velocity :P)

Well I'm glad to see all the people calling tanking "hard" makes me feel a lot better about my failure to dps well while I merrily tank fine.

I don't find tanking 'hard' per se, but I can't utilize my DRK to the best of its abilities, whereas with healing, I'm learning that I work much better in that role. Insofar as the posting I made the other day, thanks for your comments. It really feels like whenever I'm healing, I tend to come across a bad tank whose job I do better...and if I switch to DPS, I find healers not able to do the basics of their job. It's a weird world we live in in Eorzea.

Yeah I mean I don't find most DPS classes "Hard" it's just that doing good dps with them especially in tougher content is very hard for me. In the same content I perform much better with tanks, even often outdoing the dps my dps classes did in the same content.

Leveling Dragoon right now and liking it so far. Maybe a melee dps class will end up different.

Ran Castrum Abania as tank. WHM for a healer. Not a single Regen nor Asylum were had for the duration. The RDM I brought with me had to keep me alive. I died to the bleed on the final boss because his Erase was on cooldown.

I just did an expert roulette with a friend and we got Temple of the Fist. We had this tank and dps that were some "couple" which seemed to like to argue. I've done the dungeons hundreds of times as healer with no issue and no KO's.

Tank turns off shield oath mid pulls for whatever reason. (Not to mention never used rampart of sentinel) DPS died at the final boss to the orange arrow because they were at the opposite end of the arena from the rest of the party but just stood there and didn't move at full hp. Then dies to it because everyone showed up a second too late because that is how the orange arrow stack mechanic works. Then the "couple" proceeds to accuse me of not healing of the entire run, which is utterly nonsense. Then said that the dps "couldn't" run during the orange arrow which is also nonsense. Gave me some line like "I've never ever died in this game, you suck as healer." Well clearly they just died to their own stupidity, and even benediction can't fix that. They tried to vote dismiss me but my friends vote prevented them from doing so.

They stood outside the final boss and just proceeded to argue with me and didn't want to just try again. Called me "mouthy" for trying to defend myself from their BS.

This is the first time in a long while anyone has tried arguing with me like this. It just reminds me why I try to not party with randoms because you sometimes end up with these kinds of people.

Had a MCH in Amdapor Keep use Blank (knockback) on a mob, which ended up pointing a huge conal AoE towards my path of escape. Asked her not to, and she told me it was "to move mobs at a tank's flank to their front" for better positioning.

... but I'm not a WAR, and I was positioning to grab the Void Call mob that spawns and usually tries to eat the healer's face. It made my job harder because she thought she was helping.

I get a lot of MCHs like these in roulettes, but that's the first time I've been told why they do it. But please, to all aspiring MCHs -- don't use Blank in dungeons.
