Very short story I had experienced last night.
Expert Roullette.
Grouped up with Bare-Foot Tank (Literally).
The End.
In Sirensong on my SCH (more or less full 270, don't worry, that wasn't me in the prior posts) with a DRK, SAM and SMN. Cool! A fellow Arcanist!
So. Not. Cool.
They were a premade and the DRK was a jump potion user. This was quite literally his first dungeon in FFXIV, or so he claimed. His DPS buddies had clearly spoken to him about pull size because he pulled like a tank who knew what they were doing.
During the double pull after hopping off the ship he doesn't have grit up. Aggro for everything is bouncing all over the place. At one point I use Indom and I swear it was not overheal at all. Everyone remains standing (somehow) but I decide to speak up.
Me: It's cool if you want to pull that big but would you mind using Grit for it? Eos and I would much appreciate it.
DRK: I thought it went okay. Sure tho.
Me: Thanks :3
We continue. He throws on Grit after the first boss which he kind of cotanked with the SAM. At this point I also start wondering about this SMN as I haven't had my vision obscured by Bahamut yet.
Since the tank is kind of tanking the trash now I check the SMN out. His gear sesms fine but his DPS rotation is literally like me on SCH... from 3.x. Dots, Bane, Ruin spam, repeat.
I am like suuuuuuper sure this isn't right but as I don't know enough to correctly explain a SMN rotation I don't want to say anything. When his Egi dies during the second boss and he doesn't resummon it even after the fight ends I finally can't hold it in
Me: Hey (SMN) Ifrit-Egi took a dirt nap back there. #ACNproblems, amirite?
(SMN resummons)
SMN: used to Eos healing herself.
So at this point I understand why the SMN's rotation looks like 3.x SCH. He is a SCH main. He just didn't want to heal his jump potion buddy's first run, likely assuming it would be a total dumpster fire which it is.
I resign myself to shutting up through the rest of it. If the SMN was on a class I knew I would give advice but at this point it's better to just keep moving. We get to the mini boss before the end and after the tank initiates I realize he probably doesn't know about stunning the seduce. I don't know if SAM has a stun. I type it into party chat just in time for the DRK to not stun it. Another Indom at 0% overheal.
It was just so tedious and annoying. I actually enjoy new players generally, lots of times they're chatty and open to advice. The DRK kept dropping grit at the worst times and it's only through luck and Eos that no one (but Ifrit-Egi) died.
After the final boss is down the DRK says to me "that was a lot of clutch healing. Just because no one died this time doesn't mean you dont need to be careful. You should try healing in WoW"
I. Freaking. Lose it.
My boyfriend is sitting on the couch behind me and takes out his headphones to listen to the obsceneties I'm yelling at the TV. These people hit every button I didn't even know I had.

Jeez.
I mean if you are obviously new and making tons of mistakes you shouldn't be trying to call someone else out :/
Just ignore it, they think they know how the game works but it isn't like WoW lol.
Just fyi though in Sirensong SMN won't have Bahamut yet though; you learn to summon him after the level 70 job quest. SMN rotation in there wouldn't be much different from 3.0 since at 62 SMN only learns a trait that gives random Ruin IV procs. Nothing else new yet.
Mind you though, she never notes the SMN using DWT or sighted a Ruin 3, meaning he likely didn't bother with anything in the SMN kit that actually makes it function as a DPS.
She quite literally carried a whole party of bads and her anger was 101% justified.
I never said it wasn't justified O.o
Moro is my friend ^^
I was just letting her know about bahamutz.
So if I have this right...
This edgelord bought a jump potion, then assumes he knows enough about the game to lecture the person who carried him through it?
And people wonder why I despise jump potion users. I still stand by the fact that I have never met a jumper that wasn't absolute trash.
I mean, let's take a look at the SCH I ran into in Vault a few days ago. Full ilvl 260, yet still manages to wipe us on a trash pull (the tank also sucked ass, did not help). Didn't know how to cleanse status debuffs, wiped us again on Charibert, and was generally a huge sack of useless throughout. I should probably be grateful that I was BRD instead of RDM for that run, because at least I wasn't expected to pick up their slack.

I actually just completed a bunch of SMN quests today to be able to better help in this situation in the future. The first thing I thought was "Oh geez, he didn't have bahamut! I'm an idiot!"Jeez.

The second thing I thought was "He did have Dreadwyrm Trance and Deathflare and did not use them, I am less of an idiot."
It's like you read my mind. I would have been at much lower salt levels if they had just been cool and chatty and open to advice.
I appreciate it! And being called your friend. Several of us from Aether keep lamenting that you are on a different data center than we are, I'd absolutely love to play with you! :3
You have it exactly right. I'm always happy that FFXIV is growing but it's encounters like this that make me take a step back and wonder. So if I have this right...

Your Vault party sounds like one I dropped into a week or so ago. I think I even posted about it on here. 51 mins in progress on SCH, party on the last boss. I run up and say on the way it's my first time on SCH in a while and they say "if you have your fairy out you're ahead of our last SCH"
The horror.
Yeah! I was thinking of making an alt just so I could play with you guys sometimes, but I been busy. Maybe I can do it eventually just so we can have some fun on Aether ^^
Nope, we didn't boot the SCH, much as we should have. The other DPS and I were good enough at burning down mobs that the SCH and tank both didn't have to work as hard as they would've otherwise. We did throw some snarky comments at them, though, because I don't feel the need to hold back on jump potion users who are actively ruining my enjoyment of the game that I paid for.Your Vault party sounds like one I dropped into a week or so ago. But speaking of paying for this game, every time I see a jump potion user, I can only think about the fact that they paid over $100 for the base game and its expansions, and then paid another $25-$50 to not play the game that they paid for. And while I don't have the right to judge someone else for what they spend on, I feel like paying more money to get less of a product that you paid money for, is just a little stupid.
