So I got in a group with a few FC mates to go do a roulette.
We grabbed 4 people, queued up, end up in the Lost City of Amdapour, and I looked at the list of players.
2 Black Mages, a White Mage, and a Summoner.
No tank, but thematically appropriate.
We decide to go for it anyway. The summoner breaks out Titan-egi to which I yell out "Go go potato-tank!"
After struggling through the first 2 packs, I suddenly remember that this is pre-HW content....which means SLEEP WORKS!
So I'm now leading, taking the point position as a Black Mage, marking targets and sleeping groups at a time and praying my mana ward is going to hold up long enough to live.
We ended up clearing the zone, even though none of us could remember a single mechanic in play and took 3 tries to figure out the Door thing with Diabolos.
Still, it was a LOT of fun and reminded me how much I love that darn Sleep spell.
I play FFXIV because I enjoy it.
Sometimes I have to remind myself of that simple fact.
Did you at the very least act as their second and provided them with the puzzle to aid in their honorable task of filling in each grind?
Had a SMN who wouldn't cast Miasma or any aetherflow actions to save his life. Also had something like 1800 HP as a level 50 wandering into Lost City of Amdapor. It was PAINFUL. He died to every bit of unavoidable damage, racked up poison stacks like he was saving them up, and wouldn't say a word when I lightly encouraged him to buck up and pay attention.
Poetic grinding is a pain, Cronus Lux will be worth it though...at least that's what I keep telling myself.
Healing Copperbell Hard Things go fine till last boss DPS ignores feeding the worm tanks health dropping faster than anything because the dps wont feed the worm or even aoe the adds inevitable wipe because I go oomp trying to keep up with the raid buster and the adds piling on the tank like hyenas after a steak. second time I'm the one feeding the worm dps is still tunnelling on boss and standing in the orange lights I stop healing the dps and keep the tank alive I dont bother wasting a res I dps and keep the tank up through it all boss goes down. DPS goes worst healer ever and leaves I still get a commendation.
In my opinion, it's better to have the healer dealing with the worm's food, so the DPS can kill the boss faster and/or take care of the adds. Usually this is a given, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask if there's someone wanting to take care of it. This way you avoid that confusing situation you had at first.Healing Copperbell Hard Things go fine till last boss DPS ignores feeding the worm tanks health dropping faster than anything because the dps wont feed the worm or even aoe the adds inevitable wipe because I go oomp trying to keep up with the raid buster and the adds piling on the tank like hyenas after a steak. second time I'm the one feeding the worm dps is still tunnelling on boss and standing in the orange lights I stop healing the dps and keep the tank alive I dont bother wasting a res I dps and keep the tank up through it all boss goes down. It's always a BLM but this excuse kills me lol
BLM is red and healer is green
I tried running expert roulette today. First big pull of Ala Mhigo and things are dying super slow. Notice the BLM is spamming F3. After the pull I ask why and says “I’m picking stuff off my bar shh” and I nope’d the hell out of there.
What does it mean by "picking stuff off my bar" though?
