It's sad to see so many people expect the healer to DPS AND Heal when all they can do as DPS or Tank is Tank enemies and DPS enemies. Leave the healer ALONE ya? They don't dps? Then hey got a good reason. I used to main SCH all the time till I got so tired of everyone ALWAYS criticizing the healer, even if we do our damn jobs as we should. Do your own job, they do theirs.

Sure I DPS'd in between sometimes but ONLY if it wouldn't be a waste of mana (aka very lvl synched) for heals and ONLY if I could spare the time to.

Lvl50 roulette, Qarn pops, party was me as blm, then smn, whm and drk. Cute drk says she just came back to the game and didn't remember much, forgot grit so I tanked the first pulls but all was good.

Then I started noticing the smn... As a healer main I have the habit of looking at ppl's icons on the party list and I see that this guy has no aetherstacks ever since we started. First I thought he forgot due to sync, he was level 52, but nope. Then I saw he only dotted one monster and only when close to 10%, all rest was ruin1 and not even spam. We kill the frist boss mainly because of myself and the whm and as we move on, I say in party chat "(name) you should use your aetherstacks" and got no answer. More pulls and same story. I'm still trying to understand the reasoning behind dotting a mob at around 10% hp but well, maybe he has a puppy on his lap. After Emperatriz the whm speaks up "lol still no atherflow?" and I respond "lol no", then on the following pull the smn uses aetherflow and instantly burns it, but no bane or anything, there were no dots on the group. He then goes "I only use aetherflow on bosses", lies, but w/e. I say "your damage is based on your dots and stacks" and the whm explains the importance of aetherflow and dots but the smn didn't say anything more. I added "you're level 52..." thinking he should know that by now, it wasn't an issue of "you don't play like I want you to" but more about not understanding how the job works. No wonder I was always tanking. I tried to help the tank by quelling and have my shields up and the whm was making up for the smn with holy and nukes but things jsut didn't seem to want to die XD. Last boss and the smn kept dying; after the third raise from the whm I was gonna say "just leave him dead and dps instead" but meh, he should know. Not like that smn was interested in learning and/or improving anyways.
I think I have never seen a worse smn and it hurt, even though I only play smn as alternative to heals as of HW.

This is where you should have vote kicked the smn as his performance and playstyle is a detriment to the group

I personally think it's sad to see healers topping me off when I'm at 90%+ and then jumping in circles (or even doing dance emotes, seriously) till I take damage from another autoattack that they can top me off from. Even worse is when a SCH is just standing there doing nothing while their fairy autoheals me. Most of these kind of people don't even use the fairy buffs and I seriously have to wonder if they're actually at the keyboard or if they're tabbing out and watching Netflix. I'll gladly watch my HP drop into the 25-30% range if the healer wants to throw some deeps out so we can toodle on through the dungeon a few minutes faster. You'd be really surprised at how much a difference healer DPS can make, especially if the two DPS aren't the best geared. A well geared SCH can absolutely destroy trash mobs with very little effort and minimum danger to the tank if you're using your skills correctly.

Dunno, I go into a dungeon to put my best foot forward. My SCH lives in cleric stance. Mana shouldn't ever be a worry for a SCH. They have the best mana management tools in the game aside from BLM, which is set up to have infinite mana anyway.

Tanks DPS automatically while tanking. While they can do things to boost their DPS, even when in full on tank stance, they still DPS as part of their job. And tanks can't be expected to heal because besides PLD, they possess no healing skills for other players. And I do actually see PLDs use their heals sometimes.

DPS, same story. I've seen DPS off tank before, it's a legitimate strategy for some fights. And again, besides the extremely obsolete BLM/SMN physick spam, DPS cannot heal other players.

Healers possess notable DPS potential while tanks and DPS do not possess notable healing potential with the exception of PLD's Clemency, which is often used, so why should we not encourage them to DPS when they're otherwise doing nothing?

That being said, I've been running into lots of healers who don't know how to balance DPSing and healing and ultimately do neither effectively, so if you can't do it, please just heal.

I was once tanking in the first HW dungeon. Then, I saw that all my teamates were male Lalafel...

Nuff said.

But seriously, I just found it funny and went a bit RP with them for fun, like ''I have so many child 0_0'' Funny part is that they all went along and we had a blast. At the end boss,I remember I said something going like this: "You remember when your mom died?..... He did it" The boss got destroyed that time.

At Neverreap both the BLM and the DRG had a dex ring. The didn't come together. The BLM had his by accident, he didn't notice until I mentioned it and then changed to the right one. The DRG had turned in or trashed her old ring by accident while making space for crafting stuff and was using the dex one until she could get the Alex normal ring.

...What are the chances of all this happening? XD

Oh I can top that, I'd just recently upgraded my gathering ring and my casting ring, was on SMN in the Aery, and the tank asked if the Dragonskin ring was doing great things for my INT.

I blushed, equipped the right ring, and thanked them for noticing.

Got a speed running huge pull tanker on ex roullete Phaos. Thankfully I'm able to keep up but I feel bad for healers that arent used to it/arent expecting it without some indication a huge pull is about to be done.
Pally says very little throughout the dungeon but spending 20+ minutes with someone you start to be able to tell what kind of person they are, especially when they pull bosses before everyone is actually at the gate.
Before final trash pull a BLM is afk for a few seconds in previous room. Pally "It'd be great if people could stop alt tabbing"
Yeah definitely the touchy sort.
I keep him alive until end of final trash huge pull. I immediately say "bio brb super quick". I get back less than a minute later to see he's reponded with "Fine I'm going to go clean my bathroom"
He's legit afkd to clean his bathroom before final boss. We wait for 3 minutes in case he's being a dick. Kicked him, got a new tank less than 2 minutes later.
NGL kicking a dick before final boss is great. He was so impatient and touchy he ended up not getting his daily that run B]

A1 spam. Went as my DRK knight.

I asked the DRK if he'd like me to supertank or if he wanted to for Faust. He offered to tank.

The fight starts, I'm out of stance, and he's tanking faust. So far so good. The first add spawns - and I see it's hitting our WHM maliciously. Might just be a slow pickup, the WHM had moved it into position to be picked up.

He didn't pick it up.

by the time second add came out, I had popped Grit and started picking it up with Unleash. When I asked him why he wasn't picking them up, he simply said "Oh you want me to do both our jobs? No thanks, I get enough of that in real life."

Are people really this ****ing stupid?

Did you actually explain to him what you meant by "supertank"? Or did you just call it "supertank" and expect him to know what you mean?

Maybe I am out of the loop but I read through your story here and didn't realize till the end what you meant by "supertank" since I've never heard this term before in this game or any others I've played.

So I guess I also fall into your category of stupid people? :/ I don't know about this; I don't think you can expect everyone to know all MMO terms. (I've been playing MMO's a long time and didn't know "supertank")

His reaction was rude but it is kind of unfair to call people stupid for not knowing/understanding a specific term they might have never heard before. You should try to be a bit more understanding.

If you did actually fully explain what you meant and not just called it "supertank" and he did that response he is just trolling you I guess
