Another story that I just remembered:
Tanking Doma Castle as DRK; don't remember DPS, but our healer was an AST. I believe she okayed bigger pulls, so I was doing the standard 2-pull groups you'd expect for a 68+ group. Right before the second boss, though, there's a big pull you can do where you gather a group of soldiers around fortifications (the ones that shoot those big line AoEs), and drag them into the next group set up the same way. It can be dicey with how you can easily LoS the healer, but up until that point, the AST had been doing great.
And then we wipe.
No big deal; I just say I'll pull smaller for that section. Everybody's really chill with it, even the healer -- but she goes on to say that AST isn't capable of those kind of pulls. They get weak shields and regens, and not much else, as she put it. She sort of implied such a pull would only be possible with a WHM, who has more emergency CDs.
... except as an AST main, I heal that pull almost every time I'm in Doma Castle. It's hard, but not impossible. Nobody got mad or anything of the sort, but I'm pretty sure this AST misconstrued her own unfamiliarity with the job as it being bad. Kind of reminded me of a lot of forum discussions, actually...
