Hold on... AoE on the serpent adds? Has it been too long since I've been in the story mode version, and am thus thinking of expert, but don't the serpents get damage stacks when they stand too close?During the adds part, I pop diversion, and me and a fellow SAM go to work. Sort of. I was the only one of us using my AOE rotations - they were committed to single target damage. Not a big deal here. But we've all been through Bismarck synced. You know it can take some time to kill the adds. So when a tank dies to a serpent, I do my thing.
Still, pretty crummy behaviour from the healers you got. :/

No, the other adds - the Vanu Vanus that pop in before and after the serpents. Serpents are single-damage, of course, but yes, they also get a buff if they are close. Even if they were, I wouldn't AOE the serpents because that just doesn't make sense to me with two enemies.
Ah, my bad. From the ordering of things explained ("we break the shell... no AoE on the adds... tank dies to a serpent"), I thought you were referring to AoEing the serpents (as there are no other adds between the shell and the serpents). Now it all makes more sense. No, the other adds - the Vanu Vanus that pop in before and after the serpents. Serpents are single-damage, of course, but yes, they also get a buff if they are close. Even if they were, I wouldn't AOE the serpents because that just doesn't make sense to me with two enemies.
Edit: Side note, I just tried doing a bit of math for comparing SAM single target to 2-target. First round I forgot to count Oka & Mangetsu combo potencies, so I thought "ok single-target wins hands down". Then I realized my mistake, and did it again. This time I forgot Shifu, Jinpu & Yukikaze bonuses, so AoE came out on top. Then I started factoring those in, and now I think single-target is better in the long run again. But now I no longer trust myself to do these calculations properly. >.< Good thing I study history and not... nuclear technology or something.

I don't know why Lakshmi in trial roulette is always such a hot mess. Every single time, someone gets the stack marker, no one stacks, then the person with the stack proceeds to skip towards me, a healer, who is clearly standing alone. This time though, the person with the stack was the other healer. I Divine Benisoned myself out of panic but that wasn't enough unfortunately...
It's fine though. I don't frustrate too easily, but I don't get how people can forget the stack mechanic. Even if you jump potioned to Stormblood, you had some previous dungeons and one other trial to learn it, and it's one of the biggest, most obvious markers in the game.
I decided to dust off SCH because Creation is capped for the week and with the changes coming in 4.1 it seems like I might want to pick it up again.
I see healer in need for leveling so think I might as well take advantage of it.
It's the vault in progress at 51 minutes. I honestly don't know why I clicked it, the group had to be awful right? As I load in I ask them how it's going and let them know it's my first time on SCH in a while so be gentle. They're already waiting at the last boss, no real surprise there.
One DPS respinds with something along the lines of "if you have your fairy out you'll be ahead of our last SCH"... Oh, wow, so it's like that.
We breeze through it all with virtually no issue. It seemed a tiny bit slow to me but I was used to doing it on WHM so it could have just been my lack of personal DPS. Damage is going out quickly but I'm keeping up and everyone is more or less on top of the chains mechanic.
After we clear (with no deaths! Yay!) they tell me about their horror stories of the no fairy SCH and also apparently a WHM who burned swiftcast on a regular Cure.
Guys, there are some bad healers out there. I think it's easy for a healer main to forget about because you don't see them as often but they exist.
Scary.
I wish I could have comm'd all of you!
I got synced into Toto-Rak on MCH the other day via Leveling DR and it almost makes me want to never use leveling DR ever again. lol.
Outside of Cross Roles - MCH only has 8 abilities in this instance. Only four of them do damage.
- Split Shot - 160 Potency which RNG procs into Slug Shot
- Slug Shot - 200 potency when RNG combo'd from Split Shot
- Heartbreaker - 240 Potency only available when target is below 20% HP
- Spread Shot - 80 potency conal AoE
So essentially I'm just slamming 1 until I proc (or have Reload / Quick Reload up) and slamming AoE when 3+ targets hit (which isn't often in Toto-Rak). Occasion execute-style ability when HP is appropriate.
BLAAAAAAARG *Dies somewhere random*

Yeah that happened to me today...even got a premade group with people who bought crafted items with no materia melded and no idea how to do the fight for O1S. I did 1 pull, got to ice everyone but me slid off and I just did a /sit, waited to die then left, was so amusing that it ended just like that LOL.
