I have another awesome DF story. I think Primal is the best Data Center.

I queue for Sohm Al. I'm still "new" and working my way through HW MSQ. It's my first time. I get a BLM a DRG and a PLD...I think if I remember correctly. I immediately say "Hello everyone. First time here!" just to let everyone know.

I get no greetings back, instead the PLD proceeds to pull half of everything between the beginning and the first boss. Whoa-a! So I quickly cast adlo and shielding stuff, but the tank and the DPS are burning everything down super fast. Tank is obviously experienced and by the end I was actually able to bane out some debuffs. That's basically how the trash went the whole dungeon - two giant pulls between each boss.

The Tank is more like a freight train and I don't think he ever stopped running. He wouldn't even stop to pick up chests, he was picking them up as he ran past them. I have no idea when he rolled for loot: I think he must have ran and rolled at the same time. DPS would have to run to pick up the chests off the past because he was not stopping! Many times I would have to sprint to catch up because after a pull he would start running forward while I was still at range. I also REALLY had to watch my MP because I would use a lot each pull and there was basically no recovery time. First time I've really had to do that as a SCH - very fun and challenging.

The bosses were all incredibly fast and easy. I managed to not screw up any of the mechanics. Nobody ever died, there were no wipes, it was basically the most intense speed run I've ever been in, let alone for a dungeon first clear.

After the final boss I was like, "OMG guys that was the best ever. Thank you so much for the party!" But by the time I'm out of the cutscene the tank is already gone. The DPS roll loot and then poof. Nobody said anything at all! But, that's okay for me. As long as I made the run easy for them it's all good.

I did get two comms, so there's that! I don't think the Tank stayed long enough to comm anyone. lol

Crazy! So that's what people mean when they talk about "speed run"s. When I left the instance I had 13 minutes left on my protect. O.o

I was in Sastasha and we had a newbie archer who was a Japanese speaker. She pulled aggro, ran ahead of the tank and ddn't hit targets as marked. Tank didn't say anything at this point, so me and the other dps were explaining to her how to play in a squad setting. Things improved a little until up to the point just before you unlock the room to the captain's chambers. Tank pulled, archer attacked, and instantly, the target changes to the archer. Tank sat down at this point and said something along the lines of " To hell with this, I'm gonna sit here and let her tank everything." Even though the mobs were killed, he just sat there refusing to move, cussing the newbie out with choice words best not repeated here. TLR, he refused to accept the archer's apology, insisted on throwing a tantrum, saying we disrespected him as a tank and "ya'all can go find yourself another tank!". After a few minutes of trying to convince him to just let it go, we did just that. And to top it off, I found out much to my dismay that he was also from the same server as I was, as I got a rude PM from him when I got out, to "learn how to play your healer, nub".

Another instance, in Garuda Ex. Tank told everyone to ignore mechanics and just DPS. Whenever we followed the mechanics, he'd scream at us, saying "I've never seen such a huge group of pussies in my life!" Not surprisingly, we wiped, which lead to another round of cussing, snide remarks about our capabilities to run DFs, and "please vote dismiss me". I still remember the tank's name to this day because he was just so bloody rude, and so badly geared to even run GEx to begin with.

I think it might actually be a good thing! Now you can blacklist him and you never have to worry about ending up in his Party Finder groups or hearing him in /shout /say or /yell. c:

Just qued up for the Expert Roulette as a SCH. Got in to Pharos Sirius Hard with a WAR and two SMNs. I'm instantly a bit cautious because I've had more than my share of trouble with WARs in the past while healing. I had no idea what I was in for.....

Right off the bat, I put protect and stoneskin on everyone, and then the warrior proceeds to pull almost every enemy prior to the first boss and we wipe because I simply can't put out as much healing as they're taking in damage. We wipe and come back and they start taking it at a normal pace and we don't have any more trouble. Until the first boss. The two SMNs would link the enemies like you're supposed to, but when the adds spawned I suddenly found myself tanking them as a SCH because the tank wouldn't grab them and the SMNs wouldn't attack them. Not TOO unmanageable but still a pain....

The dungeon went fine from there. Until, you guessed it, the next boss. The SMNs once again wouldn't attack the Slime adds when they spawned, nor, obviously, make any attempt to plug the gas leaks with them. This lead to damage accumulating quickly, particularly so when the slimes started to explode. To make matters worse, they weren't attacking the kobold adds either, so it was a constant effort to dodge the bomb AoEs, while spamming every healing technique I had just to keep us alive. We somehow got through that one with no casualties, but it was close at times.....

Then we proceeded through the last third of the dungeon with little issue on the trash until we got to the bomb incubators. With the way the run had been going, I marked all three with "1","2","3" marks to indicate that they should attack them. The SMNs proceeded to ignore these marks of course, as any dutiful DPS player would do, and the only incubator that died was the one I had marked with a three that got caught by the edge of their AoE attacks. Cue adds spawning from the walls, combined with tank not making an attempt to pick up said adds, combined with bombs from the two undestroyed incubators, (I had harmed one slightly in between healing the tank, but not managed to kill it), and you add all that together to make a very unhappy healer.....

AFTER THAT, we managed to make it to the final boss itself, which was a cake walk after the rest of the run, despite the fact that the SMNs wouldn't attack the Grey Bombs until they were almost exploding, (and would have if I hadn't of been pure DPSing them to get their health low before hand). We ALMOST wiped during the second phase because they made no attempt to keep the Remedy Bombs from the Grey Bombs, but I managed to keep one from detonating and was able to use all my cooldowns to prevent a wipe there.....

Long story short, no commendations were given to my party for that run.....

Oh I did haha. And he riled me up so much, I complained to his FC leader. All I know was, he was kicked out for being an asshat.

I've been noticing a trend of players who don't care for mechanics or make cursory attempts to follow them. Is there a memo somewhere that I've missed? :\

Ran Alex 4 so many times between today and yesterday I lost count. Between my awful rolls (still don't have the last two shafts I need) and the HORRIBLE people, Im just so sick of it. People don't care about mechanics, I'm not sure if it's cuz they've never played an mmo in their life but you really stick out like a sore thumb if you don't do mechanics right on that one. Not to mention when you get the new person message but no one says they're new, and it becomes really obvious because they mess up the first mechanic and either run away from balls or run them into people. Most of the time these don't devolve into people throwing smack bUT they usually do get vote abandoned and I always click yes, even 2 wipes is bs in this place anymore. If you're new I cut slack but gotta say something otherwise I assume it's just your other character or something.

On the other hand, does anyone almost wish they'd get an asshole in low level dungeons for some entertainment purposes? Been leveling a few classes simultaneoisly, and my runs are just so boring haha.

Made it to the first boss where we had no wipes, but I also ended up tanking every single add.

On the way to the second boss we wiped again because both the monk and the tank wouldn't get out of the aoe of the iron giant type mobs, and Synastry doesn't last forever. Made it to the second boss, and again, I was tanking the adds and did not have the time to kill them over the holes.

Wiped once, went back. Monk and tank continue to ignore adds but the blm finally decides to help. Beat that boss.

I don't think there was any more trash wipes. Last boss, we wiped because I could only keep one remedy bomb away from the grey bombs while also healing the tank and the monk. And no one else got the second one. So boom, wipe. We go back and almost the same thing happens.

I kept trying to politely type out how to handle the mechanics after each wipe, but the tank kept pulling and there was no way I would be able to type it while doing all of that.

Gem of the day, was leveling my LNC at Halatali Normal and got a tank who doesn't even flash on pull or hold/snap aggro. Starts rambling after the first pull cause no one was attacking his "target" (but did not even mark anything to begin with, so in short he was expecting us to play target-of-target with him the whole run).
Got to the 2nd mob and he loses aggro on the other trash to the healer cause we attacked his target this time, tries to regain aggro on the stray NPC but loses aggro on his primary target right away.

In the simplest manner, I told him that if he's going to be a tank he will have to put some effort into regulating enmity. Got to the third mob and had to wait for him cause he was moving so slow that Stephen Hawking looked like The Flash in comparison, but instead of pulling he just starred at space. The other DPS got tired of him and voted him out.

    Subversion time!

So I am a long time console peasant who only very recently switched to keyboard/mouse after 25 years of gaming with a controller. Gotta say, that adjustment is downright awkward. I am so accustom to griping something in my hand it just felt strange. Anywho, I did a fair bit of practicing on dummies before attempting Ramuh HM to finally carry on with the story. It did not go very well. Mostly because on my controller I relied heavily on lock-on targeting/target canceling, which I hadn't set up easily on my mouse. So I couldn't properly dodge AoEs at all, which was just depressing ;; But not only was the PuG group extreme chill, when I apologized for my crappy DPS (I had previously mentioned this was my first trial on keyboard/mouse), one was very encouraging. She lied, because there's no way my DPS was good, but I appreciated it all the same, xD.

I even got a couple recommendations.

That certainly made me feel better after a horrible run. Rare moment where a PuG was awesome.
