I have a story that happened a couple of days ago.
So, I go into O4 and got a party with some people who's classes escape me at the moment, and a BLM. We start the fight and managed to take the boss all the way down to 42%ish health. Then, EVERYTHING that could go wrong, did. Both the MT and the OT got punted off the arena due to the OT being behind the boss and the OT being at JUST the right spot at his side while the boss was using his Raid-wide push AOE, one of the Healer DC's, and 2 DPS get pushed into some Black-holes and die. It was just me, a SAM at the time, the BLM, and I believe a AST left who did the mechanics correctly, and we didn't have enough LB for the Healer to use LB 3. We proceed to die, and before we could try and wait for the DC'd Healer to come back so we could try again, everyone but me and the BLM leave. Thankfully, we were able to get a full party again and proceed to destroy the boss without much issues.

Guys I have a confession, I got annoyed by people who are "less competent" than the average player base and on rare occasion even becoming toxic.
Well, on my defense, this is because if they are not doing their job's role competently, it takes longer for a dungeon to complete and holy f , i don't have all the time in the world to play the game. The "do more work because the other useless" was actually fine for me. I like being a carry
There was this one time when I was in DR Main Scenario and there was a new player and i had to go to work in 30 minutes. I thought, no problem, DR Main should be done in 20 minutes average. The queue popped immediately (I was with a healer friend). We got in to the last boss fight and as you might have guessed, the new guy don't skip the cutscenes. I mean that's fine, but then apparently the tanks wanted to wait for the new guy. I asked them kindly to pull without the new guy, he refused. Okay, by this time I was praying that I would have enough time. OH BOY, cutscenes are very long in that dungeon. I basically had 5-10 minutes left when we reached ultima thanks to all the waiting. If the tanks refused to pull, I would pull it. Normal tanks would try to grab the agro, but these guys just run around and even ask the others to just dodge and run around with them without doing anything. Oh boy, it's on. Me and my friend basically 2-manned the Ultima first phase and guess what? I got kicked soon after that. Maybe it was my fault? But I was desperate to finish it T^T.
Well, i have 2 horror stories to share. Both happened today one after another.
The first one happened in Snowcloak, the healer was the laziest one i have seen since the start of ARR. He was an Astrologian, everything seemed fine, he was using the cards and healing until i noticed a certain pattern in his spells... In short, he was using Essential Dignity as if it was the only cure aviable, guess when did i notice? When i had to use potions to heal myself up because he just wanted to keep staring as us. I swear, he did not use any other spell -healing OR offensive one-. Nobody died, but even in a thought time with Fenrir when the ninja got hit pretty hard he refused to do anything else. He just awaited until he could cast Essential dignity again.
The second one was in Stone Vigil (Hard).
Now, i have said this more than once. I am happy to help new people, giving tips, explaining... I dont care if the run takes 10 more minutes to complete. In this case it was a Red Mage at level 52. At first i was not aware of it as i was bussy taking hits from the mobs, but then i noticed a strange pattern in the casting of the RDM. He was mostly standing still, then he would start casting Veraero/Verthunder to initiate his combo... Except there was no spell afterwards. The only time i saw him using it was with Scatter. He used his melee combo, yeah, even withouth black/white mana to share on it. I was just like "the hell?", so i stopped a bit and asked him if he wanted information about the class. He answered "Yes" to me, so i proceeded to explain it... Until he tells me he does not know how to speak english, only german. Now, because i wanted to be helpful i proceeded to use a traslator to tell him all i was typing at the moment. He answered later that he was new to the game, he was sorry... He had Summoner to 70, so i thought "Maybe he just needs time to adjust". Well, when everything was explained and seemed in order we proceeded to the turtle boss with the cannons. He made the same mistakes all over again and did not touch Jolt for anything, i only saw one verfire in the whole run, but the worst came at that boss. He just attacked with his weapon, we explained to him to use the cannos but he just stood there.
We died.
The healer left, and we proceeded to dismiss him from duty.
I still think it was someone trolling us...

I had this in Gubal Library of all things. I queued as PLD, and we can't get past the first boss, BLM keeps dying to mechanics, healer only queued as such and doesn't really know how to heal this content, and the other DPS was a sprout IIRC. Three attempts, three times I'm the only one getting past the first wave of the book. After the third time, Vote abandon.
To note, the healer kept casting Medica II on trash, that was a sign to me that this was going to be bad. Trash is not a raid fight, especially not 3 enemies at a time.
I re-queue the roulette again as PLD, and this time get three mentors. It goes fine, albeit not super-fast.
I think this is the first time I had an altogether weird run.
I queued up to my leveling roulette with my AST and got Doma Castle. We had a BRD, a NIN and a DRK.
I then noticed that the DRK was trying to do the famous 1st room pull loosing pretty much all her health before she could even get to the place. We wiped once, I couldn't help but blame myself for that because I was healing and I thought I wasn't being good enough to keep her safe and sound.
Next big pull: BRD got aggro after a couple of AoEs and died, everything went downhill from that and another wipe.
We also had a bit of trouble during the first boss, and during the second pull after the boss she tried another big one. BRD used Palisade to help the tank a bit and ended up getting aggro. The DRK then stopped and the BRD was getting killed. I healed her up, but then I had the aggro on the mobs. NIN and BRD tried to help, everybody had aggro on the mobs but the DRK that wasn't moving at all, and after the third wipe she said: "You know, I follow a policy that you pull it, you tank it."
Everybody was like "What???????".
Then I decided to examine her to see what was going on, and she was running Doma Castle with the Shisui set on the left and full strenght 270 Heavensward accessories on the right.
I know some tanks are doing that right side with strenght right now for whatever reason, but if it's for aggro keeping... It was just a BRD and a NIN.
At some point me and other dps just gave up, I told them I would set up a party finder to make up for the wasted time and then they both joined me again for another run that went incredibly smooth, with another DRK, and a very polite one.
So lemme get this straight. Bard gets aggro on untagged enemies by putting Palisade on the tank. Tank whines at him for it? Really? Wow. A tank that doesn't understand why they lose aggro when they do has no right to be a tank, much less use STR gear on one even if it is better.
Anyway here's my DF story.
I wouldn't be as fazed by this if the adventurer in need wasn't tank.
I was finishing up SAM to 60 so I could get into Stormblood content (though that's on hold until my new headphones arrive, since my last pair just broke sigh). Gubal Library normal.
50 minute run because of a new SCH and BLM. we wiped on the demon book the first time it did its main mechanic since they both died to it, and it was then that they decided to admit they were new (which is my personal pet peeve). Still, I explained what to do, and we proceeded to plod through the dungeon. Another wipe on trash leading up to the second boss because the tank accidentally pulled a second group, and a final wipe on the last boss because the healer stood in one of the ring AoEs from the boss with 2 vuln up stacks and got 1 shot.
We did get through it in the end, and the new people did listen. But we could have saved a good chunk of time if they'd said something in the first place. Please don't be afraid to speak up if you're new and don't know the mechanics, because people will be much more likely be helpful if you say something before you cause the group to wipe due to a lack of knowledge. Most of us don't bite.![]()
