Something that made me bit upset about the new retainer event

I liked how SE handled Event for FFXIV inside AND outside of the game.(Like Hair contest) I did my best to follow, commission and vote.
As i tried to log in today i saw this "exciting" new event about Retainers.

I was planning to make a little series and continue The Adventures of My Retainer. Now I've lost my drive to do that. It might not be a grand idea but i had a lot fun making the first one and i wish some credit would've been given.That is all.

You've got a nice little lead in an idea for the contest. Very nice!
But I can't say the idea hasn't been done before. Everyone and their grandgob has joked about their retainers ransacking homes.

I have to agree with others here, while it is good you got a head start in producing your own...there is zero reason why SE should give you credit for a concept that has existed long before you created yours. Especially since you have no evidence SE were directly inspired to make use of this very old concept from seeing your interpretation of it.

Without sounding rude, it wasn't exactly an original idea. My FC and I would make our own little stories up about retainers stealing furniture a long time ago and I'm sure many other people have done the same thing. I also highly doubt SE saw your Reddit post and decided to make a competition out of it. Just go ahead and enter the contest, good luck

About a year or so ago, I remember this post about retainer ventures from Camate that kind of describes the same thing you're talking about:

So when your retainer brings back that Minute Mindflayer, its origin can be a story all your own. Perhaps it was carefully crafted in your retainers' spare time, or maybe they found it abandoned in an alley and seized the opportunity. We hope players will enjoy creating back stories for the items found by their retainers.

As an aside, my retainer doesn't like to bring me anything of worth these days since I accidentally rejected her beautiful gift awhile ago...

They even added dialog text to one of the Au Ra females who basically admits she's mugging people and robbing houses. "Hehehe, didn't expect him to put up such a fi- OH! What can I do for you?" "I got it! I'll rob the - er, I mean, I'll d what you said."

Yeh, it's a bit like saying you wrote a book so why is everyone who writes a book not dedicating theirs to you. But the reality is you did not invent the concept of books, you just wrote one like many other people have done. Just put your version in the competition and good luck with it. There has been many retainer stories and comics like the following if google them which predate the one you did.
