This is more difficult to pin down. Since I know the other person is role playing, its hard to be frustrated by what their character does, particularly when I'm so distracted thinking of how my character would react. The things that really frustrate me are more about how people role play rather than what they do while they're role playing.

Oh boy, as a Balmungian I've seen some shit:

-Disregard of lore
-Non-padjal WHM (wat's wrong with being the greatest conjurer ever?)
-Fantasia RP (lel i used to b a roe dude but i spilled a potion on myself and am now a hawt catgirl)
-Lalafell ERP
-The Quicksand is basically Goldshire (for those of you that have never touched WoW, think of the nastiest bar you can and add wall-to-wall hookers into the mix)
-People who RP Au Ra as dragons
-RP as major NPCs
-RP as major dead NPCs
-RP as primals
-RP as ascians
-RP as non-universe creatures (vampires, werewolves, angels, etc.)
-RP as void-possessed/pregnant with voidspawn
-People that make a Borlaaq solely for the purpose of lesbian ERP
-ALA MHIGAN PRIDE!!!!! I CAN'T PUT A SHIRT ON OR STOP OILING MYSELF UP TO WRESTLE OTHER HIGHLANDERS IN A BLATANTLY HOMOEROTIC DISPLAY OF STRENGTH (no homo tho... i liek 2 bang catgirls)

The list could go on much more but my ultimate pet peeve is roleplayers that try to focus the attention on their character by being kidnapped/imprisoned/possessed for the 3246th time and demand that an entire LS or FC drop what they're doing to rescue their dumb ass again and again and again and again...

Then they throw a huge tantrum when people don't bother because they're tired of drama queen's self-centered behavior.

All of the above is common behavior, but in spite of all the terrible things Balmung RP has to offer, there are plenty of respectful and respectable roleplayers. You just have to look a little harder to find them.

There is exactly one Miqo'te NPC in Ishgard, and she is a member of the Ironworks and probably a foreigner.

He has not received his reward for winning the bet yet.

ESRB ratings do not equal Terms of Service regarding online interactions that do not fall within the purview of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. The game itself may be "for players aged 13 and older" (as per the Child Online Protection Act, or COPA), but can be rated "Teen" on the cover by the ESRB alone.

If you see things happening in a public channel that should not be, report it. Cite the ToS then if you need to, but do not confuse it with an industry-mandated rating.

Addendum: I'm certainly not innocent of dropping the occasional f-bomb- especially when pissed- but I never go full XXX in Shout. IDGAS about your Blacklist, "bra", bring it on.

Mainly powerplaying. You know, the whole controlling of someone else's character. Taking an action and deciding the outcome of it without having the okay from the player(s) of the character(s) you're with. The only times I find this okay is if you have a previous agreement that allows such powerplaying -- usually in specific situations. (Like couples kissing and having 'permission' to assume the other doesn't try to avoid the kiss. Or if you're playing out a scene where you beforehand have decided OOCly how things in general would play out.)

Mary Sue/Gary Stu behaviour. E.g. "I have these awesome skills/powers, but the horrible flaw that balances these skills is that everyone falls hopelessly in love with me and try to protect me." (Which, coincidentally, falls under powerplaying.) Or, "I'm the most powerful fighter in Eorzea and beyond. It'd take a coalition of at least eight Elder Primals to make me retreat."

Additionally... though this might more come in under your initial questions... People that RP in their own party chat or tells, yet do custom emotes that everyone can read. By the twelve, if you're going to be that private about it, you can do your custom emotes with asterisks instead of /me to hide those as well ¬_¬ Or hold your conversations in /say so people have a chance to eavesdrop. *nosy*

Not being on a server with many RPers, I haven't run into many RPers at all. So I really can't answer this ^^; It has a tendency to differ a lot depending on which 'fandom' you're talking about -- like SWtOR, where RPers mostly sit in a pub/bar/club moaning about their horrible fates/backgrounds.

xD I sort of did that one. Mostly as a joke, though. Started out as male miqo'te (as indicated by the name), then used my first Fantasia around the end of last year's Halloween event, changing into a female highlander. My two excuses were: "They took me to the vet ;_;" and "Um... I think something went wrong with those illusions. Weren't they supposed to wear off?"
But I don't really RP, so I'm not sure my 'goofing off' counts. (Besides, it was only really fun with the first one, since I'd gone over a year without even changing my hairstyle xD)

Also agreed. You can keep your soulstone on, but call yourself a CNJ. In fact, BLM, SCH, and WHM are all forbidden jobs under the lore. If you want to roleplay as such, you're roleplaying as a THM, CNJ, or a healing-focused ACN.

I agree as well. Feel free to use a Fantasia, but don't roleplay it out. Find a way to kill off or remove the existing character and start anew.

Agreed. If you're going to roleplay a DRG, roll an Elezen. If you're going to roleplay a MNK, roll a Highlander Hyur. (this ties back to disregarding the lore as well)

This can be argued as canon sadly. There are instances of NPCs purring and hissing (or doing other cat-like mannerisms) as a part of their speech patterns. For example U'odh Nunh (Forgotten Springs) and Miah Molkot (Proud Creek) both do this. It's probably a recessive genetic trait given the uncommonness (such as heterochromia)

The whole "mating" thing makes me cringe (the only time the word "mate" is acceptable is if you're a pirate). That being said, I do recall an NPC using the word kitten to describe another miqo'te. I also remember the one archer quest, the enemy miqo'te refers to her group as her litter. Although it seems weird, I think it ties back to the above thing about "purring" and such. It seems the wild Miqo'te NPCs have a much more feral personality than the ones living or working in major cities. I might have to let that behavior slide.

1. It's hard to say since I identify with my characters so if my character is annoyed, I get annoyed too. There's a real misogynistic character in one of my groups that bugs me to no end and it's probably because as a character he blatantly ignores any subtle cues you give and actively antagonizes people. It can be really fun, but only if there's a chance to redeem the character.

2. I've personally encountered voidsent possessions a few times, and it's ridiculously common for people to create their own entire Lore for new tribes to explain non Lore related names (also being adopted, I used that for my main)

Overall there are so many different ways to RP and different allowances depending on your main group, some of which will be okay one place and not another.
