While there are many and varied reasons why one may want to avoid ERP - not the least of which is that it is against the TOS - it most certainly and without any doubt is RP, and not inherently any more objectionable than any other type of RP.

Erp isn't rp, its an excuse to do cyber sex (with minors) I hate it whem people claim erp is rp. When it pretty much just cyber sex. If i recall correctly this trend started in WoW as most the MUID i played had no erp tag or guides or even mentioned it. Only one that was made post WoW had a note on it.

No i'm not wronmg i very much know what erp is. its being sexual in ur roleplay which is again just cyber sex. Which is being sexual over the internet. (with minors)

The reason why erp or what was formally called cyber sex isn't rp is because is a slippery slope because of the anoniminty, if its with a minor (cuz you just never know) its a crime (and u can be sent to the country the minor is and be jailed by their laws) you can also be sue'ed by the spouse if the person is an adult, for adultery. In the court of law simply saying "it was role play" won't hold water.
erp stand for erotic role play, there is HUGE difference between being intimate and being erotic. Also most MUD i play have this stuff against the rules due to what i said. I also wasn't pegging it as people are pedophiles, but it does happen and i wasn't gonna ignore it.

And people catfish others all the time so you really just never know.

edit: That is and has always been a weak argument, as again you do not know. And again in a court of law, saying "i wasn't having sex my character was" will not hold water as you control what your character does. Rememvber some people put themselves into their character as a way to express how they wish to be. Point blank though acting out a character out a character or being yourself you are still bring sexual with someone over the internet.

Another thing, lets bring up Larp (live action role play) how would you explain a erp situation in that form of role playing? remember in larping your playing characters not yourself. Or does that not count as its real life? Which wouldn't make any sence as roleplaying is role playing you are playing characters not yourself.
